What a gorgeous space! From the minute you walk in its a wow experience. The attention to detail is meticulous. Giant velvet chairs, that each have an iPad loaded up with magazines to peruse. Ambient lighting in the ceiling and evocative wall art helps you to relax and appreciate their services. I'm obsessed with their nail polish selection, not your typical OPI and Essie here. They carry Smith and Cult, Jin Soon and a whole wall of 5 free nail polishes, so you don't have to worry about toxic fumes, especially when you bring in little ones. I even love the music stations they play here, I don't know many salons that play Kygo. It's got a very hip vibe that you wouldn't mind hanging out in all day. The staff is incredibly friendly and customer oriented. Always offering hot tea, coffee or sparkling water. Katie and Melissa are especially accommodating and sweet. The place is absolutely beautiful. This said, the customer service is the worst I have ever experienced yet in a nail salon. I went in for a gel manicure and the execution was barely average. The hand massage at the end lasted for a minute at the most and even though the salon was empty except for one client, I was kept waiting almost 10 minutes to pay. read more

They missed spots on my nails and wouldn't put the whole cost on my gift card although I had enough money on the card. They did a very poor job, we're not friendly, and it is very pricy. My girlfriend made me come in with her one day and now I'm there with her once a month! Such a cool, relaxing environment... it's a half-hour I give to myself to just decompress and take it easy. The staff is exemplary and the salon impeccably clean-- copper bowls for soaking (most hygienic option). I was never the manicured type of guy but it's just part of my routine now and I love it. Our overall experience was ok. My mani/pedi came out great, but a couple of others' came out pretty average. Either the polish itself may have been expired, or the person rushed through the process. We weren't offered champagne, and overheard a couple of other ladies being told that alcohol is not served at this place, which does not seem to match their previous reviews. This nail salon is what Mill Valley has been needing - quiet, spotless, elegant, lovely music, an iPad full of magazines at every station, a spot to charge your phone. No more tacky, loud, rushed manicures elsewhere for me! No more being told to get up & go wash my hands in a "less than ideal" area or bathroom mid mani. I enjoyed a perfectly made latte, served elegantly and i relaxed, which is actually hard to do in a lot of salons. The staff is pleasant and quietly welcoming. Polishes to choose from are all very high end and avoid unhealthy ingredients to the extent possible. So many hot brands and colors to choose from that choice is difficult. The polish on my mani and pedi was extremely well done - as an old art major I'm pretty picky about exactly how it looks. I've returned to buy birthday and holiday gift certificates because this is a reasonably priced, elegant gift to give to anyone. I highly recommended this business. read more

Nice looking salon, spacious and seems clean. That said, odd experience. We ordered deluxe mani and pedi with gel nails. There was confusion when we get there but we eventually got it straightened out. But it took at least 10 minutes??. They also said it would take 100 minutes to do both services. They actually didn't do the manicure at all on my daughter and started right on the gel. We then asked about the manicure and there was some discussion amongst the women and then they finally did. We were in and out in 55 minutes. They put two people on each of us which shortened the time but it was not relaxing as they seem to be hurrying to get done and we had to keep adjusting for the mani person or the pedi person. At the end it was $220 dollars and they asked to be given the tip in cash, we had already. And here it is 4 days later and 3 of my nails have peeled off and I haven't done anything to cause this. Usually gel manicures last a good two weeks. Terrible experience. read more

Just had my first ever grooming at a nail salon and I now understand why my wife gets her nails done so often! We actually stopped in last week on our way to coffee just to check the place out, when the lovely owner of the salon graciously offered both my wife and I complimentary services (they were not yet officially open). My wife, not surprisingly, scheduled an appointment immediately. I hung back, trying to play it cool. As i stood there a bit awkwardly, one of the managers approached me and explained that they carried all these great men's products and that they are aiming to cater to both men and women in general. I still didn't schedule an appointment, but then a few days later we happened to run into the owner again while walking through downtown. She invited me again to come try her salon free of charge. This time I accepted. And I'm really glad I did. Not only did they do a great job with my fingers and toes, but I left feeling, well, pampered. I think the relaxing music and complimentary lattes might have helped with that. As did the friendly environment and the professional service. I have no doubt this place is going to be a huge success. I would recommend paying them a visit before the secret gets out!! read more

Is it possible to give zero stars? This place is awful! On the website it reminds you to be on time. My appointment was for 1:30 and they didn't get me in until 2:15. This was supposed to be a special day for my mom and me. The receptionist was VERY RUDE and did not seem to care about wasting our time. It was a real treat to sit back in the plush velvet chair, enjoy a tea and catch up the latest magazines that I don't seem to have time to read via the personal Ipad and admire the very stylish lounge. I'm so pleased to have a place in town that feels like family and a mini trip to the spa. Attention to detail! The owner, Katie and manager, Melissa make sure we have everything we need while the expert technicians attend to our mani / pedis. I'm especially thrilled that that Dolls & Dandy use organic polish, 5+ free colors. I usually get a gel mani and there I was a bit concerned there may not be very many options or that it wouldn't adhere properly. No need for concern! The colors are gorgeous and it just goes to show that Dolls & Dandy is committed to our health and their employees while creating a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. Normally I don't write reviews but my friend and I had such an appalling experience that I need to worn others. I have gone here before and had an amazing experience. The service was great and the atmosphere was great. Do not get me wrong, the salon is beautiful and luxurious but that is just a front for the awful service provided. Sorry for the long rant in advance. I was taken for my pedicure within 5 minutes of arriving for my appointment but it took them 30 minutes to sit my friend down for her manicure. The woman doing my pedicure had a very bad vibe. First, she didn't say one word the whole time and the only verbal interaction we had was me telling her that the force she was using on my toes hurt (which left swelling around me toes afterward.) Second, she continued to glance up at me in a disrespectful manner while I was talking on the phone with my friend. Third, I ruined the polish on my big toe while trying to put my shoe on. I asked the women who works in the front if someone could help me and she responded by saying everyone is busy and it would take a few minutes. After waiting 10 minutes I asked again and the women who originally painted my nails came. She rushed through fixing it and shook her head in disgust the whole time. I was left with red around my nails from the excess polish. While checking out the woman at the front desk was really impatient and honestly very rude. My friend was waiting to pay and the woman the woman asked her what she wanted and my friend responded that she wanted to pay. The woman then complained that she had to redo the whole payment since she charged both me and my friend's​ services together. She continued to explain to her how to give a tip and where to give though my friend never asked. After my friend put the tip the lady asked why she was standing there. My friend tipped 6 dollars after the women told her she had to tip six. The woman got post-its ready for us to put our tips in. I was planning to put the tip on my card and the lady rudely said I had to pay in cash for my tip. At that point, I was not planning on giving a tip but then the woman said that she would just put it on my card. I told her to put five then received a judgmental look. Overall it was a terrible experience. I would NOT recommend this to anyone who wants an incredible job done on their nails. It is overpriced and they barely did an average job. Next time I will go to my normal place that is $20 for a pedicure where the employees are social and patient. read more

Whether it is offering you hot or cold beverages, making sure you are comfortable, adding iPads with magazines downloaded for you to read while getting your nails done, or helping you pick out your nail color! My manicure was spot-on professional and I am very happy with it. My only problem is that what is usually a $35 gel manicure, it is $55 (without any discounts) at this salon. My 72 year old husband and my friend's 80 year old husband had their first pedicure here as we prepared for my son's wedding. Less then spectacular. I was so disappointed. Strip mall salons have given me much better care. The place is gloomy, not one person that works there smiled or had any warmth. The pedicures were short and incomplete and when I asked for warmer water (water was cold) got an eye roll. I also got a manicure that was done while I was getting a pedicure and it was what I expect when my 10 year old grand daughter does my nails... not a professional job. The woman across the room from us asked for a manager and wanted someone else to finish her pedicure as she was so unhappy with the person helping her. Not a good experience at all and recommend anyone looking for a good experience look elsewhere. read more

Thank goodness. As a beauty industry professional, I have found it hard to get a quality mani pedi in Marin. Yes, there are a few diamonds in the rough. But this place is AMAZING. They have a great selection of quality polish. Everyone was super professional and genuinely kind. I actually relaxed. I drank tea, read British Vogue on an IPad that was attached to my service station. Both my nail techs did a beautiful job and I am suuuuuuper picky. Very nice in every way, remarkable that this salon lacks that singular chemical odor. I walked in for a mani pedi on a Thursday at 1:20 and had no wait. My beautiful host showed me to a plush upholstered easy chair and offered me champagne. I took a glass of water and browsed a digital magazine as the technician carefully cleaned up my tender cuticles over a copper basin. An hour and twenty minutes flew by as the place got busier. However, you need to know that they charge $15 just to remove gel polish even if you are having gel polish put back on (at an additional $10 cost). RUDE, poor service and horrible work I scheduled an appointment for 6 ladies and they all came back mad with a half decent pedicures and stressed out . My whole plan was to give them a 2 hrs of relaxing and stress free environment and they were treated poorly. Everything that was explained to me by phone was the complete opposite once they were there, but the owner was clear on me apparently assumed that we did not speaking or understand english lol not to mention they took my credit card information twice and some how not been able to keep in on their system for their appointments. Be very careful and write the name of whom you speak with because they need proof or a name to have someone to blame for or like the owner said "we have people that speak Spanish here" :/ needless to say it's gonna take a lot more than today's visit to keep a membership here, so much potential in this place if it was manage by a better personal. read more
