The water was so clear and the sharks were beautiful!!!

This was an incredible experience for our family of six (children ages 11-17)! Shane was very kind and accommodating on the phone and we were fortunate to be able to book this the morning of the tour! The boat ride out to the experience was about 20 minutes and super shaded as the boat was covered so no sun burn. The sharks were immediately visible from the boat which was fantastic! Our family had 20 minutes in the cage and saw about 12 sharks up close! The kids were diving down to the bottom of the cage. It was an absolutely incredible experience! Our tour guides/captain, Dustin and Tim, were very informative and made everyone feel very comfortable (even my youngest who was a bit apprehensive about doing it). I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to see Galapagos sharks up close! We will not forget it! As an aside, I would definitely recommend Dramamine if you have any propensities to motion sickness.

North Shore Shark Adventures made for an unforgettable family outing. We went as a family of five, including our youngest at 11, who was a little nervous going in but it turned out to be the choppy waves that got her, not the sharks or the cage! The crew was fantastic the whole way through, patient, reassuring, and clearly experienced with nervous first-timers. Our 12:30-2pm slot was great, though if you can snag an earlier tour, I'd recommend it since the water tends to be calmer earlier in the day. Highly recommend for families looking for a real adventure.

My husband and I went on the 8:30am ride. Martin and Maddy were great! Instructions were clear and they were easy to talk to. We booked about 6 months prior because we were really excited and had done research on who offers the best experience. The sea sickness (while pregnant) was no joke but Martin kept checking in and gave advice to walk me through it making the experience enjoyable. We definitely plan to book again in the future!

Excellent experience! Captain Tonya was awesome! Perfect day, perfect weather and TONS of sharks. Would highly recommend this trip!

I would come here every time I came back to the island. It's such a fun tour and the staff treats you like family. They teach you a lot about the sharks in the area too.

It was one of the best things to do! heading out there on the boat was a bit rough. they take your about 20ish minutes out to sea. during the ride i felt nauseous BUT i expected it due to my sensitive stomach. staff was super cool and understanding. They made sure i was ok. If your sensitive to boat rides be prepared. We got to see sharks! and being in the cage we felt real safe. the time seeing the sharks on the cage was enough for us. we didnt feel rushed either. I would definitely recommend doing this. Money worth spending for sure!

    Shark encounters

The guides were friendly and made me feel comfortable getting into the water. 8 or so sharks stayed around us the entire time, sometimes within feet of the cage. Definitely skip breakfast and bring motion sickness pills. I recommend taking an early time. A great experience, would do again!

Getting ready to watch some sharks!

Second time diving with this crew, and just like the first--top-notch! My sons and I had an unforgettable experience. The team was professional, friendly, and made sure everyone felt safe and excited. Excellent customer service from start to finish. We'll definitely be back again! Highly recommend.

Just took this amazing picture from the cage again with my regular cell phone in a waterproof case.

I spent a week in Oahu with my best friend who lives there. She arranged for us to go shark cage diving which was one of my lifelong dreams. She chose the best place for us to go. They were amazing. Such nice people. I was so excited there was two groups of us, 20 minutes each group. I was the very first person in the water, and more than half of my group got out early due to seasickness. They could see I was having the best time of my life, so they told me that I could just go ahead and stay in. They let me stay in with the second group the whole time. It was amazing. I've never been treated so great by a company that could see the excitement and happiness in my face to let me stay on longer and not make me have to pay another $100. For them to see the excitement and happiness I was having, and to let me stay in with the next group meant everything to me. I was actually the last person out of the last group. So I was the first person in the with the first group in the last person out with the second group. I definitely got my money's worth plus a lot more. Best memories ever and again, if you want to have a great experience while you're in Hawaii with some of the best shark cage handlers there are, definitely set up your experience and make reservations with North shore shark Adventures. They exceeded my expectations. Such nice people. And I plan on going again very soon and when I do I am calling them, they actually reached out to me and told me they appreciated how much I enjoyed myself. Told me to reach out next time I'm in Hawaii and they'd make sure that I got to go cage diving again. I mean they reached out to me just to tell me they appreciated how enthusiastic I was because I left such a great review. Not many people do that. Again North shore shark Adventures, best cage diving experience you can ask for and pay for.

Hi! I am going next week and am super nervous about getting sea sick or being around people vomiting lol! I bought motion sickness patches and Dramamine as preventatives. Is it bad to take Dramamine and wear a patch at the same time?

One at a time! We had no issues on our boat when we went - no one got sick, and the seas were moderate. Don't overthink it, and you will be GREAT!

Can I bring my 3 year daughter and also do you have GoPros we can rent or do we have to bring our own? Do they have video options still?

I visited there last week. Base on my experience I would not bring a child that young. I would save 7 and up and I didn’t see anything you could rent. We used our cell phones which were in plastic and go pros

Is it ok if you want to participate but don't know how to swim?

They do have life jackets but there is a lot of treading water involved in the cage to see the sharks. I rode the boat but did not go in the cage so that is an option too.

Do you guys operate rain or shine? Im going on monday and the weather forecast says 80 percent rain :(

They operate rain or shine! (Stated on their website, and I called ahead to confirm before my tour).

Aloha, Does the video package for $75 include photos of us too? Or is it entirely video? Thank you

Aloha. Our video package is video. We find because of the nature trying to film moving sharks in open ocean conditions from a pole camera that it is best to keep it in video and that video screen captures make a good option for getting still…

Can you bring babies on board? 7 month old?

yes of course try to go on the earliest tour possible when the water is nice. Aloha Joe Pavsek BTW my son was 9 months old when he went the shark cage!!!

Do you guys take pictures or videos when people are in the cage? and people can purchase it? Thanks,

Aloha, Our video service is the best way to capture your Shark Adventure. We video in 1080P-HD of…

We lucked out with perfect wind, water, and sky conditions, which made the whole trip incredible. The ride out was 10-15 min? Getting into the water was easy. Water was great! Though there weren't many, we did manage to dive next to a Galapagos shark, a jellyfish, turtle, and eagle ray (this guy was in port tho). Lilly and the entire team were so helpful and accommodating the whole time. They were fantastic about answering all of our questions and really made the process of getting in and out of the boat less stressful. I will say: you will need to have decent strength to hoist yourself out of the water from a small solo step on the boat (they help but keep in mind for my fellow limited bodied folks). On windier conditions, you will have to be a decent swimmer, too. So those not familiar with the ocean, practice at like Waikiki or hanauma bay first. We had someone swallow water on our boat and we had calmer conditions, too. I honestly wish we could have been in the water for longer, but I'm just looking at it as a great excuse to book another trip and head out again! My favorite part was actually the ride back in: the crew picked up some speed and took some fun turns, which I really enjoyed. Everything was set up to be convenient, too. They provided all the snorkel gear, including flippers and masks, and there is a cubby under the seat to keep your items safe, dry, and out of the way. Parking is readily available, so you don't have to worry about that. Just a heads up on the media side of things: they do offer professional photo packages, which run about $80 to $100. You are allowed to bring your own GoPro, but they are pretty specific about which models you can bring due to concerns about radio wave interference, so it's worth double-checking with them beforehand. Overall, it was a fantastic day out on the water with a good crew.

That actually made me feel better because all 3 of us (myself, husband, and bestfriend) get seasick. Captain Alex shook each of our hand and introduced himself to us and had rose petals and plumerias for me to use. I was soooo relieved and so thankful he went and did that. Five tiger sharks. FIVE…read more I spent the last month psyching myself up to maybe, hopefully, catch a glimpse of one tiger shark. We got five. I'm still not over it. What made this trip though wasn't just the sharks, it was the crew. Finn, Nika, Tyler, and Lochlan are the real deal. I've done plenty of excursions where the guides are clearly clocking in and counting down to the end of the shift. This was the opposite. When that fifth tiger came through, these four looked like kids in a candy shop. They were losing it right alongside us, because apparently five in one dive is extremely rare. You cannot fake that kind of enthusiasm, and it made the whole day about ten times better. They also know exactly what they're doing. Big animals, open water, and at no point did I feel anything but completely safe. The briefing was thorough, the in-water guidance was calm and clear, and it was obvious this crew has deep respect for the sharks and total command of the situation. That combination of expertise and genuine excitement is rare. Coolest experience of my life with the coolest crew on the water. If you're on the fence about booking with Deep Blue Eco Tours, get off the fence. Ask for Finn, Nika, Tyler, and Lochlan. Ten out of five stars.

On the opposite end of the beach, there is a protected area where sea turtles often bask in the sun. Please be sure to stay outside the marked red rope barriers and follow the posted signs to help protect these incredible animals and their habitat. Our only disappointment was an interaction with one of the staff members monitoring the protected area. We observed him speak sharply to an elderly visitor who accidentally brushed the red rope with her foot. Later, when our 6-year-old son politely asked whether the turtles were laying eggs, the response felt unnecessarily stern. While the information provided was helpful (e.g., that sea turtles do not nest on this beach), it would have been appreciated if it had been shared in a friendlier, more welcoming manner, especially with a curious child. That interaction aside, we had a wonderful visit and highly recommend Laniakea Beach to anyone visiting Oahu. Just be prepared for limited parking, as the small dirt lot across the road fills quickly, and expect some traffic during peak hours. If you're hoping to see Hawaiian green sea turtles in their natural habitat while respectfully observing from a distance, this is an incredible place to visit.

It's hard to believe that it's been over thirteen years since my 1st visit here. I've been back a…read morevariety of times, bringing travel companions to experience this. As the years went by, the traffic and parking situation became a nightmare for all. After parking your vehicle across the road, you start the video game Frogger in trying to navigate and dodge passing cars to cross the road. Coming this year with another 1st timer, we found a dedicated spot to park ((https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=vvIKqY2lR0itJ69ZUlXhJA).) where even the sanctuary volunteers leave their vehicles. The best part is that they installed a marked crosswalk (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=N7ZkG2n7jMLelhcy1vzRdQ) for people to cross in a more safe manner; do still exercise caution in crossing the Kam Highway. On the Tuesday early afternoon we went, the waters were rough with 30 to 40 ft waves. As a result, the beach was taped off as a safety measure. I walked to the primary beach section were the sanctuary volunteers monitored the situation to make sure visitors do not bother the wildlife here. As I spoke with a volunteer originally from St. Louis, she pointed out a seal (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=U6UBzjIUZhr2lFKcMbobiA) that made it's way to the beach to find a resting spot. As my friend and I walked back towards the open area across the parking section, we stared with other visitors towards the break line and saw smaller turtles struggling to make their way in, often catching their bobbing heads out of the water or the outline of their bodies contrasting to the clear waters. None made it to the beach, what little sand space there was, while we were there. The key to seeing the turtles is to check the tide times and trying to come when it is close to high tide. We'll see how things on my next visit, whether we have time or interest to see the turtles.
