We finally made it to Dogpatch (so named because of the neighbourhood name at the turn of the century). Parking was lucky for us as we got a free spot on the street right in front of the restaurant. The service was immediate and friendly - without being excessively so. We decided to order the Baker's Sandwich for $21.00 which comes with your choice of side. I went with coleslaw and my partner ordered the salad. The sandwich was very big, too big actually and the chicken was a bit dry. It's difficult cooking chicken to be tender and juicy every time but that's what we're paying for so we should be able to expect an excellent sandwich. It was otherwise tasty. The coffee was quite good and included refills. This is a beautiful neighbourhood for an after dinner walk about so make sure you include that in your plans. read more

I went here again with a friend because she is Celiac and they have a good menu for her. The atmosphere is okay. I can't say that it is comfortable seating ( I have a bad back) and there isn't really anything standoutish of the decor. However it is clean, and open and the deck is decent to sit at when the weather is nice. This menu is fairly basic - appetizers, sandwiches, a couple of entrees. I love flavours that pack a punch and think this is scaled down to a place you can take small kids and your grandparents to. This isn't exactly a bad thing if they are well thought out, but I wouldn't go on my own for a date night. They also have a decent beer selection. Prices are high for what I think they deliver. My friend chose the Cajun Chicken Club with a substitute for gluten free bread, while I went with the bomb burger. We both chose fries. Food came out in a decent manner. Everything was OK. I stress OK. My burger was acceptable and I enjoyed the goat cheese and bacon jam although it was messy to eat. The fries were also OK. Not standoutish but not terrible either. My friend didn't comment on her Cajun Chicken Club but her bread seamed to be falling apart. She did say she liked the fries. I had never heard of this place before when a friend suggested it for dinner with the stipulation that "Wednesday was burger night" I won't lie I expected there to be more burger options for a burger night but there was two the regular menu burger and the featured. I decided to deviate and go with the grilled halloumi sandwich, which was actually quite tasty if a little on the salty side. The fries were also fantastic and crispy but I wish I had more regular length fries than the little nub ends. But that's really splitting hairs. Service was friendly if a bit hands off, but overall it was nice not to feel hovered over. The place is small in a quiet neighborhood. Came here with a girl friend at 6PM on a Monday. Patio was full, with dogs too! But inside was only 30% full. Waiter was super friendly and patient as we spent the first 30minutes just chatting and not ordering. Place wasn't too loud so easy to have a conversation here. Bathrooms are gender specific hallways with stalls But they all (men and woman) use communal sinks to wash hands. And you have to climb down a flight of stairs to get to. Sandwich of the day was pulled pork something. Friend got the Vegan Spinach + Artichoke Grilled Cheese. Loved it. I got the Cornmeal Crusted Fish N' Chips. I really liked how the fish did not taste greasy and the batter was really unique. Fries were meh, I know they are house-made but they mostly looked like little bits. mushy peas were much better than expected. 9/10. But next time I would try something else. I really love the idea of a new burger weekly. I also heard that all their bread/buns are made fresh from the bakery next door! Too bad it wasn't open Mondays/today. I visited the Dog Patch a few times, but I was disappointed beyond belief when I dined there last week. My daughter and I had a special day planned, including dining at the Dog Patch. I ordered the borscht bread bowl and my daughter ordered a burger. When they brought my borscht, I informed the waitress she brought me the wrong meal, because there were some brownish vegetables at the bottom of a hallowed out circular bread loaf. She informed me that what was in front of me was the borscht bread bowl. I said "there's no liquid in this", and that it's not borscht. She said she was new and brought the manager out. When I told him of my concerns, he said he would bring out more broth. Among the veggies in the bowl, there were not beets. I said I could take a little taste of what was in the bowl. I moved the veggies around attempting to get some on my spoon and it was just too gross. I said "I just can't". I returned the borscht (with no beets) and ordered a burger. My daughter ate her burger and we waited quite a while for my burger. I was confident the manager would do the right thing, and not charge me for my burger, since our dining experience was disappointing; nope, I was charged full price for our burgers. Even though the staff at my school would go to Dog Patch for special occasions (last day of school, Christmas), we won't be going there again !!!!!!! read more

The ambiance is beautiful with rustic wood as well as modern touches of metal. The restaurant has a variety of innovative drinks. The food menu uses a lot of bread from the bakery next door. I had the Gardener's Tartine which was pretty good. The bread was delicious and the fries were perfectly seasoned. The vegetables were slightly under seasoned but nothing extreme. The prices are reasonable. The only issue is that the menu doesn't have prices clear. The service was good and prompt. Definitely a place to visit and check out. read more

We were lucky to get a table on a beautiful summer day and we were very excited to see that they had a great selection of vegan and vegetarian choices. We also got a flight of beer which was delicious. This is a perfect place for vegetarian's and meat eaters to hang out I was also happy to see that they had many local beers on the menu. We took a peek at the brunch menu and it looks delicious -we can't wait to try that out soon. There is street parking in the neighbourhood and the patio is wheelchair accessible. As one of the few places to eat actually IN the suburb of Riverdale, you can expect this place to be packed full for weekend brunch so plan to arrive early or late. They have a modest sized patio with picnic tables which can hold one larger group or two couples; there are umbrellas for shade. I tried the "Madame Lisette" which is a croque madam sandwich with pork belly in the middle - complete with amazingly crispy crackling on the edges. My partner had one of the bennies which was also delicious. A really nice brunch option was their "mimosa flight", allowing you to try about 3oz of each of their 4 mimosas: orange juice, grapefruit juice, spiced apple, and basil. The basil mimosa was our favourite by far and the apple the least - a bit too sweet. Riverdale is a bit out of the way if you don't have a reason to be there, but it's not far from downtown and if you walk from downtown, you have a way to walk off those calories! If you are in the area you can definitely do worse than to check them out. read more

So if you go to Dogpatch on Sunday, you may be on a waitlist. So be ready to wait 10-20 mins before being seated. The pizza here is delicious, but the Artichoke Grilled Cheese is just next level - a solid 10 out of 10! The portions are massive, two slices of pizza and grilled cheese made me stuffed, so I'm definitely planning to come back to try more dishes. It's one of those places where you want to taste everything at least once. Recommend to all my friends and family! read more

This restaurant has a dog friendly patio, which is awesome, because it is located very close to some river valley trails, so when hungry and out for a walk, it is a prime spot to go for a beverage and some food without having to take the dog home first. The Dog Patch has some great pizza; with gluten free and lactose free options available. Inside the restaurant there is a nice pub type atmosphere. The washrooms are located downstairs with unique feature of a shared wash area between the men and women's toiletry area. The service here is good; with a very friendly group of staff. Dogpatch might be my new favourite brunch spot! They have a large, dog-friendly patio with umbrellas for shade if needed and a large, bright indoor space. We brought our pup so ended up on the patio. They even had dog treats ready for her out there! I ended up going with the halloumi benny which was one of the best egg's benedicts I've ever had. The halloumi was the perfect meat replacement for this with its chewy, salty texture. My husband had the Irish Boxty which is a large potato pancake topped with vegetables, cheese and sour cream. As much as I loved my meal, I was honestly a little jealous. The highlight for me was the mimosa flight. No more deciding what type of juice you want now that you can have all 4 kinds. It was also the perfect amount for sharing. The overall experience was excellent and I'm looking forward to my next visit so I can try the vegan crab cakes they have on their regular menu! read more

My Day Dog's owner wanted to show us their appreciation so they invited us out for supper to a place we could bring Henry to. I ordered the gluten-free version of the mushroom burger the restaurant had on special with coleslaw. It was tasty but hard to eat. It was too big and saucy to pick up with my fingers, but it tended to crumble with a knife and fork. Anyway, I manage to eat most of it and brought about 1/4 home. The coleslaw was made fresh in- house, but I thought it might have benefited from a little more dressing and salt. I washed it all down with the best lemonade I .have. ever. had. Not too sweet, with lots of ice and basil flavoured. It was an adult drink. A child might require more sugar, but it was perfect for me. My spouse ordered the regular burger and ate it with enthusiasm- in fact I didn't get a picture of it before they had taken a bite. Our friend bought the vegan crab cakes- surprisingly tasty, fried pickles, and a lemonade. My spouse had beer and after, coffee. I had a sip of the coffee and found it quite acceptable. The service was good, the dogs mostly well- behaved. I was too full for dessert but they had some tempting gluten free choices on offer. If I were to present one critical point, the prices seemed on the high side but maybe that is just me, not keeping up with inflation. Located where nothing else is, this cafe (Brew and Bloom) and Bistro (Dogpatch) have found a great location. Modern simple interior, super friendly fast service, good food and drinks, this place would be my local haunt if I lived in the area...but I don't. Anyway, the burger was good, bit too much bun for my liking but it was a good size, and tasted great once I took the top half of the bun off. Fries were excellent, crispy, fresh, salted perfectly. Eating here over your lunch hour (my office is close by) can be hit or miss as I often find you have to really flag down your server and ask to pay, even when things aren't busy. Beautifully built brick building in a fantastic neighborhood. I like the unique, fresh menu. You don't often see halloumi on a menu. I ordered the halloumi eggs benedict which came with potatoes (cooked to perfection) and some fresh fruit. It definitely hit the spot! Super filling. The coffee was good, although I'll admit I was hoping for an espresso based beverage (they do not have an espresso machine). Don't get me wrong, I love a good black coffee. But when I go out for breakfast/brunch it's my chance to splurge and I like to treat myself to a cappuccino or cortado. Luckily, Little Brick is only 3 mins away if you favoir a frothy caffeinated beverage like myself. If you are into mimosas (who isn't?) their mimosa flight looked devine and I will definitely be trying that the next time I go there for brunch! On our way out we hit up Bread and Butter (would have been a sin not to) and bought a biscotti and one of their apple cinnamon cheesecake danishes (yum-o). All in all, wonderful experience. Had brunch here with a large group of friends. No one minded the orders coming out at different times because their kitchen is small but my plate of food was not good. I had ordered Eggs Benedict with house made sausage patty. My eggs were hard, no runny yolk at all; I had specifically ordered soft when the server asked. Sausage patties were also hard; I could not cut through them with the side of my fork. I see beautiful pictures of the hollandaise on the eggs but the hollandaise on my eggs had split, and left an oily sheen on the top of the eggs. I never finished my plate. It was a waste of $19.
