Confession, I am a dessert guy overall in terms of food I will always go desserts for food and this place had it all you had can choose from gelato from cakes, both cheesecake and chocolate cake cakes, and you have different varieties of chocolate and it was just a comic book fairytale type of location that combines the Middle Eastern flavors with some popular taste like carrot cake, and irregular cheesecake but you could also get baklava and Dubai chocolate. Service was great when we went there and it was not too long of a wait they were pretty attentive and they also gave me a free hot water which I appreciated.

What a gem of a find! This is a small shop walking distance from the convention center with the cutest interior and most friendly staff/owner! We stopped in for a lunch break from a conference. The handmade pastas including ravioli and lasagna were absolutely amazing. The pizza was just okay. Their desserts are a highlight--she does not bake with any unnecessary sugar but uses syrups or honey instead where she can. The desserts are just perfectly sweetened without being too sweet. Her macarons have perfect chew and are nicely filled out shells. The tiramisu was fantastic as well. Check out this relatively new restaurant and support them to grow!

This place is super cute! It's located just around the corner from the hubbub on Roosevelt Row. There is a very European feel about it with velvet upholstered and bistro chairs on frilly iron tables. I absolutely love the rose covered telephone booth and the blue panel front counter. They serve flavored coffees here, as well as pizzas, fresh pasta, sandwiches, and a wonderful variety of desserts in a long case. You know up to the counter to order and pay and then your food will be brought to your table. We ordered the Milano sandwich with mortadella and prosciutto, which was absolutely delicious. We also ordered a Mekk's Signature pizza, which has prosciutto and arugula on it. Definitely different than some of the pizzas were used to around here, but it was so yummy. We topped it off by sharing a slice of very rich and luscious chocolate layer cake. We enjoyed the pizza and sandwich so much that we are making plans to return for the pasta. And of course the super cute atmosphere!

Sampling new lattes. I love that this new Dubai inspired blend isn't sweet. Perfect balance of espresso and pistachio.

This is just what downtown Phoenix needed. A super lovely family owned cafe with affordable pricing and the best pastries. They have free password protected wifi if you want to work remotely for a few hours here. If you want oat milk, almond milk or any substitutions like that they will do it for free! Yes, no extra charges. It was a bit early for me to order a slice of cake but the owner said she's making 5 kinds of tiramisu available around 1pm (strawberry, Dubai, lemoncello, traditional, and pistachio). I ordered a small vanilla iced latte and the family gave me a medium which was too kind! It was my first time visiting and I did ask for more espresso and she did it for me at no charge. WOW! I'm telling you, this really is a lovely small business to support. On the weekends they have the freshest pastries! So definitely come back for those on Saturday and Sunday. If you just need a quick energy drink, they have incredibly affordable bottles of coca colas, coconut waters, arizona iced teas, rockstars, gatorades, Celsius, Fiji and smart water and more. These are all around $2-3 and some change. Nice! I came in here for a morning cafe before starting work. This cafe is also cute in the morning because you can take some really cute photos inside at the telephone booth or at the table with the natural sunlight shining through. The macarons were yummy and I savored those.

Bird's Nest and MEKK special sandwich

I was surprised by how good the food was here and the portions. We stopped in for a little bring to go as we were walking by. We got the bird's nest, which comes with 2 and we got MEKK special sandwich which was huge, but fortunately already cut in half. The sandwich was so full of flavor and I lived the crusty bread. The bread on the bird's nest was completely different but also deliciously crunchy and chewy. I can't wait to come back and try some of the past and pizza too

    Many, many choices

Dolce Italia is such a pretty place and the pastries match the aesthetics followed by great customer service. There were many Dubai Chocolate pastries to choose from which was exciting since I've heard of it but hadn't tried it yet. The once we picked was so good and the little "crunchies" gave it an added surprise light texture and then you get hit with delicious dark chocolate. We also had a delicate lemon cake. It wasn't an overwhelmingly strong lemon flavor, just right. We also had the cannoli which was ok compared to the other 2 desserts. Inside, the decor is flirty & fun with a cute phone booth great for pics!! The only downside is the parking can be a little tricky but to be expected downtown.

Went to Dolce Italia by MeKK and tried the cannoli and the strawberry Dubai chocolate cup, both were delicious and nicely presented. The place is really pretty, with a charming Italian bakery feel. Loved the ambience, especially the nice table-and-chair setup and the cute telephone booth inside. A great spot to sit, relax, and enjoy dessert.

Mekk special sandwich & birds nest

Dolce Italia by MEKK is such a cute restaurant located in the Derby apartments in downtown Phoenix. The interior is for surely instagramable. Service was good but a little slow. The Mekk special sandwich was delicious but the bread was a little too crusty by the end and got hard and tough to eat. But I probably just need to eat faster. I need to go back and try the pastries. They looked amazing.

Pretty and Delicious!! This place is so pretty inside, almost as if I was back in Miami. But guys on top of that; the owners are so genuine and kind. They made me a sandwich that wasn't on the menu and I stupidly didn't ask for no sauce. When they offered to remake it I felt so bad and they were so gracious about it. Their croissants are so soft and buttery. But I'm telling if you love anything pistachio or tiramisu , THIS IS YOUR PLACE! The coffee is delicious. My son went back later in the same day to have some homemade pasta and said it was so good! But Yes homemade pasta. So please if you can, come support a locally owned coffee / food cafe. It's beautiful and the food is so worth it! .

Outstanding! From the lovely decor to the fresh pastry and delicious cappuccino I'm becoming a huge fan. The owners have been gracious and hospitable and the service matches. It feels like home. The coconut pie has blown me away, enough that Dolce will be catering desserts at my holiday party!) but the coffee has me coming back again and again. Accessible? I fly down here from historic Phoenix on my scooter and love the urban vibe. Their five star rating is well deserved!

    Espresso and Limoncello Cake
    Joe S.

Cute little place. Good esthetics for the Instagram generation. But the pastries and coffee serious lack. The espresso was the worst I've ever had. The machine needs service or to be cleaned.it had a burnt, sour flavor that even the sugar couldn't mask. The limoncello cake lacked lemon flavor. It was dry too. They were out of cannolis so I went with the cake. Service was great though. Cashier was friendly and attentive . But I would only go again to take pictures maybe not to buy anything, even though I really wanted the cannoli. *Update in response to the owner* Everyone's palate is different I'll give you that. I ordered a doppio espresso. It was badddd! Whether you're an expert espresso drink or a Starbucks baddie, you could tell the espresso was not smooth, rich or creamy. It had a burnt, sour taste. That's my experience. Not saying it will be everyone else's. I did highlight the cuteness of your place and the friendliness of your staff. I just personally wasn't satisfied with your products. Wishing you and your business success!

    Authentic Italian Pizza
    Giselle A.

I've traveled to Italy, and it was an absolute treat to try the authentic Italian pizza at Dolce Italia. I felt like I was in a trattoria in Naples! Their pastries are first-class. The ambiance is also pure Italy. It's a taste of Italy in Downtown Phoenix. It's family-owned, so their service is impeccable. They are also now offering gluten-free pizza crust!

    Annika O.

We loved this place! Super cute aesthetics. Good coffee, amazing food, friendly service. Cute outdoor patio with fake grass. Food was large portions and tasted heavenly. We also got a box of macarons (so good!) and the pistachio tiramisu. It was worth every second of the 25 minute drive and would do it again just for this place.

For example, coffees = Infusion Coffee Roasters in Tempe, loose leaf teas and chai = Maya Tea Company in Tucson, kombucha = Milly Moon Kombucha in Phoenix, and breakfast burritos = Lua Lua Catering. [Parking]: Mostly metered parking and I ended up parking few blocks away from the shop (plenty of metered parking spots near the intersection of E McKinley St & N 5th St). [Atmosphere]: Inside of this historic house, the wall features the work of local artists. The shop also has a cute outdoor patio area with tables. [Menu]: Apparently Matcha Latte is one of the more popular drinks here. The shop offers 12 black tea options, 9 green tea options, 8 herbal tea options, 4 white tea options, and 3 oolong tea options. *** Matcha Latte (16 oz, iced - $6.25): I was surprised that my drink was sugar free by default and I probably say yes when the staff had asked about adding sweetener. The drink was not as creamy as I thought and it was honestly a fairly mediocre drink. The drink also came with a paper straw. *** A great spot for a casual 1st date due to great vibe, but matcha latte just didn't hit the spot.

There was mainly only paid street parking options, but it wasn't hard to find any right in front of the shop. I got two drinks: Más and Abeja, to try their matcha and coffee, and really thoroughly enjoyed both. The matcha is a little bit on the milkier side, but I did enjoy that it was completely unsweetened, and leaned on the vanilla cold foam for a light sweetness. I think I enjoyed the coffee more personally, as the honey paired super well with the espresso and oat milk. The espresso is very good. I would come back if I was in the area, I just wish the parking situation was a little different!

Absolute Perfection! Hands Down the Best Coffee in Arizona!…read more My husband and I are avid flavored latte lovers, and wherever we travel, we make it our personal mission to hunt down the absolute best lattes in the area. Now that we live here, we dedicate one day a week to exploring a brand-new local coffee shop. We've been living in Arizona for 7 years now, and after visiting The Coffee Builders in Phoenix this week, my only question is: Where has this place been all our lives?! This incredible hidden gem is tucked away in the Warehouse District and is a bit out of sight--you'd likely never just stumble across it unless you were explicitly looking for it. But the moment you walk through the doors, you are transported. The architectural design is completely unexpected, modern, and striking--especially the gorgeous, geometric upside-down wooden pyramids stretching across the ceiling. It creates an upscale, unique atmosphere unlike anywhere else. Now for the main event: the drinks and food. I ordered the Orange Blossom Latte and my husband ordered The Slopes. Both drinks were absolutely outstanding. They were rich, velvety, thick, and incredibly creamy with deep, distinct flavor profiles. Best of all, they weren't overly sugary--which is huge for us since we typically prefer our coffee at half-sweetness. To pair with our drinks, we tried the Blueberry Bourbon Maple Pastry. It was phenomenal: flaky on the outside, light and pillowy-creamy on the inside, beautifully balanced, and generously loaded with fresh blueberries. The staff was highly professional, exceptionally welcoming, and deeply knowledgeable about their shop and everything on the menu. From this day forward, The Coffee Builders is officially our #1 favorite coffee shop in AZ. Do yourself a favor, make this a top priority on your bucket list, and treat yourself--you will not be disappointed!
