Serving a party of 35 is not an easy task! We were in the back party room with tables set up in a U and the room could easily accommodate twice that many people. The service was impeccable and impressive because the waitstaff were obviously highly trained and attentive, knowing exactly when a wine or water glass needed filling, food was served quickly or when dishes or utensils needed to be changed or cleared. House red & white wines set on the table in carafes were constantly refilled and crusty Italian bread was in no short supply. Our select menu started with antipasti, served family style, starting with Crispy Calamari and Breaded Zucchini & Yellow Squash, all perfectly batter dipped, breaded and fried. The squash were super hot and almost burned my tongue, but you know they were seasoned right as they came out of the hot oil, perfectly golden and accompanied by sweet marinara sauce. These were followed by Mussels Marinara, all plump and sweet. Following a traditional Italian meal, the pasta course was served in the form of Penne a la Vodka for everyone. We had a couple of vegans and gluten-free diets in our party and they were accommodated without hesitation. For entrées, we had a choice of Fillet of Sole Oreganata, Italian NY Strip Steak or Veal Sorrentino, all with a side of sautéed string beans and a cheesy croquette. I opted for the flounder which was very flavorful and of course heavy on the garlic. My wife had the steak and I was most grateful that she shared some with me. For the vegans, the chef was able to make a Grilled Vegetable Medley and for the gluted-free, Grilled Pork Chops. Of course, dessert was served family style as well with Italian Cheesecake and Tartufo w/ Layered Chocolate & Vanilla Ice Cream, all washed down with coffee, espresso or cappuccino. I even took the ice cream out of my tartufo and made my own affogato, though they probably would have made me one! I would love to come back for a repeat performance of this amazing evening!

One of the best experiences I've had.! We had reservations and was seated right away . It was clearly not a busy evening but it was perfect . The ambience was giving romantic vibes. Our server did an amazing job. He went over the specials with us and it was such a hard decision because everything sounded so good We settled for zucchini flowers , octopus, calamari meatballs for appetizers , entrees were chicken Marsala , salmon pieces wth pasta and peas , sea bass , and pork chops. Hope I didn't forget anything as it was so much food We also had red and white wine . Everything was extremely delicious ! The calamari needed a kick of flavor/spice but otherwise everything tasted incredible ! Desert was heavenly. I will definitely be back! Amazing food and service !

Word: Amazing. I mean from the second I walked into Dolce Vita it was a fabulous experience. This is truly and neighborhood hidden gem of an Italian restaurant. You walk into a lovely bar area and are immediately greeted by the owner, George. A delightful person who was genuinely happy to say hello to his guests and prepare you for a wonderful meal. We were a group of 12 friends. Joe, the regular in the restaurant, hosted us and ordered appetizers to pass around including a Calamari - which was AMAZING and Mozzarella and Tomatoes, also fantastic. Sitting here was like being in an old school dining spot. It seems like everyone here new everyone here. And the newbies were welcomed to join the family. There were lots of main dishes going on around here and everyone was dipping into every thing. Not even sure of what I was enjoying BUT, I was enjoying everything. Clearly, I should have been back already but sadly I have not. I will and document more of the dishes. Some advice though... DO NOT fill up on the amazing bread... Remember to leave room for a dessert, even if you have to share it.

Luiz (Head Waiter) & Anthony couldn't have been more on point with their hospitality & professional attitude towards a total stranger. And the bartender George along with his wife, Rosanna (as a patron) couldn't have more welcoming and the most kindest people I have privilege of meeting. NOW ABOUT THE FOOD!!!! MARRONE!!! After reading rave reviews about DV on a marine park Facebook group my boyfriend and I decided to try this close to home restaurant for my birthday dinner just the two of us -DV is a visually attractive restaurant and the service and the food are AMAZING! DELICIOUS Italian cuisine and attentive service -they make a red sauce that would make any Italian grandma proud! Their menu and specials are quite extensive! We were thrilled they were offering zucchini flowers last night - we shared zucchini flowers which was lightly fried, breaded and with cheese and that red sauce -yumilicious! We also shared the stuffed artichoke - again absolutely delicious! We ordered the same main dish - seafood Fra Diavolo -warning it's very spicy but still delicious and with a very generous serving of sea food and your choice of pasta They made my birthday special when desert came around - a sparkling candle on my way too sweet cheesecake cone and almost the whole restaurant joined in to sing happy birthday! I give this great restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 because wow are the acoustics bad! We were there on a Wednesday evening and place was full mostly small and medium sized groups dining and they were noisy - if you are looking for a quiet romantic evening where you can hear each other speak unless the place is empty I don't think this would be your best pick - we really did LOVE the food and the service!

I have never heard of this place but came for an occasion tonight. I was not told much about the menu upon agreeing to attend because I am not picky. The fixed menu did not include the original offers that I discovered after. As everyone ordered nothing was appealing to me the choices were veal, chicken or fish. I asked the waiter if there was a vegetarian choice he said eggplant. The food came out as I struggled to cut the eggplant with my fork, felt like plastic was in between. I continued to try and find a soft piece maybe a hard piece of cheese but the whole thing was hard. I motioned to the waiter and told him no good. He asked if I wanted something else I was turned off by whatever that was I ate. Later came the cake which had a white hair in it along with my burnt coffee. I got up to pay my bar bill and quietly was telling the waiter what I discovered. All of a sudden a very loud voice said you can tell me,come on! Shouting. I'm the owner! I said what are you screaming for? I told him about my experience he tells me he yells because he is European. Needless to say the food did not come off the bill, the bill was given in one lump sum with the gratuity already included and tax. This owner didn't give a s--t about nothing not even a apology. Mister owner.... Your food is disgusting and so is your attitude. Yes the restaurant had people in it, probably regulars but the fixed menu with only choices that cost me $78 that I didn't even eat. That is really bad.

Came in and received a warm welcome. The waiter came quickly and took our drink order (and kept it coming). I ordered the arugula with walnut and parmesan salad which was refreshing and delicious. I followed that up with the amazing meatballs (which I could not finish, they're huge and filling). My two guests had the lentil soups (super filling) and the red snapper with broccoli and potato croquet. We were all super happy and very full. Sadly had no room to order dessert. But we will come back and try to get to the 3rd course! Amazing place to come to near home read more

Best restaurant in Brooklyn! I've had numerous meals here. Each dish is better than the next one! Absolutely incredible cuisine. Great bar! Always fun to be there. We came here yesterday...made reservations through OpenTable for 5pm and listed Birthday as the occasion celebrated. The restaurant opened at 5pm and we were the first customers to have dinner. The service for remarkable and the food was super delicious!!! When I ordered desert the water asked me if it's special since he saw my OpenTable reservation..I said yes and they put the candle on our desert....when our check arrived the waiter informed us the desert was on the house. Went here with close friends, one of which was a neighborhood guy. This restaurant was an old school Brooklyn neighborhood establishment that I haven't experienced in 30 years. The food was some of the best I've ever had and the staff was on point. We were constantly checked in on by the owner and his wife and I felt like everyone knew each other for 100 years. I cannot wait to go back for more. Do not miss out on an amazing dining experience. 100 stars. read more

Pretty good food and service. Could use a little more help when it's crowded. The drinks are big and not watered down like other restaurants. The staff is friendly. The veal t-bone was excellent but the grilled octopus was lacking "octopus". read more

I came here with a large group of people and had a room in the back: from appetizers to dessert, everything was prepared amazingly. I tried the mussels, salmon, and a friend's rigatoni: I loved all of it. The service and chef, Peter, who came out to see us were all great and on top of everything. This could definitely be a once a month, night out!!! read more

Beautiful restaurant. Vibe and atmosphere is great. Manager is welcoming to all. GreaT full bar. Bartender is awesome knows her stuff! The desserts and cappuccino are best . Food was okay. Doesn't taste homemade but ok. Great caprese salad! This spot for drinks and a dessert at bar is more likely for me as for food there another restaurant with more quality in area. But this place is so comfy and good vibes. Nice look for a date night. The male waiters could light up a bit. So serious never smile and just a bore! Bartender great and so is manager ! read more

The restaurant is beautifully renovated. The waitstaff is very attentive. Thats is because Nobody was in the entire restaurant. As the evening progressed, a total of 6 customers!!! That kinda explains why the drinks & cocktails were soooooo expensive!!! Manhattan + prices!!! Grrrr We always have a cocktail and then order a bottle of wine! Not here the wine was 200 percent markup! Outrageous!! Don't mind paying for a nominal markup but that is just greedy!!! A $7.99 bottle of wine for $42? No I don't think we will be back!!! They can rip off other customers. We won't be back read more

Excellent!! I went with a party of 8 people and everyone had a delicious meal! I had the stuffed artichoke which was delicious but I was expecting it to be a little bigger but nevertheless it was delicious. The staff was great and they even gave us a sample appetizer of their fried pasta pie which was also delicious. I will definitely be going back. read more

My husband and I wanted to take his mom out to eat for Mother's Day, we decided to give this place a try since she lives in the area. For appetizers I totally recommend the calamari as well as the meatballs! Kudos to the executive chef, the menu has classic Italian dishes as well as some unique options! My mother-in-love had salmon and spinach (she was on a diet that we didn't know about lol), my husband had bucatini(?) bolognese and I had seafood linguine--- everything tasted soooo delicious! I'm so happy we stumbled upon Dolce Vita! Great food & good service! My husband and I are planning on coming back again. read more

We were looking for a place to have a 50th birthday party on relatively short notice. George, the owner, made the choice an easy one to make. He listened to our requests: wheelchair accessible, DJ, one special outside order for one guest, and he was reasonable and accommodating. We worked out a family-style menu and boy, were we pleased. Everything was perfect-from the tablecloths we requested to the setup of the room so that there was a dance floor, to the food itself. So many people complimented the size and ambience of the room, and the food was a hit. George has a good way with people, and I'd recommend his restaurant for dinner or celebrations anytime. His waiters were helpful and professional. I will definitely be returning with family and friends. Definitely try the tiramisu and tartufo for dessert. Came here with my family for my grandmother's birthday and had a great experience. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and the service never wavered from there. The staff was super attentive and made sure to accommodate everything we wanted. On to the food- delicious!! You can tell that everything was very fresh and of the highest quality. From the baby greens salad to chicken siciliano/salmon to the seafood linguine, everything was excellent.. ohhh and get the cheesecake!!! read more

Fantastic.... we were stuck on the belt parkway going home from JFK... getting hungry... saw this place listed and jumped over to Ave N... walked in saw the white cloth table, and settled in as Alasandro gave us the specials and we were salivating. We shared 3 specials, the Salad, Pasta and Swordfish. Everything prepared to perfection and really tasty. Not a morsel left and so filling. Had top it all off with the hot chocolate bunt cake with vanilla gelato. The service was so friendly and well mannered, just enough banter without being over bearing. All a pleasant expeirence. Made a dinner reservation for 16 people for my husband's birthday and George was very accomadating. He kept me up to date about trying to seat us as soon as possible. We did have to wait a while before being seated but he gave us a free round of drinks for the inconvenience AND the restaurant stayed open later than expected. The long Island ice tea was on point. My meal was delicious, I had the chicken Francese. My husband had the 24oz steak, he said it was great. Personally, I had a wonderful time. However, my cousin ordered her food and it was the wrong order. The waiter persistently told her that the wrong order is what she ordered. He eventually went to change the order to her correct order but then told her it would take a long time so he packed it to go. The food did not take a long time to come out. So basically she didn't get to eat with us. She was very upset. Overall I give the restaurant a 4 read more

Had the pleasure of dining with my wife at this newly opened restaurant. We love the updated decor and the fact that some of the waiters from the old restaurant stayed on. The food was fresh and perfectly cooked. I had the shrimp risotto and my wife had the veal which we highly recommend. We will definitely be returning!! read more

We had the most fabulous dining experience at Dolce Vita on March 17! Wonderful addition to Mill Basin. The wait staff added to the enjoyment of the evening. Saturday March 12th 2016, my friend and I ate at Dolce Vita on Avenue N in Brooklyn. What a wonderful experience we had. The food was incredible. We ordered the stuffed portabella mushrooms and the crispy calamari with pepperoncini for appetizers. They both were out of this world. I have never eaten such a tender and flavorful portabella mushroom in my life. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, our entrées came. I had the pan roasted chicken breast. It was topped with fontina cheese, grilled eggplant and topped with a merlot demi. I substituted the side with asiago polenta fries (WHAT!!). My friend ordered the crab crusted Atlantic salmon served over a horseradish risotto cake, broccoli rabe, and a most delicious sauce. INCREDIBLE!!! Everything we put in our mouths was cooked to perfection and tasted like a little bit of heaven. When you looked around the restaurant all you saw were very happy and satisfied looking people sitting in front of completely empty plates. The portions are very large and satisfying. The drinks are made like a real drink should be. No skimping on the alcohol and mixed to perfection. Everything was so good we even ordered dessert. I ordered the a flourless chocolate cake that made my eyes roll in the back of my head but then I tasted my friends limoncello pie served with real whipped cream. The taste was amazing. Not only is the food out of this world but the waiters, bartender, chef and owners are so friendly and hospitable. I am almost afraid to post this because when the word gets out on how fabulous this place is, they might not have a table for me! read more

Over the years, I've never considered myself a regular, but I used to frequent quite a bit. Michelle's is ALWAYS clean, well stocked and full of Panamanian pride. I certainly wish a younger sect will discover this place and respect it enough to want to see it remain forever. Now, I do wish they'd bring someone on to introduce some classic cocktails and how to execute them. Some of the ingredients they use for cocktails have fallen out of favor long ago. I put it in my back pocket as a place I might go in the future. I was recently walking in the area when I noticed a sign saying it was open for coffee. Of course I went to check it out. At the main counter, they serve the classics (mocha, latte, chai, matcha) plus a few specials. My cookie butter matcha (with oat and flavored syrup) was less than 6 dollars. It wasn't my favorite matcha, it was a pretty good deal in comparison to other cafes in the area. They have a coffee club where you pay $40 a month for free drinks (coffee or tea based), 10% of items like cocktails, food and wine. Plus you are able to use their wifi in their space which has a funky plush aesthetic. Definitely good for people who need a place to work. It is an interesting way of using this space in the morning. Of course I was told about their happy hour and the jazz Mondays. I would come back to attend that.

My husband and I as well my children go to Dolce Vita regularly. The owner greets you at the door and makes you feel welcome. We have probably tried everything on the menu and I can't say a bad thing about anything I have eaten. The octopus is my favorite appetizer and spaghetti with clam sauce is my favorite entrée. You must try the lobster fra diavolo when it is one of the specials, it is out of this world!!!! The service is wonderful from the waiters to the bartenders. Its a beautiful restaurant.
