Don't be fooled by their amazing social media posts this place is an accident waiting to happen. They over crowd a too small room with about 20 to 25 dogs at the minimum. They closed down the large room due to HVAC damage over 2 years ago. They have had 3 general managers in 2 years. They failed to notify you of any incidents with your dog until you come to pick them up and see it yourself. Our baby suffered a serious injury that required surgery and they acted as if they didnt realize she was not able to walk all day. The sad part is our baby loved it there because the 4 employees that were good loved and treated her well. The last time she got hurt we called for hours when we didnt see her on camera and no one answered. Finally we left work and went to get her and saw the injury. We were told a false story about what happened. Then the general manager watched cameras and shared the truth. We are afraid that our baby would get hurt again and we could not chance her safety again. Too many dogs in a tiny space with incompetent supervison. Our baby went there for over 3 years. There were red flags but we kept giving them a chance because she would be so happy when she arrived. Over $4,000 for a surgical procedure and her pain was too much of a price to pay. I beg of you to avoid this place don't be fooled by the smoke and mirrors. Sadly our baby paid the price for us giving them the benefit of the doubt. Het comes a long rant. I usually hate bad mouthing any business and I ALWAYS give them a second chance. So here goes. My dog had issues at Dogtopia so we stopped going for a while then today we decided to give it another shot so I called before my daughter dropped him off and was very specific please do not put the dog in a cage during feeding because he geat very anxious and will keep sticking his nose thru the gate and last time he had an infection. Fast forward to when my daughter drops him off she reiterates the same thing and the girl in the front desk said yes we were told not to keep him in the cage. Now we go pick him up and look at thia guys nose and u can never get any manager at this place Because they rather not address the issue but keep dodging talking to us. We picked our dogs up from dogtopia after being boarded for 10 days and they were noticeably thinner than when we dropped them off (last picture is most recent photo I have of him), his sister is not pictured as she is not as bad but still also thinner than when we dropped her He clearly did not eat while he was there, for how many days I'm unsure, as they "can't access" their score cards that they are supposed to be filling out daily stating how they were every day and how much they ate, etc.. I called every other day while we were gone to check on them and never did anyone mention them not wanting to eat. He was starving when he came home and didn't want us to touch him as if he was afraid. He also had sores on all of his elbows as if he was crated without the bedding we sent in for long periods of time. Do not take your dogs here. I have so much regret in my heart for sending them. The owner laughed at me when I finally got in touch with him & swore up and down that he was there daily and saw Rambo eat all of his meals. I reported this business to the BBB, corporate and even the township of union and nothing was done. There's no outdoor space with fresh air for the dogs and our dogs didn't seem like the happy pups they usually are after a day at doggie day camp. I was raised to say good morning. When I walked in there was a woman at reception, understandably on the phone and there were two people ahead of me. However, while those two people were greeted very warm and chatted up nicely - what I got was an arm tossed in the air as if to say "what do you want?" I was taken aback. The saving grace was the young man, the dog handler, who came out and took the time to speak with me and answer my questions. At the end of the day, the way you treat me is a reflection of how you will treat my dogs. This place is a no for me. read more

Jesus Christ what a completely mismanaged company/location. Reached out to have a meet and greet and explained that I have a new puppy. They told me what shots I need to get. So I went to get the shots with my vet since I only had my puppy for a couple weeks at this point and I have an upcoming travel date. I got the shots and came to a meet and greet. They told me I was only missing the rabies. I went back and got the rabies only to find out that my dog needs a second Bordatella shot which he's scheduled for next week. This was NEVER brought up as an issue. If it was I would have checked with friends and family to watch my dog. As a result of this I'm now screwed because my trip is TOMORROW. I have had a good experience with Dogtopia in Union so far. The intake (meet & greet) was a fairly seamless process. I have not had any issues like some listed in the reviews. My puppy who is now 1yr 8mo is very active and plays a lot while there and adapted to the lunchtime crating. I purposely wanted to have the option of an indoor daycare when weather is bad (too hot, rain, snow, etc), and it works for my needs. read more

I took my dog here hoping for a great day care experience after receiving several calls from the facility about bringing him after he was neutered. I read the reviews prior however wanted to give them a chance because I saw how responsive they were to bad reviewers and maybe would do better. I took him in on a weekend and he passed the meet and greet, but he was put on "time out" in a crate several times for his behavior, but let out after a cooling off period of about 10 min or so. I was ok with that because I want him to learn better manners. The second day, no time outs, better behavior, they even had a little soccer game going with the pups. I was pleased and so happy. The last day of the meet and greet, he was put on "time out" twice after 9:15ish - 10:30ish. I was concerned and kept logging into the webcam hoping he would be fine. They put him in the crate from 11:30ish to 3:23pm. From 12-2pm there is lunch and naps for all the dogs. So he was put in the crate before lunch and left in after nap. He was not let out for approximately 4hrs straight, not including the 9-10:45 a.m. time outs. My dog was in the crate wagging his tail hoping to play. I was upset. I raced up to the facility and asked them the time out policy, the Ops Manager, told me no more than a few minutes to 25 min. Depending on the offense. I explained my dog was in the crates for hours with the "coaches" ignoring him. The "coach" lied and said he did let him out but I watched the webcam the entire time, he and another "coach" a young lady, left him in there for longer than their policy rules. I was promised a phone call and an explanation from both the Opps manager and owner/manager Angelica (?) after reviewing the webcam footage. I never got either of those. Even after I called back the next day asking if they reviewed the footage to confirm what I saw. No phone call back, no response. He came home unhappy, threw up in the car and had diarrhea. I think he was stressed. I'm very disappointed in how they treated my dog and even more disappointed that they did not rectify the incident as promised. I finally thought I found a daycare with great hours and structure (nap, lunch and breakfast time) for my pup and it just was a horrible experience. Update: 2/27/22 Response to Norman: My dog was never dismissed from any other daycare, first of all. My concerns to this daycare was his excessive barking. He never had a mounting issue until he came to Dogtopia. The environment is very stressful with about 20-30 dogs running indoors. Some of the "coaches" played and interacted with the dogs while others walked around while the dogs chased them and did not interact. On the day of the humping, the last free trial day, the young lady "coach" was walking about for hours not interacting with the dogs or playing. It was here, the crating began. He had a much better day on the second trial day because those coaches on that day engaged the dogs in games, he wasn't crated at all. Second, he was crated for much longer than what your "policy" indicates according to the Opps Manager. I was also supposed to receive a phone call on any behavior that would lead him to be crated excessively, according to Angelique. To add insult to injury, Angelique called me today 29 days later to ask about Cyrus and then proceeded to accuse me of writing a false review. I have the email that states from her that the coaches had him crated for over 4 hrs STRAIGHT which include their lunch time & nap with 5 hrs of play. They also ignored my request to view the video footage which will indicate the time when the crating first began, which was approximately 9:15 which means he was crater for longer than 4 hrs. I would never bring my dog back. Beware of bringing your dog there. The reviews from others are true and accurate. I wished I had taken them seriously, because he was mistreated in their care. Right now, my dog is in a fun daycare, happy and playing cageless. The owners where I have him now, have an outside and indoor play. They also interact and love all the dogs there. I took my pup there for a simple bath and nail trim that ended up with her in a completely lethargic state and a bloody/ already infected nail because no one mentioned the fact that they cut my dog's nail incredibly too short. Any time my dog has gone to get a bath and/or daycare, everyone has always said how great she is. The customer service is so incredibly bad. This incident happened yesterday and I have called multiple times today simply trying to get in touch with the manager, Angelica. After speaking with a different front desk employee every time(Mikaela, Kyler, and Nichole) and getting a different answer as to why Angelica can't come to the phone, I am forced to write poor reviews as it is an unsafe environment. She subsequently caught an infection from this place and has now passed. Only four separate occasions of stepping paws in this place, and now she's gone forever. This was our first experience with Dogtopia and I wish that we had paid closer attention to the reviews. We boarded our dog there for 5 nights and were concerned when we noticed his behavior on the video cam on day 2. Our normally active, vibrant two year old dog was reserved, withdrawn and isolated from the other dogs. This continued for the duration of his stay, and he was noticeably different when we retrieved him. He appeared to be a bit smaller; he was subdued and not excited to see us (which he always is after separation); the team had thrown away his blanket for some reason and the most disturbing part were the nicks on his head/face. No one recorded an attack, but it was obvious another dog had bitten him during the stay. It has taken a week for him to start behaving normally again and I know that this experience traumatized him in some way. I spoke with the new manager of the facility, but we will not be back. read more

Our regular doggy daycare has been very full lately and doesn't always have availability, so today we took our dog to Dogtopia in Union New Jersey for the first time. My husband and I picked her up at 4 o'clock in the afternoon and as we walked in, to the right we saw a room full of dogs in crates. There were no people in the room with the dogs and a few were barking and seemed distressed. I was concerned and asked about their crate policy. I was told that the dogs are only in crates between 12 and 2 PM. When I pointed out that it was 4 o'clock and asked why are all the dogs still in crates I was told that they were understaffed and their policies had changed since they had been bought out by new management. They told me they have a rotating schedule and that the dogs were allowed for playtime for an hour and then put back in the crate, but I personally should not worry because my dog did great in the crate. I did not bring my dog to daycare so that she could be in a crate and unattended all day. I had hoped that she would be able to play with other dogs and have attention from people. Better to leave your dog at home. I will not be coming back and if you love your dog I recommend that you do not take them to Dogtopia. read more

Every morning when I get ready for work, my pup Jax follows me all around the house to make sure that I remember to bring him to Dogtopia, Union. I can not say enough about what an incredible experience ours has been. Angelica and her staff are all so kind and attentive. They have also been so patient during Jax's puppy-training years and endlessly patient with his excitement urination when he first sees them all, which thankfully has significantly improved. They also do curbside pick-ups and drop-offs. You can tell that they truly love what they do. Every day on the calendar is filled with activities for the pups, like bubble day, "tug of war" day, training days, and so much more. I love that we can watch Jax and his friends via their webcams, because I tend to miss him during the day and it makes me happy to see him prancing around with his little friends. The staff also thoughtfully coordinates and takes adorable holiday pictures of the pups! This team shows so much love towards our furry family member. For that reason, Jax literally gets so excited and drags us to the front door each time we pull up to doggy-daycare. They also offer spa services! Every detail has been thought through in order to make our experience special. It is so great to know that our mini aussie has somewhere to play and make friends a few times per week, instead of being alone while my husband and I work. If you love your pet, stay away from this place. I brought her to the Union facility on Aug 9th. When I arrived, the employee at the desk was holding her head up, barely awake and obviously disinterested in her job and of course the dogs. When I went to pick up my dog 12 hours later, I noticed Mabels ( my dog) food was still at the counter. I asked the 2 employees at the counter if she ate, and they proceeded to go "check". ok... I let that slide.... The next day, I dropped Mabel off and she cowered by the door when the young man went to get her to take her in the back. I felt there was something wrong. Mabel loves people. So during the day, I had the webcam on to watch the "show" The girl in Mabel's room NEVER made eye contact with any of the dogs. She NEVER petted or touched any of the dogs. NEVER engaged in anything in the room except her headphones. As your beautifully crafted website suggests, " our playrooms are supervised by these Certified Canine Coaches, etc...." Are you kidding me? I am not asking for much, but one would think that this " Certified Canine Coach" would at least pet a dog or two during the eight hours I watched. " Your dog's safety is our number one priority, which is why our Canine Coaches must complete a rigorous training, designed by a canine behaviorist, on dog body language and behavior". Funny, as I watched my dog Mabel follow your "Canine Coach" around the room all day, there was not a pat on the head, a touch or lets simplify, EYE CONTACT with Mabel or any other dog that day. There was a huge pee puddle on the floor, and I watched dogs walk through it leaving dog pee prints on the floor. Mabel reeked of dog pee when I picked her up . Its a sad day to watch these staff and their lack of caring for our pets that we TRUST will be cared for. Shame on you. read more
