I decided to check out their offerings, since I was in the area. I never actually made it here when the cheese lady was here and they were open. Never had such luck until now. Glad I ended up going to brunch nearby. Wanted to check out their Gouda and their goat milk offerings. Could use some yummy goat milk cheese after all, right? Decided to try several of their different goat cheese Goudas. I learned that I prefer their harder cheeses, not fond of the soft cheese unless it's in a salad or something. I tried their midnight moon, ballerina, smoke, Beemster and honeybee. I ended up purchasing two 1/4 of each of the harder cheeses (Midnight moon, Beemster and Honey Bee) $46.86. The ballerina and smoked is a softer cheese and doesn't have as much flavor as the midnight moon. The midnight moon has the most defined flavor out of all that I tried today. More expensive than I would have liked, but fantastic that you can try many of them. The female staffer was more knowledgeable about the cheeses than the younger male staffer, he was nice to work with. She was just as nice. read more

They had a terrific array of cheeses, crackers, assorted gourmet teas, seasonings, accessories, meats, wine etc- whatever you'd want for a charcuterie board. I went into this store and I will DEFINITELY be coming back. I stepped inside and I felt like I was in good Cheese heaven. The cheese lady is a Michigan only franchise. The creator Kathleen started out selling cheese at the farmers market. I talked with the wonderful Mitch who informed me that his parents were the owners of this location. They were at the Grand Rapids store so much that they joked that it would be cheaper to just open one themselves and so they did. Mitch went through in depth detail about each and every cheese and What crackers and topping you should pair it with for full effect and flavor. Today I tried many including a lovely chocolate cheese and a unique Humbolt fog- which is a Chèvre made in a medieval style so you have a change in the consistency and features a soft rind. They offer cheese from Michigan and world wide upon request and I highly recommend that you come in through out the week to ask about and sample their cheese selections. They will be announcing the schedule for their cheese 101 classes held in house during the new year. I asked Mitch what would he want potential customers to know about this The Cheese Lady location and he said, "We want to make sure that you get what you love and when you get home you devour it and come back". This place is just fantastic. Hosted by a super friendly staff that's knowledgeable and who take the time to give you the 411 on what you're looking for. They offer free samples of anything you'd like to try before you buy, which honestly, probably sells a lot more cheese for them. Once you try one you'll want to try more and their cheese is the shiznit. They'll also cut whatever amount you'd like to purchase or you can have them cut whatever portion size to match what you'd like to spend. I found that their prices were less expensive than Holiday, Trader Joe's or Westborn and their quality is unmatched. They have craft beer and a small assortment of wine along with different dried meats and crackers, artisan bread from up the block, as well as a few great gift ideas, cookbooks, small batch toffees, and some other great merchandise worth looking over. This place is awesome and unique! Visited for the first time today after our stop at the Farmer's Market. Luckily we had already picked up a delicious baguette from Canelle bakery. My kids were drooling over all the cheese and wanted to taste many, which you can do! Makes it much harder to say no when the kids are ooohing and aaahing over cheese lol. You can taste anything, and the staff is super knowledgeable, so they will help you select anything, and you can buy any quantity small or large, so its perfect! I have loved all the cheese I have sampled so far but my favorite by far has been Cotswold. Every time I buy a half pound which is a pretty big chuck it is gone in a few days. My smallest loves it oddly even though it has chives and onion. So rich and tasty though. Super glad they added a location to Farmington have been T.C. location every time up in area. Great selection of crackers, breads, wines and beer to accompany your cheese too. Finally have a cheese board which looks beautiful. Worth stopping in for sure. Whenever I come back to Michigan to visit my mom, this is now a required stop. I have called ahead to make sure Kyle was there before I came in. He is the most knowledgeable and pleasant person I have ever met when it comes to the world of cheese. The other staff in the shop are always pleasant, but KYLE....just go when he is there. My absolute favorite cheese is the Mango and Ginger Stilton. It is from the English blue cheese family. There are chunks of ginger and mango that cut into a mildly sweet creamy chunk. You must pair it with the Almondina crackers/cookies that they also sell in the shop. An almost tie is with the Applewood Smoked Cheddar. It is a paprika lover's dream. I recently scrambled eggs with it and seriously almost died. My mom is coming to visit me soon, and I am sending her an order to pick up and pack in her carryon for Christmas! read more

I have no idea why there are so many reviews citing this place as friendly and helpful..stopped along to check out the wares, no greeting upon entry despite 4 staff members actively working in the front end. Despite looking around totally lost for 10 minutes staff never offered help on top of not greeting us. Staff looked right into our faces and didnt say one word. One staff member walked past me within inches and didnt say one word. We were totally ignored and treated poorly. Resulting in us feeling uncomfortable..I noticed other customers being actively engaged with staff. Although I'm typically not the type to cite racism but definitely feel my experience was based off of myself being a person of color. Would not return ever.
