Horrible experience at Dogtown Coconut Grove. We dropped off our puppy bully pit at Dogtown in hopes that he would be in a safe environment. Our puppy suffered a dislocated knee and a broken tibula while in their care on 4/16/21. Instead of being the carefree happy go lucky dog that we brought the there he is now very timid and anxious as one might expect with a puppy dog so severely hurt. The owner refuses to help us with the medical bills. He required over $4000 in medical bills including surgery. First he stated that our dog was only with other young small dogs so there's no way another bigger dog fell on him. However his staff, unbeknownst to him, had sent us two videos which clearly show him in a large room hanging out with a bunch of other dogs some of which are very very large and look to be adult dogs. He still refuses to help with any medical bills because in his eyes the dogs were according to him just playing which means to pet daycare has no responsibility in the matter. He also says his company stopper paying their insurance in April 2020 and therefore do not have any insurance at this time. According to him they have to pay out of pocket in instances such instances. I told them he and his partner are taking major chances by being in business caring for people's pets without insurance. He quickly stated to me that is why they have the liability waiver form signed by customers. I told him that does not seem right to me as a consumer. He then he stated that it's not illegal for the company to not have insurance. I stated but it seems unethical especially when you justify it by having consumer pet owners sign a waiver form to relieve you have any responsibility. In the past week this company has not presented itself as the kind, compassionate or even safe company that they portray themselves to be. The pet doctor that completed the surgery said it looks like a bigger dog fell on Chevy's leg for it to break in that way. The owner said he believes Chevy was playing with the other "little" dogs and juked the wrong way. On a positive note our beautiful baby had a successful surgery last week and we believe he will bounce back stronger than ever. read more

I was really excited to have my puppy spend a weekend at Dogtown! I dropped her off for her temperament test a couple days before I was leaving, and everything went great! I didn't know exactly when I was going on my trip (to drop her off Friday night or Saturday morning) but they assured me that I could just let them know whenever because they had plenty of space and I can tell them same day, when I was bringing her. I had a doctor appointment I had to stay in town for, and I called them on Friday morning to say that I could drop her off that night. They told me that they had nothing available. 12 hours before I was leaving!!!! Of course being a holiday weekend, all other places were full and I had no back up. I was really excited to use them because my dog seem to love to be there during her test, however they completely blew me off and ended up not reserving anything for me. I understand mistakes happen and wires get crossed, but not when you have a pet and no back up. The only reason I am writing this review, is because I just received an email that said " how was your stay at Dogtown? Please review us." And when in reality, you never even booked my stay. read more

I was about to book a Day care appointment for my dog. They asked me to sign a waiver. When I went over it, I immediately canceled. Why on earth would I sign a waiver like that. I get that sometimes thing happen and dog fall/slip, but the waiver has some serious words like death omg it's a no no for me. Teddy is way too precious! read more

I have had very good experiences with both boarding and grooming at the Coconut Grove location. My dog is happy coming and going. I like that she gets to roam and socialize with other dogs. I feel this place is really nice for the dogs. They love coming here. We took both my English Bulldog and French Bulldog in for a bath. They are allergic to almost everything. Here, they used a shampoo that was not oatmeal based (allergic to that too), yet it was hypoallergenic. My dogs came out looking great and most importantly happy bc they aren't placed in cages (as most other groomers). The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because it seemed a little too expensive. Everything you ask them to do is changed as extra. Also, they didn't come out smelling that great. They just smelled neutral. However, they got a thorough wash, and their grooming lasted for a longer period of time than when we take them elsewhere. read more

I have been bringing my husky, Shadow, to Dogtown since we moved to Miami. I travel frequently so the Dogtown staff has seen Shadow more than a dozen times in the year and half we have lived here. Never once did the Dogtown staff have anything but positive comments. From the mandatory day of observation just to be able to board Shadow, through all the visits he has made. Not a single comment of concern. When I picked up Shadow this weekend the desk attendant informed me Shadow was no longer welcome to stay. That he had been attacking other dogs, and had been doing so for awhile. Attacking. For awhile. I was taken aback to say the last. I had never witnessed anything close to the behavior the desk attendant described--not at the park, not at friends' houses with other dogs. Nothing. And the Dogtown staff, which now claimed this was an ongoing issue, had not said a word. Not. A. Single. Word. Just kept swiping my credit card and saying "see you soon" and emailing me form letters saying how great it was to have Shadow come visit. They allowed this issue to escalate to the point I can't bring my dog back because they chose to not say anything to me. The owner called it an "oversight." While I am deeply concerned about this development of aggressive behavior, I am more deeply concerned about the absolute lackadaisical approach of the Dogtown staff. They exchanged text messages about my dog's behavior but did not talk to me. Please, please, please, take your pet somewhere where behavioral or health issues that absolutely need to be brought to the owner's attention are given the due respect they deserve. Dogtown clearly is not such a place. read more

Great addition to the Grove! I had my Frenchie, Darla Belle, groomed here and they did a fantastic job! Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. The price was very reasonable compared to other groomers in the area. They also have doggy daycare and boarding with cute doggy suites. I love that they don't use cages, at all! read more

Previously I had only left my Labradoodle for daycare and for grooming. However due to an extended trip I had to leave my dog at Dogtown for almost a week. Let me tell you, they went out of their way to accommodate us. Not only did they answer all my questions, the billing and the agreement is clear as daylight. I have left my sweet golden doodle with Dogtown in coconut grove and have no complaints! She has stayed over night multiple times and she received a beautiful grooming. Easily the best grooming she has ever received. The only thing that I wish they would improve on is having a live webcam so I can see what my pooch is up to when I am away and I wish that they would post more on their social media. Seeing pictures of the pups that are there each day is a great touch. My biggest area of improvement would be the web cam though... just so when I'm out of town I can check in on her. My dog seems to be ok on their premises, but not thrilled. He's pretty sociable generally, so not sure what he is telling me... from my perspective the grooming is great. They follow my requests and he comes out looking great. I would rate higher if not for the human interface. I indicated drop of between 8:30-9. Arrived at 8:47 and was already texted about being late, and the person that received us also made a point to tell me I was late. Maybe the system doesn't allow a range? Also, price just keeps going up with no estimate given and no expectation of what the fee will be. First time, $55, second time $75, last time, $80. read more

Dogtown is absolutely fantastic. Everyone who works here is friendly and loves dogs, and my rambunctious yellow lab Roger always gets excited when I tell him "it's Dogtown day!" I've relied on Dogtown for boarding and regular daycare for my energetic fellow, and he always comes back tired and happy, ready to settle down at the end of the day. The staff are all fantastic and regularly report on Roger's progress and play-day. This is a business that prides itself on great service and happy canines, and it shows. Hi, Wanted to post an update on a previous incident. After the owner heard of our experience and our issues with their staff during our last visit , they did performed a text book recovery: they offered to groom our dog free of charge to make up and also called in to hear from us directly what happened. Negative service incidents do happen. But the fewest work their way through the recovery process to make sure that all the wrinkles are ironed out. We will stay with this groomer. read more

If I could give this place 4 negative stars I would. If you value your dog, your time, and your money do not send your dog to this establishment. Yesterday, our Wheaton Terrier was dropped off for doggie daycare & a bath. When I arrived to pick him up he was missing his Kong collar , his I.D. tag, and his MDC rabies tags. The weekend manager barely had his harness on properly when I noticed his collar and tags were missing. She went back to look for it, but acted as if it was no big deal and I was a bother for her to search for it.She stated she would search for it in the morning when the groomer returned. Today,(Saturday, Feb.10th) she did not call me to update me on the collar situation. Instead, I had to call them twice. The first time I called she was busy & told me to call back later. Second time I called she admitted they had lost the collar or sent it home with another dog. I have asked to speak to the owners twice now each time she has said they will call me and no one has reached out to solve this problem or make the situation right. I might over look this if it was the first time this had happened, but unfortunately on separate occasion while our dog was there for boarding they sent us a picture of the wrong dog. They seem to mix up things a lot, it looks disorganized, and though they do a lot of business I highly believe the quality of the services they offer have gone downhill. read more

I took my beautiful fur baby to dog town today. I have been to this wonderful magical dog heaven before and every time I go it never seems to disappoint me or my fur baby. My Pom Pom came out wagging his tell and feeling sexy. He got a mani pedi haircut and even got his teeth brushed. He loved it and told me all about it when I got home I was running late and the groomer was very understandable not to mention she gave me everything I asked for. BEST PLACE BY FAR! i have been going to this place since i heard it was opening and i always recommend all residents and guests from my job at The Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove to this establishment! :). I used to go to the Groomer in Coconut Grove, Lovely pets, and i am glad that a REAL groomer is now available in Coconut Grove. Dogtown makes me believe that the owner is a true dog lover and just by the looks of the place is all i need to feel like this place is the right one to take my dog. Every time i ask for a specific cut, they get it exactly how i ask! and once, i asked to get the flea and tick bath but the gentleman there said that he will check first and see if it is needed and if not, he wont do it so i don't have to spend the additional $15. The fact that they are not trying to squeeze all your money makes me feel that this place is ethical and beyond helpful! Tther groomers, when you arrive all they do is grab your pet and take him/her to a back door where all you hear are barks and leaves you wondering what goes on in there.. At Dogtown, there is a giant glass wall that lets you see everything and all the dogs (the ones who behave of course) are wondering around like a dog park which makes things less stressful for the dog. i would have to drag my dog to get inside at other groomers but she LOVES going to Dogtown! you have earned a customer for life! read more

This has been my first time here and I am very pleased with the service! My dog is very uncomfortable when it is time to get groomed and gets pretty depressed when they leave him in a cage. The fact that they don't cage the dogs here and they groom them in 2-3 hrs is incredible and one of the reasons I decided to try this place out. He got an amazing haircut (pretty difficult to do because he has different shades in his coat, and the groomer did an excellent job to make them transition into each other) and got his nails trimmed quite effectively since my dog hates getting his nails cut. I even got an upgrade for an especial oatmeal shampoo when I checked in in Yelp. This is definitely our new place for grooming from now on. read more

Dogtown has been a phenomenal experience for my lab, Arrow and I. We have been going here for around 2 years and he always comes home from either daycare or the hotel happy and tired from all of the playing. It is also comforting to have us be greeted by name when we walk in, especially in Miami!! The employees truly love their jobs and are great with the dogs! We have only had one incident where Arrow was playing too hard and had a small scab on his ear (presumably from a dog that was sick of playing with him). Because of that, he had to be turned away from daycare for the week while it healed. They were so gracious and understanding since he suffered it during a weekend stay that they provided us with a few extra days on our daycare pass--a kind, yet totally unexpected gesture that echoed the recommendations I had received from others to bring him there. He was (understandably) nervous when we started going their for daycare but after a few weeks he would get so excited when we turned down the street for Dogtown. I would recommend Dogtown for anyone that is looking for pet boarding, daycare, or grooming. read more

I absolutely love this place! My dogs Shawn and Juelz love it as well! I work right next door and this is super convenient for me so I thought I'd give it a try. My dogs have been to other daycares but this is by far my favorite that they've been to. The staff are very caring and welcoming to both my pets and I. I ask for text photos all the time and the staff is never annoyed by that and send me pictures of my dogs. (Which is an amazing thing because most daycares won't take the time to do so) my dogs come home tired and wiped out which means I know they had a good day. They do walks outside which is awesome as both my dogs love going on walks- during pick up one day I even saw my dog getting extra love and kisses as they crossed the street (super cute!!) not to mention when my dog got surgery for a long over due health concern, they took the time out of their days to ask to see how he was doing and welcomed him back a month later with open arms. love this place! read more
