a sandwich cut in half on a plate

So I will start with the Good, the prices were very low! I paid under $10 for a corned beef sandwich and a pint of potato salad. However, it wasn't very good! The corned beef was very thin and not in a good way. It seemed like store bought as opposed to cooked and sliced, not sure just a theory. Next the rye bread I asked to be grilled the worker told me they toast it. When I got my sandwich it wasn't toasted or grilled just plain bread. The potato salad was very bland like no taste at all. So if you are very hungry this place will get you food delivered quickly but it really was not great. I will try this place one more time, who knows maybe I just ordered the wrong items. 3 out of 5 stars.

So I thought this over, and Farmington Deli deserves a fair 3 stars. I'm not a huge fan of how sandwiches are prepared here. But let me start off with the good. THE GOOD, nah... THE AMAZING SERVICE I see a lot of my father's characteristics in the owner. My parents own their own Chinese carry out restaurant (don't worry Yelp, I didn't review my parent's place because it would be very biased...DUH lol) so I know how difficult it is to manage your own business. This guy, he's a breath of fresh air. You see, the owner was the only person working during a crowded lunch rush and he answered the phone while simultaneously entertaining his walk-ins (greeted his regulars by name) and assembling all of our sandwiches. I give him MAD PROPS for professionally coping with stress with such enthusiasm while ensuring every order is taken care of from start to finish. THE "EH"? I can't say it's bad. All I can say is that I'm not a big fan of microwaved sandwiches. (They are microwaved right in front of you, I'm not making this up.) I mean, I don't even microwave sandwiches at home. I use the panini maker! Ok, ok...perhaps I've been spoiled at other sandwich joints who have permanently sealed an image of a grilled Reuben instead of a microwaved one. My sandwich was mediocre but I enjoyed it because I knew the kind of person who built my lunch with love. So three stars, because I respect the owners work ethic and charisma. To be honest, that alone is enough to bring me back.

Small deli but really good service and food. I used a GROUPON to try it for the first time. The owner/server thanked me for buying the Groupon (surprise). He even suggested adding the chili and a large soda to the Ruben to use up the coupon. He said his main business was catering. I assume the catering prices were good also as the menu prices were ridiculously low. A whole Ruben $4.99. In fact most sandwiches were $4.99. Looks to me to be a good place for good lunch (often). Small but 3 tables inside and 2 outside.

I ordered the Italiano - Genoa salami, fire roasted ham, pistachio mortadella, capicola, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, on fresh focaccia bread. They have a menu board with multiple options listed. You order at the stand at the back of the store, and then our food was brought out to us even though we had ordered it to go. I am not sure if that is always the process- I was expecting to go to the counter to pick it up myself so that was a nice surprise! We ordered our sandwiches to go even though we were dining in as we knew we would be taking home leftovers. The seating area inside is no frills. They have less than 10 tables inside, and when we were leaving all of them were full with people waiting for seats. They did appear to have 2 tables outside but they were not being used as it was raining. They did have a carafe full of ice water that was self serve by the door, and they had large cups available which I appreciated! My eyes were immediately drawn to the Spicy Chicken Caesar and the Napa Club. Since this was my first time I ordered both and planned to share half of each sandwich. When I opened the Spicy Chicken Caesar I was surprised by the appearance of it. I had expected a lot more lettuce inside. It looked more like chicken salad rather than salad with chicken. The flavor was good and it was not too spicy! The focaccia was very soft. The Napa Club had great flavor to it, but when I was eating it I could really tell that there was avocado inside of it. The predominant flavor was the garlic and herb aioli. I did feel the chicken was a touch on the dry side. Overall, my experience and food were good; however, I am not sure I agree with the rave reviews. I would return in the future and would love to try some of their other meats aside from chicken, and their pasta salad also looked nice. The service was friendly and I feel like the price was fair. It's a nice addition to downtown Farmington!

I finally made it on a free morning, just in time for an early lunch. On the day of my visit, it was cold and wet, so outdoor dining was out of the question. Just inside is a large deli counter with items available for take-out. Beyond that was a large and stylish dining room, where diners enjoyed the last of their breakfasts. I was a smidge earlier than everyone else for lunch; the dining room filled up soon afterwards. I loved the huge menu - there were so many options for soups, salads (Maurice, Greek, and Cobb, to name a few), sandwiches (Reuben's, triple deckers, and even vegetarian), burgers and hot dogs, breakfasts (omelettes, waffles, and French toast), and deli classics. I opted for the Victor Special, extra cut, which included larger portions of both corned beef and pastrami, coleslaw, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing. The thinly-sliced meat was indeed piled high at the center. For my side, I had wanted the onion rings, but they were already sold out! Instead, I went with the hash browns; they were crispy with a mashed potato-like interior. In retrospect, I should have tried some of the foods I've enjoyed from my hometown: knishes, blintzes, latkes; I'm now dreaming of meals I've had in my past. Service was fine at first, but my server got busy elsewhere, and her coworkers pitched in.

The only issue is, I'm guessing the kitchen was backed up and the servers were a bit overwhelmed. We ended up having an enjoyable meal, and the food itself was great as always. And eventually someone who was not technically our server took care of us and did an excellent job. I shared eggs and challah french toast with my daughter and both were great. The latte (ehhh) ... Maybe just get regular coffee. I was in the mood but they don't do almond milk in it and it was just OK. So I wouldn't get that again here.

It's a place you'd never know about unless you drove by it or saw it recommended somewhere because people have almost never talked about it. The sandwiches range from unappetizing to great. Plenty of types to choose from and some unique options. Nothing nearly as groundbreaking as the theming implies, but far more interesting and quality than many other sandwich and sub places. Cranberry sauce on a sandwich was not invented here, but you won't find it anywhere else in the area. The salads used to be cold and unimpressive, but they've actually improved significantly. The chicken is bad and basically inedible, but that's true at almost every place of this caliber. For a few bucks more you get something way better and more appetizing than what you could at a Subway or Jimmy Johns. It's a step or two above Panera Bread. The shop is very spacious and large with a lot of cool decor and arrangements, but with the hours you'd never come here to eat in. They used to be open on Saturdays (and would sometimes hang up on you) but have cut their narrow times to basically nothing. Carryouts couldn't be more convenient. There'll be a brown bag with your name on it to the left of the counter. Online ordering is great. Location: 4* Convenience: 4* Service: 2* Product/quality: 3* Aesthetics: 4*

The same manager or owner was very chatty, I saw him cracking jokes either employees, and helping the cooks along with making my meal. I ordered the buffalo chicken salad and holy.moly. FRESH romaine lettuce, sliced tomato, cukes, and some great chicken, was enough for me to make two smaller salad (see pic)s.
