Lord, could I give them no stars? OK, a half star for being able to get where I was going…read moreyesterday, but that's it. With all the excellent reviews, I am stunned by my experience. Rollin' Rentals has an outfit at the HI-Austin hostel, where I rented the bike for $15 for the day (with no deposit in this case) through the hostel staff. The bikes were all looking a little rough, but since they're left outside, I wasn't surprised. I set my sights on the Trek hybrid bike, which I figured would suit my needs. Thankfully, I checked the brakes before peeling out of the hostel. The back brake was slack--WTF? So I peeked behind me, and sure enough, the whole thing was disconnected. I reattached the brake line, then borrowed an allen key from the hostel to tighten the cable. The real problem, however, was with the line at the handlebar, which I assume was why a previous renter had detached the cable in the first place. I was starting to understand why I'd signed a waiver. I decided the bike was unrideable and returned the borrowed allen key to the desk. My next pick in the lineup was the green "Eddie Bauer" hybrid, which initially I had avoided because it was full suspension (an abomination, in my opinion). Aside from some roughly shifting gears and a slow ride as a result of getting no power to the wheels, it worked for awhile ... and then the chain started popping off. Repeatedly. Bottom line: a low-quality bike in bad repair. I arrived at Barton Springs with greasy, grubby fingers, overtired from a difficult ride on a full suspension bike, and an extremely bruised ischiopubis from the bizarre seat which seemed cushion-y enough (but the way I'm walking today says otherwise). I rented a bike to have fun and get around the way I do when I'm back home. If I'd known it would be such a pain in the ass, I would have rented a car, or at least called him directly than just accepting what was available at the hostel ...

Renting a bike should not cost more than renting car, and that's where Rollin Rentals comes in…read more You can rent a bike for $15 a day ($50 deposit) and that's not all folks! Not only will they throw in a helmet, bike lights, and a lock, they will also drop off the bike and pick it up wherever you want! My brother came to visit me a couple of weeks ago from Dallas and I wanted to rent him a bike so I could prove to him that one of the most biker friendly cities in the US does exist in TX. Even though Rollin Rentals did not have a review, I looked up their website and decided to give them a try. I called them up the day I wanted to rent a bike thinking I may be out of luck (procrastinator, I know!!), but luckily he had a couple of road ones available. Greg Mueller, the owner, was not only knowledgeable and friendly, but also very accommodating. He told me that if anything went wrong, a flat tire, anything really, to just give him a call anytime and he'd come find us. He was on time both when he dropped the bike off and picked it up. The hours of operation say from 2 - 9pm, but according to him, he's available all the time. The business is fairly new, and since the quality and price of the service exceeded my expectations I decided to finally create a Yelp account and review it so others can give it a try. I'm glad I decided to give this place a shot, and I will definitely be using them when my out of state peeps come out and visit for ACL this weekend. What state are my friends from you may ask...some things are better left unsaid, like what goes into making hot dogs or how many kids the stripper giving you a lap dance has. I assume with all of the scooter competition that they are not investing in keeping up the bikes. In San Antonio they are going electric which is great. We also had to call the help center when we tried to dock the bikes and could not. The only plus is that the bikes can be taken on the bike /hike path while the scooters are prohibited.

Both bikes were fine, but the best part was the customer service from B-Cycle, now called Metrobike. Their staffers were so friendly and helpful-they legit showed interest in me as a customer and desire for me to be happy! Yay! Something that's sorely lacking right now. Plus, they had THE CLOSEST docking station to ACL (by a lot), at the corner of Sterzing and Barton Springs Road. Far closer than the mandatory scooter parking (geofencing prohibits you getting any closer-you have to take them to Toomey). I made that mistake Day 1 ACL. I will for sure use these bikes again. Happy to have them around central Austin. *The payment options are clearly stated on the app and the website. Not sure what others are bellyaching about. Each amount on the app has a drop-down with a VERY clear description of what you're buying. Jeez.

Our party was 20+ and did the East Side Ride and were very pleased with the tour. Pros: Very responsive, professional, drivers Alex and Max were great and fun Cons: Nothing really outside of one of the bikes having an issue, but we still did our tour and had a blast. Highly recommend the Eastside Ride because all 3 places we went to were excellent. Central Machine Works- Make sure you don't bring in any outside drinks or food. The drinks were great but they had an amazing vegetarian pizza that was delicious Lustre Pearl Rainey- This was the second place we went and we had some appetizers and drinks. Unfortunately, we were there for a short time and wish we could have stayed longer because the bartender working there was awesome Last place I don't remember the name and the food was great, but the service was iffy. Overall it was a great tour, but I think we didn't get enough time at the last 2 places because it felt rushed. We ended up having the tour leave us at the last place because we wanted to enjoy it. Going to give them 5 stars even though I felt it's probably more closer to a 4, but the tour guides were awesome and they helped make the decision easier

We booked the "Eastside tour" w/ Hipside Peddler on Saturday, 11/14/2020 to celebrate my friends 40th birthday & we had so much FUN! This was my 1st time so I had no idea what to expect but I can say that I am so glad that we were able to safely celebrate my friend's milestone birthday during this time of pandemic craziness. Since sharing is caring here are a few of my "Helpful Tips", "FYIs", & "Likes"... FYI: *You will be peddling the same way you would if riding a bike so be mindful of your foot wear & you will be getting a mini workout while peddling. *There are mini fans above each seat that you can turn on, if needed. *The peddle boat driver does have a plexiglass barrier between him & the passengers as a COVID safety precaution & the peddle boat itself is all open w/out any walls. *You can tip your peddling boat driver in cash & via Venmo. *The "Eastside" tour is 2 hours long & we made 3 separate stops at different local bars for 15-20 mins each so you can use the restroom, cool off, take a few pictures w/ your peeps and/or buy a drink while relaxing at each bar. Our awesome peddle boat driver was Matt & he also made a 4th stop at an Italian ice truck. *Each passenger must submit a liability waiver & you can do it electronically. Once your tour has been booked, you will get the waiver emailed to you. Helpful Tip(s): *BEVERAGES~I recommend that you bring your own ice chest already filled w/ ice & beverages (no glass containers are allowed) & there is an open area in the middle of the peddle boat for ice chest storage. *FOOD~only snacks are allowed & I suggest you bring snacks that are easy to munch on since you will be peddling while eating them. ( ex: mini bags of pretzels, individually wrapped cookies) *MUSIC~The peddle boat does have a stereo system that is very loud & has a usb that you can connect your phone to for music. I highly recommend that you create a music playlist of songs that help set the vibe that you're going for. I made a playlist using Spotify of all the songs I wanted to play. Lastly, I just wanted to give a huge shout out to Matt, who was our p.d driver because he really did a GREAT job of explaining "all things peddle boat" :) & putting us at ease so we could fully enjoy ourselves. This was so appreciated because each of us were newbie peddle boat passengers. Stay AWESOME Hipside Peddler & for sure I'll be seeing you again very soon! ~Rebecca out
