One of my faves for pedal boating & walking. I have enjoyed mornings sitting on the shoreline watching the water goers. It is peaceful. While I know how to paddleboard, it is pricier here than elsewhere. I'd love to get my own paddle board & launch from here. And before the summer is up, I'd love to try their yoga on paddle board class! Down side- parking can be tough as the day gets on & it's up to you to store your valuables. read more

Fun spot to rent bikes ($20 /hr and helmets included) around the shoreline. We found out about the bike rentals from friends and decided to pop by on a Saturday afternoon. It's pretty relaxing and nice to bike around the area as most of the roads are paved and the road was spacious for bikers/walkers. There is one section of the shoreline that was a bit smelly to bike through but overall not a huge issue for me. There's also other rental options like kayak, pedal boats, canoe, etc which all seemed to be very reasonable priced. read more

Fun place to enjoy some fun on the water. You have options of renting the pedaling boat, sail boat, or even a motor boat. They charge hourly at fairly reasonable rates. The stand up board is fun as well, and I believe they have a tutorial / class for that. No swimming allowed. Nice getaway that's not too far from where you live, if you need a nature recharge. This was my first time here and I absolutely loved spending my afternoon here. There is so much to do and the area is amazing! You can rent bikes and many activities to do on the lake. Also, bring picnic setup as there is a large area of greenery by beautiful trees. My boyfriend and I decided to walk 5 miles on the Bay Trail. It was calming and we plan to definitely visit again! Staff was very friendly! I went on a pedal boat for 1 hour and it was $30. It's a default 4 seater, so they don't have a 2 seater if you're looking for just a 2 seater. The weather was really nice out and there were lots of other people in the water doing pedal boats, kayaking, and wind surfing! It gets pretty tiring after 10 minutes of pedaling but it's chill to just sit and let the water take you around! They provide life jackets for you to pick up after paying for the rental equipment before heading out to the pedal boats. Some of my favorite family memories invoke pedal boats and watching the windsurfers zoom through the water. Sitting on the grass with a picnic is great too! You have to be certified to rent a sailboat - and I never got that far, but it sure looked fun. The pedal boats were perfect for me and the kids. One time my Sis and I brought our two young boys - oh they said THEY would do all the pedaling! But actually they ended up in the back looking out at the lake like little kings of the water! ‍We pedaled the whole time - it was fun and we had lots of laughs. I absolutely love this place. It is so serene and beautiful. I like to do the walk around the lake. Sometimes I venture out and find a bench to view the water. There are geese and bunnies! There are lots of areas where you can put out a blanket and picnic. They also have rentals for water activities like kayaking and paddle boarding. Parking can be challenging on the weekends, but I usually just go to the front and wait for someone to walk out and I got a spot pretty quickly. This is such a great place to spend a weekend as there are things for everyone to do and is quite pandemic friendly. Want to spend your time on the water? You can rent kayaks, paddle boards and peddle bikes! Want to play golf? Come on by! There's even a designated place near the entrance for kite flying! If you're looking to kayak, pedal boat, row, parasail, etc. this is the place to do it! There are also walking trails, playground, and eating areas around the lake if you're looking for other activities after your lake activity. Parking is tight here, so come earlier in the day for a space. No fees for parking. Amenities include an outdoor shower and decent bathrooms. This was my second time kayaking, and we rented a double kayak at $26 for an hour. Unlike other places that require an individual waiver form, they have a group liability form that you sign. The staff that were in charge of the boats seemed young and new. I felt like they weren't as attentive and could've done a better job taking care of us. When we finished kayaking and rowed up to shore, no one greeted us and helped us pull our kayak up. We ended up pulling up by the dock and bringing our kayak up ourselves. Besides that, rowing on the lake itself was wonderfully relaxing. There is a nature preserve that is off-limits, but the signs aren't as obvious so we almost kayaked through it. Be careful because the birds do seem aggressive! read more

Open during shelter in place! This is a popular and busy spot on a Saturday but despite the many south bay residents trying to get out on a sunny day, we found parking right away. The gold course is open also but not the boating activities on the lake. What I love most about this area is that it has access to the Bay Area Trail which goes on and on so it is perfect for long walks, jogs, or cycling. I didn't see any open restrooms during this time so be sure to go before you leave your home. I saw a lot of families sitting on grass or benches and having a picnic which I am pretty sure isn't allowed. Now about the trail: -Flat dirt with some rocks - wide enough but busy with cyclists so be sure to have your music on low so you can hear people coming behind you to move aside - free parking - great views - windy and sunny - no shade so take your caps that have a strong fit & SPF - wildlife: jack rabbit, birds, ducks, geese A must if you live in the south bay! read more

Have you ever woken up in the morning and felt like you suffered a small stroke? That was me. Then I remembered: oh that's right, we went canoeing yesterday! With lots of activities closed due to the pandemic, kiddo was so happy to try canoeing here. We've tried pedalboating and rowboating in SF at GGP so we were ready for our next adventure! Canoeing on a windy day... can be challenging. Really tests how well you can work together as a team... Good thing they weren't enforcing the rule about charging by the hour! Things started out great but slowly and surely the wind kept blowing us in a particular direction. Trying as hard as we could, we were unable to get unstuck from a little nook that the currents had trapped us in. I seriously thought about abandoning ship and crawling onto shore... No wonder other families opted for the pedalboats!! Luckily after 90 minutes of being out there, they sent out a rescue boat to help pull us out. Made a great story to tell people that's for sure! Canoeing was $26. Boat holds up to 4 people. If you're not used to lifting any weights or being very active, be prepared for the most intense workout of your life. Canoeing is a full body experience! You will feel muscles you didn't even know existed the next morning. Parking can be tricky on the weekend. A lot of people come here to picnic or use the trails. They have lots of rentals for all kinds of activities. If the lot is full, you can always go to another lot and walk back over. There are trails nearby called Bayland Trails. You can definitely get a good 5 miles done no problem. There isn't too much to see though and it can get super windy under direct sun with no shade -- lots of birds and some extremely stinky. Your mask will not help you. When something smells so bad you can smell it through your mouth, it's BAD! The highlight of everything were the cute ground squirrels. They will beg and are used to humans feeding them. Bathrooms are nearby and lots of people are masked. A great place to hangout for the weekends. read more

Lovely place to spend time with friends and family. Rented a sailboat for one hour and a two person kayak for the next, the surrounding park is also very lovely! There's a lot of parking spots, so don't worry about getting there later or earlier. No further comments, other than that I will be returning in the future :) read more

The tribe wanted to try rowing a boat on a hot day. There were kayaks, paddle boards, pedal boats, and canoes available but we wanted to try something new. Rowing a boat is harder than it seems. They also have wind surfing rigs and sail boats for rent. We walked up and paid $26 for the 1 hr row boat rental. Picked up some mandatory life vests. I was pleasantly surprised they didn't smell like musty socks. The dock worker checked our receipt and have us a 60 second tutorial. It took almost the entire hour to casually row from the rental dock out the island and back. There are patrols circling the lake making sure people are wearing life vests. Scenery wasn't bad but the smell bird poop Was kind of strong. Water is pumped and presumably processed. read more

This is my go-to place for a scenic walk from a few years now. Best time to visit this place is around sunset. You could see bunch of different colors and reflections. Water looks gorgeous. This has plenty of walking and biking trails that are well connected to Steven Creek's trail. You could witness plenty of ducks, seagulls, and rabbits in the area. There is a dog park at the entrance as dogs are not allowed next to the lake. Imagine the fights dogs would have with tons of ducks in the area! :) Adding some pictures. read more

Why haven't we been out here before? Drive through Google City and past the Shoreline Amphitheatre, and you'll find this little gem of a lake within Silicon Valley. Lots of water activities and you don't even have to get wet... pedal boats, canoes, paddle boats for rent, and they have trails to run or bike (beach cruisers also available for rental, 2 bikes with those baby/toddler trailers, up to 30 lbs). Or if you don't mind getting wet, stand up paddle boards and kayaks are also available. They also have sailing and wind surfing classes available on weekends through the city. In my opinion this place should get a five stars for the facilities and surroundings. If you are an active weekend warrior, look no further. The place offers hiking, biking, jogging tracks, open spaces, a lake with kayaking and boating activities and a nearby golf course. I really love taking walks around the lake. The whole round would take about 45 min at a leisure pace. During summer they open up many water activities such as renting kayak, canoes, paddle boats and much more. There is a small coffee shop but I found it overpriced. On weekends it gets very busy so I will recommend visiting on weekdays. read more

I've always been afraid of the waters. For some reason I associate it w/ fire. I heard that dying in a fire is similar to drowning. Yes, I could swim but my lungs are terribly weak... for that I never go near it but after deciding to put my 2 weeks in w/ a company I did everything for, I wanted to do something a little bit daring. Face my fears. I didn't have all day so I got there as soon as it opened. I rented a single kayak and a locker. When I tried to sit down, I fell backwards. Thank goodness I wasn't trying to impress the gentleman helping me. I was off... no emails, no texts, no social media, no one to talk to... I freaking loved it!!! It was so tiring though but I stayed strong and did a few laps before calling it quits. I did 55 minutes. I rented an hour. I was proud of myself. Then 2 weeks after Gavin's birthday came. He wanted to try kayaking because I told him all about it. Again we got there when it opened. It wasn't even 5 minutes yet but Gavin already said his arms were tired. * eyes roll * Gavin did enjoy it though. He looked back at me so many times to smile at me and to tell me that "this is great." He did stop to lay down (back extended), making me do all of the work. Who am I kidding though? Reserved SUP rentals online with card. Shoreline Lake Boathouse is Covid ready and require masks. Parking was difficult since people were there for the cafe, hanging out, and rentals. It was easy to check in for the SUP rentals and they have a lot of lockers next to the bathroom to put your stuff. Lockers are $2 and you need to get a token at the rental window. The water looks brown and dirty here and the lake is pretty small. I would say you only need to rent for an hour. For SUP rentals it's $26/hour or $50/day. Overall I'm not sure I would go back since parking was so hard to find and I didn't even stay long on the lake. read more

I love Shoreline Lake!! There's so much to do here even during Covid-19. Pre-Covid, my friends and I enjoyed kayaking and boating on the water. You can easily rent boats at the main building and have them for an hour. There are also bathrooms to change into/out of swimwear. Surrounding the lake, there is lots of grass (good for picnics) and biking/walking trails that are great during Covid. The area closes at sundown but I definitely recommend catching a sunset at Shoreline! read more

My family and I went paddle boating at Shoreline over the summer and I had the time of my life. It was around $20 dollars per boat. You could fit max 3-4 people on a boat; 4 if you have 2 kids in the back or 3 if you have one adult in the back. Since I didn't know how to swim (and I still don't), they advised me and everyone else to wear life jackets. When it was time to get onto the boat, we had a super friendly guy help us get onto the boat. Keep in mind, it's super shaky and it's scary to get in and out of the boat... well, for me it was. Paddle boating was definitely an exercise for all of us. The best part was taking over a majority of the boats and having my entire family in the lake. The only con, which wasn't a huge deal, was paddling back. We had to paddle backwards at one point because it was getting hard. Like I said, it's an exercise. ***Tip*** Take a bottle of water with you. You will feel parched! read more

Beautiful park! This park has multiple things! They have a special section when you enter the park for flying kits, a golf course, and cool antique house and the lake at the very top of the park. They lake isn't that large but for a nice swim or water activity it's good. You can bring your own water activity too! We brought our kayak and paddle board. They do charge a launching fee of $5. You can also rent many water activity's that they have available. Such as a paddle board, Kayak, sailing boat, signal bikes, double bikes, and more! I will say compared to the ocean water this was is way more itchy and way more salty than ocean water. However this park is close to use and still very pretty. The best time to go to this place is definitely Monday-Friday. The weekends are crazy and you won't find parking. read more

Gorgeous place to visit for a family friendly bike ride or cabin fever outing due to Covid-19. The pathway to get to the lake is amazing, and depending on which way you come from, you will find parking. This trail is great for a bike ride, long distance run (4 miles plus), or a nice stroll. On weekends or Holidays, this place gets pretty busy and not so safe for the kiddos with the fast bikes hauling a** down the pathway. Have been to this place multiple times. It's a beautiful location to spend time walking/running/cycling/skating/ and of course doing water activities like paddle boating, kayaking and sailing. We rented a paddle boat which is meant for 4 people, $30 for and hour and its plenty of time! Kids above 2 yrs are allowed on the boat. Life jackets are kept on the side and are available right after you pay. The attendant goes over the details of the boat and safety etc and then you're off! We are so lucky to have such a fun activity in close proximity of where we live. People who don't like it on the water can relax in the cafe that is right by the lake- they have basic stuff like coffee, juice, muffins and sandwiches but a nice place to sit and listen to the music. I have been coming to Shoreline Lake for a good year. This has been my go to place for walks. Many people come here to ride bikes and to go on runs. There are all kinds of boats and water thingys to rent and use on the Lake. This also has a connection to what I think is the Baylands trail as well to extend your Shoreline adventure. Shoreline Lake gets very crowded in the Summer time and on the Weekends. It is a go to spot to enjoy the weather and good views. Also if your into Pokemon Go, this is a great spot! read more
