About a year ago, I tried to bring my dog here for a grooming appointment... Less than 30 minutes later Dogtown called me to inform me that my dog had pooped a tapeworm and to please come to pick up my dog because they would not groom him if he had tapeworm. I took him to the vet to obtain a sample of my dog's stool, and he tested negative for tapeworm. Bottom line, Dogtown did not want to groom my dog, and quite frankly I would have preferred for them to tell me straight up that they did not want to groom my dog instead of saying my dog had a tapeworm infection. I tried to address this with the owners, and I received runarounds. I asked them to provide me with scientific proof that my dog had tapeworm... No response. This experience was absolutely ridiculous. Zero stars. Don't bring your dogs here, you dogs deserve better. read more

My puppy's hair was getting out of control and I decided it was time for a cut. I researched and tried to look for the best one which led me here to Dog Town. Since its in the Grove I figured this would be a great place. I dropped off my puppy and everything went great. I came back to see my beautiful puppy with a great haircut, smelling great and she was happy. However, upon inspecting her I noticed she was bleeding. I immediately told the lady that cut her hair & she had told me she thought she was bleeding because of heat. Yes, my puppy was in her heat season, BUT she was bleeding from one of her nipples, which had a cut. The groomer immediately went to the back and tried to sort of stop the bleeding unsuccessfully which some got in my car. I see I made a poor choice in choosing this place and won't be back. What if she had cut the nipple off? Throughout the day my puppy was acting Lethargic and whenever I'd touch her nipple she would back off and become very angry, which is very unlike my dog. Now I'm just hoping it doesn't become infected. Gotta give it to them with the grooming, but mistakes like these shouldn't be allowed. read more

If your dog is nervous during daycare they don't do anything to calm your dog or help her get used to other dogs. There's not much supervision as the staff are mostly busy talking to one another. Staff are laid back and don't seem to care about the dogs there. I would not recommend this place if your have a dog who has anxiety. I had higher expectations for this place. They never give my dog a complete and full groom. There is always long hair on her paws that I specifically ask to shorten with their 10 blade - but obviously NOT! Her tail is 3 different lengths...wth.... really???? That is why you lose customers. read more

I'm not sure what they did to my dog's anal glands but ever since I took him to Dogtown, he's been in so much pain. It started with scooting, then he slowly stopped pooping. When I called Dogtown to ask what happened, they told me my dog was scooting because he wasn't used to having his haircut. I knew this wasn't right so I took him to the vet, only to have them tell me the groomer irritated my dogs anal glands and didn't even express them. I had to pay the vet to do it correctly and buy medicine for him. If you don't know how to do it correctly, it's not worth even trying. The groomer should have never even tried to express his anal glands when they clearly did it incorrectly. I'm really upset about this because my dogs been in pain all week. I am probably going to have to take him to the vet another time if he doesn't get better. I wouldn't recommend this place at all after this experience. read more

I admittedly do not post much, however, I had a very bad experience at Dogtown and I feel I owe it to other potential patrons to ensure they - and their dogs - do not experience the same. I went here several months back for grooming. Upon entering the shop, the front desk had me sign a waiver like nothing I have ever seen in the dozens of other grooming stores I have been to. The waiver included authorizing dogtown to muzzle my dog if necessary, as well as informing me that dog grooming is an inherently dangerous activity and that I waived my rights to take any action against Dogtown if my dog were to die during the grooming. I was horrified by this waiver since (as I already mentioned) I had never seen anything like it at any grooming store to date. Upon verbalizing my discomforted with signing the form, the employee told me if I didn't sign the waiver, my dog could not get groomed. After a few minutes of thinking it over, the employee brought the groomer out to meet me and my dog and discuss my preferences for the dog's haircut. I went through in significant detail about exactly how I would like my dog groomed and the groomer agreed to the plan. After meeting with the groomer - who seemed very knowledgable - and seeing the great reviews this place had, I ultimately felt comfortable enough to sign the waiver and leave my dog to be groomed. When I came back late in the afternoon to pick the dog up, I did not even recognize her. Despite our extensive conversation and agreement about how the haircut would look, the groomer decided to shave every inch of the dogs hair off. Not shave with a number 1 razor, rather the dog looked like someone took a bic razor to her. Her skin was pink. Her paws had been nicked and cut in several places. I had to use dog sunscreen for two months after our visit because my dogs skin was so raw and exposed. It took over six months for the hair to grow back. And the hair on her tail has still not fully come in. I was disgusted by the complete unprofessionalism and overall lack of caring for the dog-which should be their top priority. They ultimately did not charge me for the haircut, but instead I wish I had never stepped foot in this place. I would never go back and I would discourage others from doing the same. read more

I am so impressed with the quality of care my puppy got when we boarded her for a week. They showed her more love and attention that she gets at home. She was completely spoiled and so happy. What a wonderful staff. I also received daily reports that made me feel close to her even though we were thousands of miles away. I have been a dog owner for over a year now, so when I had to go on vacation and couldn't take my Charlie with me, it was quite difficult to find somewhere that wasn't a kennel since he is an indoor dog and at times has separation anxiety. After doing my research I came across Dogtown on Yelp and wow it's been great ever since! Charlie loves his hotel stays and every time we call to see how he's doing we hear nothing but great things. The best thing is the individual suites instead of cages and the boutique style atmosphere which gives my pup more attention, which he craves from everyone of course. Dogtown you guys are great! I see that there are only good reviews here, so maybe I just had really really bad luck. . I took my dog Oliver for the first (and last) time to be groomed and when we got back home after I realized he was acting weird, not really walking around, just sitting there squinting his eyes. So I called Dog Town to see if maybe something had happened and I was assured that everything was fine, I was told "he probably got a hair in his eye". The next day when we woke up, my dog could not open his eye, it was sealed shut with mucus. I took him straight to the vet where he was examined and I was told that he had a chemical burn on his cornea. After the vet I went to Dog Town to tell them what had happened and all they had to say was "oh no, I guess he needed sensitive shampoo, we'll put a note in his file for next time". Not only did they burn my dogs cornea, I spent $55 on the grooming and another $60 at the vet. I understand accidents happen, they can happen to anyone, but Dog Town handled this situation so poorly. I recently brought my frenchie in for a nail trim here. I was really hoping that this could be the spot I could begin bringing my dog to regularly. I moved from Broward to MIA and utilized the same groomer for my dog for almost 4 years. I was sad to move away and no longer be able to bring him there. I decided to give this place a try because of the reviews and close proximity to my new place. First: I called twice in an attempt to get an appointment. The first phone call was fine. I spoke to an informative, patient gentleman who informed me that for a simple nail trim I could just call in advance for an appointment but that the groomer had left for the day. No biggie. I call a couple days later a girl answers the phone and she says "only if you can come right now". Luckily, I live close and was able to swing by. Upon arrival, I am not greeted by any of the 3 employees present. The girl behind the desk did not acknowledge me at all. As someone who works in hospitality, I gave her the benefit of the doubt because sometimes people are occupied or in the middle of a task. If that's the case usually the person behind the counter acknowledges the customer "be right with you, how can I help you?, etc. However, all I got was a blank stare that implied what do you want.... I politely said hello to the girl and informed her that my dog needed a nail trim. Still no words. Another girl came and took my pup for his trim. Without exaggeration, she returns him to me not even 2 minutes later and says: "not all his nails needed to be trimmed, so we left the short ones short and cut the ones we thought needed trimming." Mind you, it had been several months since his last trim. The nails were still long. At that point I knew that I wasn't going to return to this place. The mute girl charged me for the trim, no thank you, or have a nice day. Still not a single word!! I really was hoping that this could be my dogs new groomer. The facility looks nice and well kept. But I have to give only one star due to my experience and the service provided. I will not return and do not recommend. read more

If I go on vacation, and I can't take my fur baby bc it requires air travel, then he gets to stay at Dogtown. This is where he gets pampered and spoiled, and I get to rest easy on my vacation knowing he is having a blast and being well taken care of. He doesn't stay locked up in a kennel here. He gets his own suite, he gets to play with all the other fur guests, he goes on walks, and he gets to go to the dog park for an hour once a day if I choose that extra option which I get because, well, I am a sucker for my baby. Needless to say, he comes home spent from all the activity he gets. He also comes home smelling clean, which I hope wears off soon because frankly, I love his dirty dog smell. Ha! ... No really, I do. But, they give a regular exit bath a little while before you pick up your pooch, or you can also choose to have them fully groomed, which includes all the nitty gritty stuff like squeezing the oh so precious anal glands, cleaning of the ears, and clipping of the nails. We've also dropped him off here a few times to just get groomed, and we wouldn't go anywhere else. If you want to best for your pup, go to Dogtown! Oly (my fur baby) fully approves this review. My dog recently participated in doggy day care as well as was boarded for 4 days. This is only the 3rd time we have ever boarded our dog and the first time in almost 2 years! The last two experiences were not great and my dog came home very nervous and like he hadn't slept the whole time he was there. When we discovered Dogtown we decided to give them a try as our normal dog watcher was also going to be out of town. The fact that they use snapchat helped me so much! I was constantly checking to see if they would show my dog. The first time I watched I could see my dog playing in the background and his tail wagging. It made me so happy to know that he was having a good time and he was being watched. We will definitely be back for daycare and if we ever need to board our pup again! read more

My golden/duck toller mix is extremely high energy and since we've only had her 6 months we were of course dying at the thought of having to cage her up at a boarding facility especially during the week of Christmas. After countless calls and visits to local places in the gables and doral area, I came across Dogtown on Yelp. Sounding too good to be true, I decided to drop in before booking and let me tell you, one foot in and i could not believe there were dogs in there! IT SMELLED CLEAN. No chemical smells, or stinky pups, a ridiculously cute boutique (we ended up getting some treats for our pup) and booking her for the weekend. No cages, and the dogs were free roaming in the facility. They were even sweet enough to work with us, as I was having a friend drop and pick up our pup & we were kind of those parents that call on the daily just to see how it was going.. My dog Marley loved it even more, she slept like a baby for 2 days after tearing it up with the loose pups on site. Will definitely be bringing her here for our next travel dates. read more

I would like to start off by saying that I have the utmost respect for the Dogtown staff and they have always been extremely resourceful, respectful, and caring towards my dog. My issue is with the owner, Chris. I had been taking my dog to Dogtown for about a year and a few weeks ago my dog suffered a gash under her eye while she was at Dogtown. She was sent to the vet next door while I was at work... Once I arrived and I spoke to the vet she asked me what happened? I told her I had no idea what happened and that it happened at dog daycare next door. She immediately told me she believed she either suffered a BITE or SCRATCH under eye. Luckily she did not require stitches as it is a very sensitive area under her eye. The vet was able to glue her skin that had fallen off. My dog was given a cone and she used it for about a week until her skin fell back off in the middle of the night. I took her to the ER in which they told me she would have a big scar under her eye. Fair enough. Dogs get in confrontations and accidents occur. Absolutely no issue with that. I then proceeded to ask more or less what happened at Dogtown and they informed me the owner would call me the next day to let me know and he would look through the camera footage they have at the facility. One, two, three, four days pass and no call. Then on the fifth day he calls me. As he speaks to me in a rapid voice with an agitated tone, he tells me that the injury was not a serious one. After this, he tells me that he spoke to the people at the facility and they had told him that no fights had occurred. Fine. I politely ask him if he could please check the camera footage and he gives me a very interesting response. "I do not want to have to look at 12 hours of footage to see what happened. What most likely happened was that she jumped out of her cage where they were feeding her and she hit her eye." I politely ask if he could just check for me to give me piece of mind. He repeats what he told me a couple of other times. Attitude ensues and a small chuckle arises telling me he will check. One, two, three, four, five days pass and I call repeatedly to see if he was able to check. I get a response from one of the workers that he says he was able to see that she jumped out of her cage. I have always known that she jumps out of her cage or the play pin but she has never suffered an injury and it is not likely that she can get a big cut directly under from jumping out of a cage... Does not make sense. We finally spoke on the phone today and he proceeds to tell me that he indeed in fact see that she jumped out of her cage while she was being fed. That solves NOTHING. No one has disagreed that that was a scenario. I then proceed to ask him if he could please check better to see what happened and he tells me again, "I don't want to watch 12 hours of footage." Let me mention that I took my dog for 6 hours to day care and not 12. The attitude and the arrogance off that response startled me. If I am an owner of a store and a client comes to me with a complaint I will do my best to accommodate their needs or concerns especially if it involves a loved one. Or am I wrong to think this? I then proceed to ask him that I would like to have him check better and if he can't I would be more than willing to look at the footage. Sure enough he quickly whips around saying that no one but him can look at the footage. Your store, your rules, I get that. I then tell him that if he can't check the footage for me that he would be losing my business, he chuckles. I hang up. If you do not know what happened, then admit it but DO NOT tell someone that they think this or that happened. Be specific, admit your wrong but to be so god damn lazy and brash about the situation is insulting, disrespectful, and rude. A loyal customer wants peace of mind and clarification and having the owner be such a douche is not a place I recommend one to take their dog. read more

Fantastic grooming! My Cavalier looks perfect and I couldn't be happier. We had an awful experience elsewhere (you can read my post about Applause your Paws) and was in search of a better solution. Much to my surprise, I found the BEST solution!! Angelica is terrific. The rest of the staff is attentive and sweet. The facility is clean. And, after I called to make the appointment, I was directed to the website to complete the new client forms. YES! They insisted on medical/shot records!! I didn't have a great experience, but how the owner handled it was superb, winning my business back for a long time to come. I paid with square, and in the survey simply put that I had a negative experience. The owner called me almost immediately to hear exactly what had happened so he could address the situation. My first experience here was a little underwhelming but the owners contacted me personally to apologize for what they saw as unacceptable customer service and convinced me to give them another try. I couldn't be more impressed. Not only do they clearly value customer service but upon picking my dog up they were able to tell me details about his personality and described what he had been up to all day. It showed that they really paid close attention to the dogs in their care. My dog obviously loves it there. I can't walk withing two blocks of the establishment without him pulling towards their front door. I will be taking my dog here every Tuesday for daycare for the foreseeable future and if I ever need boarding or long term dog care it's the first place I will call. read more

Today, after many years of not going to Dogtown, I decided to take my 4 year old Maltese, Henry for a simple groom (no haircut). I just got home to find my dog looking as if I had given him a bath myself. After paying $65 plus tip, I think that the least that should've been done is properly brush my dog's hair. He left the grooming at 5pm. It is now 7:50pm and his hair is still wet and he smells like he was out in the rain. I thought this place had gotten better since there are many good reviews but unfortunately, that's not the case. I guess they are a good hotel but if you're looking for grooming, this is obviously not the place. I'm so upset to have gone back there again. They were awful with my previous dog's grooming and they continue to be the same. Their groomers seem to not care or maybe they're just too busy to give a damn. Awful! Never again! read more

What an awesome find! SO happy! After giving up on any grooming services that don't cost over $100.00, a friend told me about a place he saw in the Grove. I called, got a quote for shampoo and full groom (including shave) and made my appt. Dogtown is clean, nicely organized and smells lovely! (And they offer comp Keurig coffee for two-legged customers.) Anai was very nice, very thorough and welcomed my four-legged family member. When I arrived to pick her up - she looked fantastic, smelled fantastic and looked SO happy!! This is not your standard grooming "salon"! The price they charged was exactly as they had quoted - no up-sell, no add-ons I did not ask for. I will definitely return! read more

I have never reviewed on Yelp before but felt compelled to do so for Dogtown. When I looked for doggy daycare for my puppy, I went to a few places and was disappointed with what I saw until I got to Dogtown. First, the people who work at Dogtown are always nice and excited to tell you how your dog did for the day whereas at other places, they act as if you're bothering them by simply being there. Second, there is no smell. The other places I checked out had such a thick smell that you choked on it when you breathed it in. Whenever I pick my dog up, there is almost always someone cleaning. They really keep the place clean and smell-free. Third, using Dogtown on a regular basis costs as much if not maybe two dollars more per day than using a dog walker. 8-12 hours of puppy socialization vs. 30 minutes with a dog walker. It's a no-brainer. Lastly, the owners are awesome and truly passionate about what they do. It doesn't really get any better. read more

I take my 4 babies here. Angelica is my groomer.....she pays attention, is so careful with my special needs babies, and she does a great job. Appointments are timely and I won't go anywhere else. Very upsetting experience. I left my 5 1/2 lb Maltese to be groomed and when I picked her up, she was limping. They seemed to have strained her shoulder while shaving her! I am so grateful and have such peace of mind being able to drop my pupper off here. She is always super excited to go to Dogtown. We go at least three times a week and she will literally pull me in the door and to the gate to greet her friends. It's wonderful to know she is so well-cared for and that I have a place that my pupper loves to go when I work long hours. It's clean, indoors, and the animals are protected from the elements. The entire team is friendly, and seeing how comfortable my dog is with EVERYONE there makes Dogtown a true asset. I'm very grateful to have found it and my dog absolutely loves it! read more

I have a 90 pound American Bulldog mix, so when I go out of town, I can't just leave him anywhere. I've left him at Dogtown three times now and I can't rave enough about how friendly the staff is, how clean the location is (play area, kennels, beds) and how relieved I feel knowing I can leave my dog there and not have to worry about a thing. I bring my dog to Dogtown to get her nails clipped, and I am just not impressed. For $10 I expect to get my pup back with cleanly cut nails, cut and filed down. The first time, they didn't cut the dew claw, which gets the longest! The second time, the guy came out into the store front, grabbed my dogs paws, and cut them right there. 30 seconds later, he's gone, leaving my dog with ragged nails and clippings all over the floor. I'm fine with a quick clip, but charge me $5 for that. The price and the quality just don't match. read more

I am extremely happy with the quality of service and people at Dog Town. From the owners to the groomer, everyone is so friendly and professional. This past weekend, I dropped off my pups off to be groomed. I got to meet with Tom, the groomer, beforehand so we could discuss their haircut. He was extremely nice and my shy dogs took to him well. My favorite part of this place is that the dogs can either hang out in a community play area while they wait their turn to be groomed or in a spacious enclosed suite...which means no caging for my little ones which they greatly appreciate as well. When I came to pick them up, their hair was perfectly groomed and they smelled amazing. I will definitely be dropping my dogs off there for their future grooming needs. Highly recommend! read more

Thank you for your response. I think there was some miscommincation on the part of your staff. I would never offer to mussle my dog nor has my dog ever needed to be mussled as she has not exhibited any aggressive behaviors before. In addition i dont even own a mussle so and it would be a tad bit inhuman to have my dog who is a part of my family mussled for two weeka. As stated in the review you labeled my dog as aggressive and continue to do so, which is why I gave your organization a one star review. I would suggest to any owner who visits this site to be aware that your mom and pop shop, as you refer to, it is not epuip to handle certain situations and will refuse services regardless of the inconvenience to the customer. Furthermore, the loss of income to your shop when you refuse service to a customer due to your lack of knowledge and choatic establishment practice is not the fault of the customer. I just wish I would have taken the time to read up on the reviews of your place of business before reserving a room. read more

Heard about Dogtown through yelp & decided to give it a try for my friends husky (capitan) . Upon calling the service was very friendly and wow was I impressed with how the accept dogs. As a dog owner of 5 , I consider them family & I was very pleased to know before you can drop off any dog, they must have all vet papers faxed. Also when you arrive they see if the dog interacts well with other dogs.. also they ask if he is aggressive, ever attacked another dog, etc... The whole process is very detailed to ensure that the dogs are safe. When I arrived to drop of Capitan I was very happy to see they let the dogs roam free & the employees are trully dog lovers because they pet them & even let them sit on the office chairs in the front. In my opinion the best dog hotel I have ever seen. It is pricey due to being in the grove & the proximity to cocowalk, but its worth every penny. The even ask if you have any special requests for your dog so they can accommodate him/ her as well as possible. They even offer SUITS for the dogs that are big more pricey to ensure your dog may spend a couple nights in a more spacious luxuries space. If I have need anyhelp to leave one of my 5 dogs I know where to go. read more
