Interesting cafe. We were searching for some gelato in Michigan since we have been craving it since we had some of the best on our summer vacation. We happened upon this place while we were on this side of town. It was pretty good. I got some sort of chocolate- hazelnut scoop with fudge, rice crispies, and vanilla cake. I enjoyed it. Since gelato tends to be a very small serving at a pretty large price, the double was small but not too small, and pricey but not too pricey. Overall it was a good experience. They had some interesting looking cakes and an espresso machine. Guests were ordering a lot of espresso that looked pretty good. read more

Seems like guys enjoy drinking their espresso and kibitzing with their buddies. So obviously they also serve espresso drinks, along with other desserts, including small fruit tarts, cake, cookies, brownies, eclairs, cannolis, etc. Open space, lots of small tables inside and larger outside, comfortable temperature, bright. There was only one person working, it seemed. She was nice. Unfortunately, the tables were not wiped down, since we saw crumbs and dried up gelato on our table. But has anyone been to an ice cream shop and tables were always immaculate? Message me if you do. But, back to the gelato... At first blush, seeing that the gelato wasn't neon colors, rather muted pale, then it may be authentic. And it was. We tried chocolate, hazelnut, hazelnut-cake-whipped cream thing, and banana. Hazelnut was my favorite. Smooth, cool, and delicious. Disappointingly, the banana flavor tasted like Lafffy Taffy banana. A single scoop is 3.99; doubles 4.99. There were more size options. Ok this is one of them hidden gems in Clinton Township that not too many of you know about. When you come here, expect the unexpected they have delicious homemade gelato not to mention the café to boot! The service here is phenomenal in the ambience is definitely worth checking out. super relaxing vibes. I've lived here for 10 years and can't believe I just found this place. Their gelato is amazing! I like to mix the toasted marshmallow with the hazelnut. They are happy to give you a sample of any flavor you want. In addition to their amazing gelato is their cake selection. An added bonus you can buy many of the cakes by the slice. I was planning to go to dairy queen right across from Wise Guy's Bar at first but i found this place after a lil bit of research and decided to try it instead. Very nice place with many tables to sit and theres a patio outside. Theres many flavors to choose from the gelatos and best part is you can try and free sample on all of them. They even sell cakes and other italian pasteries. Im a hazelnut guy so i had to get a scoop of hazelnut and it was really good. Dolce Gelato Cafe is a fantastic place to indulge yourself with homemade natural ingredients ice cream while sipping a cup of joe. I'll definitely be back to try all of their flavors! read more

Went with the family, the inside of the cafe was very clean, the owner was so warm and friendly. She explained all the flavors and we were allow to sample before deciding our gelato flavors. I have never had any type of gelato short of wonderful here. The atmosphere is fantastic-- on any given day you feel as if you've been transported to Italy with futbol on TV, and older men drinking espresso and chatting in Italian. Their homemade gelato is all divine, my personal favorites being the white chocolate raspberry and the strawberry. Their canolli's are also off the hook (they're filled fresh when you order them) and generally only $.99 for a large one. This is a very important spot for my fiancé and I as it was the perfect first date place in the summer 2010, and has been a staple in out romantic celebrations since. This cozy café with patio chairs has an excellent assortment of real gelato, and they always have a new flavor to feature. There are sometimes a few Italians hanging out on the patio but it is a very inviting place, legit gelato (a rarity), easy to locate, and certainly affordable. I really enjoyed Dolce Gelato Cafe. The cafe truly reminds me of a gelato cafe one would find in Italy. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and certainly Italian. They had both classic and unique flavors of delicious gelato. I personally tried the Pistachio, Nutella, Coffee, and Cassata. All flavors were excellent, but the Cassata stood out with the chunks of cake throughout. Dolce also sells gelato cakes, cassata cakes, croissants, and coffee beverages. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the cake I purchased from this cafe. I picked up a cassata cake which had a very odd flavor. It tasted like they put too much vanilla or something in the actual cake. The cannoli filling had a thick consistency. I have purchased cassata cakes from other places and they never tasted like this. Also they were unable to write the a name on the cake so instead I had to get a piece of chocolate with writing already on it. Very disappointed. read more

please, whatever you do... DONT come here. It is a rip off and overpriced. This place was recommended by a friend. Place a semi huge order with the owner weeks prior and asked if she's able to do it. She said yes, she can do it. 1-2 weeks leading to the date for the sweets to be ready I ask the owner to provide cost and grand total. She wouldn't give exact. A few days to a week leading to the event I ask again about final cost and confirmation to pick up everything the day before. she gives me a price (different than the first time) and tells me my stuff won't be ready until the day of the event in the morning when she opens the cafe. I accepted and the day of event I call and ask for the owner and the lady tells me the owner is gone For the day. So I tell the lady I'm coming shortly to pick up the sweets and then the owner magically appears on the phone. She's apologizing and telling me to come later that morning so everything will be ready. I told her I can't due to the event starting early and everything needs to be picked up then. As I walk into the cafe, it is crowded and EVERY table is full... NO ONE IS MASKING. Not the owner, the employees or the customers. She made me wait 30 more minutes at the store because my order was still not ready putting me behind the rest of the day. I will NEVER frequent this place again--first and very terrible experience. Save your money for elsewhere. I told all my family and friends not to come here. read more
