When going downtown for a meeting, I had a need for a coffee and decided to avoid the coffee shop with the mermaid and the green aprons. I found this hidden gem. Walking in, I really enjoyed the feel of the shop to include the fake brick wallpaper. The only thing better would be exposed brick. I ordered a nonfat vanilla latte then requested the key to the restroom. The restroom is outside and the key is kept by the door. I came back from the restroom and found my latte done and tasted amazing. The restaurant was empty when we arrived but quickly filled up, including on duty firefighters. This truly is a great neighborhood coffee shop that I truly appreciate. This is the cutest coffee shop I've found in AZ so far. I'm from California and we have Tierra Mia. This shop in AZ reminds me of it so much! It has delicious Hispanic/Latino drink flavors that are so good. The muffin I bought even had concha sugar on the top. It was amazing! The shop itself is adorable. I love the decorations and tiles they have making the facade homey and beautiful. I don't spend much time near this part of town, but when I saw this place on Yelp, I knew I had to try it! There's a parking lot on McKinley St that you can use if you're not getting here via public transit or on foot. I came by with a friend on Sunday morning (around 10am). And we were greeted as soon as we walked in. We took a while to decide what we wanted (everything sounded so good!) but the servers were patient with us. We ended up opting for the Chai-Chata, Churro Latte, and two Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Bagels. There were a few folks waiting for to-go orders, but this didn't stop us from getting speedy service. Based on the Yelp reviews, I thought this place was going to be much smaller than it was (there was three tables insides, and a bar space), and plenty of outdoor seating (with complimentary iced water available outside). All in all, I thought the shop was cute, the menu was extensive, and the prices were comparable to others in the area. The drinks are definitely sugar-forward (as opposed to coffee- or tea-forward) but they're also a one-time-treat kind of thing, so I also didn't feel too guilty about chugging it down. Cute vibe, relaxing with a nice back patio space. Our flight consisted of: Shaken espresso piloncillo which is espresso and oat milk with a brown sugar flavoring with some added cinnamon on top. Very yummy and I enjoyed how you could taste the coffee and it wasn't overwhelmed by milk. Marias latte which is a cookie butter latte. Very surprised at how good this was, anytime I get a cookie butter syrup, you cannot taste the flavor at all. This was delicious and the flavoring was spot on. Flan latte was our absolute favorite. It's definitely on the sweeter side, but the foam on top was silky smooth and it was sooo creamy. Top notch! Lastly was the mazapan latte, which unfortunately was underwhelming for my taste. Very milk forward, couldnt taste much coffee or flavor from it. Would opt out of this one next time. We also got ham and cheese on a bagel since they were out of croissants. It's not that it was bad but it didn't stand out compared to the other drinks. A little bit milked down. But the whip topping with the mazapan crumbles were tasty. For a breakfast Sammy I had the ham and cheese on a bagel. It was so simple but honestly hit the spot. The baristas were sweet and attentive and that added to the experience.
