There is a reason that Connie has so many faithful customers - almost a cult following. I love good manicures and pedicures and I've been to pretty much every nail salon between Mill Valley and San Rafael. Connie is the best of the best. Her manicures and pedicures are great. I was dismayed to read some of the negative reviews. It's 180 degrees from my own experience. The Connie I know is kind, funny, wise and extremely compassionate. She really cares about her clients. I've never looked forward to seeing my manicurist the way that I look forward to my appointments with Connie. And having met some of her other customers, I know I'm not the only one who feels that way about her. I know that Connie works alone there in the shop and that's left her vulnerable to some bad events. But, back to the manicures - Connie's attention to the smallest details leave my hands and feet looking perfect. She's a little rough - but I like that because my hands and feet feel meticulously clean and groomed afterward. And I don't know how she does it - whether it's technique or product or both - but her manicures last longer than anyone else's by far. Selfishly, I love that she sometimes has time for walk-ins. But she shouldn't - as good as she is, she should be booked solid all the time. read more

Kim does a very detailed professional manicure & pedicure. She is very sweet and reasonably priced. I like that her salon is simple, clean and quiet. I've grown to dislike the busy noisy scene nail salons can be. I'm not interested in a scene. I'm pleased to have a high quality service with competence and kindness. Kim is a single Mom with Tam High & Edna Maguire student. She lives locally here in MV., and works hard to make a living here in MV. She took the nail salon over about 1.5-2 years ago. She's a gem, very good English and eye contact too. Don't hesitate to use her, you will be pleased. She has massage chairs & wraps each bowl fresh for new customers. Great (pain free) cuticle clean up & paint job. All new polished and they have a great selection of Zoya colors that is formaldehyde free (yay). Space is clean, professional and clutter free. Well, I have to say I'm disappointed. This place got a new owner 7 months ago and it has gone downhill. It was always my go-to place when I lived in Mill Valley so I went back to see them since my new regular spot couldn't take me. The new people were not friendly. I had a mani-pedi. The woman did my hands and the man did my feet. The manicure was fine though she was gruff. The pedicure was not good. No only did it take a long time, but it was BAD. Polish on the skin eventhough he started over on a nail. Messy. Filing bad. Really not good. And I felt like I was in their way being there. The man and woman were speaking to each other in what I assume was their native language and seemed to be arguing. Unpleasant. Will not return. The only reason I went was because my normal place in Larkspur, Polish, could not take me. Next time I will wait. read more

Went here on a Sunday because there doesn't appear to be many nail salons open in the Larkspur area. I was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly, welcoming, and accommodated me almost immediately as a walk-in for a pedicure. The pedicure was $22 w/out tip, a few dollars more than I usually pay...but that being said, it was very relaxing, nice massage, and she didn't hurt my feet like some manicurists have! Would give them 5 stars, but the decor and ambiance of the salon was a little lacking...but I will be returning again on a Sunday! read more

Came in to get my legs and armpits waxed and left 40 dollars poorer and still had clumps of hair. I have gotten waxed before but have never experienced the level of pain. I would be ok with the amount of pain if i all the hair was gone but half of my leg still has hair on it. I did not seem like she knew what she was doing and I wouldnt recommend going. read more

Quick and thorough. She does a great job in a very short amount of time. She works alone and does her best to accommodate all clients but it's best to call ahead. If you are looking for a long massage this is not the spot but she does include a scrub and hot stones at no additional cost. read more

Connie, the sole proprietary of Valley Nails, is a community gem! Her nail work is careful, beautiful and long-lasting, and she now does waxing and brow work, although I've never tried it. Her prices are crazy low ($30 for mani/pedi), and I feel her equipment and shop are clean. She's even started using organic coconut oil for the hand and foot massages! I highly recommend calling for an appointment (same day is usually fine) since she works alone. The only reason for 4 stars is that it's hard to go with a daughter or girlfriend: I wish we could clone Connie! read more

This is my favorite nail salon in Marin! It's reasonably priced and the PEDICURES LAST me 3 weeks. Prices are $22 pedicure, $12 manicure, or $32 mani/pedi. I haven't tried anything aside from the basics. It's a small place and not as spruced up as other salons in Marin but they recently upgraded to nice massage chairs. I've been going here for over 3 years now and see no reason to change. I'm shocked more people haven't reviewed this place on Yelp. read more

I have been going to Valley Nails and today Connie's behavior was extremely rude. Took my kids in to get their nails painted and they were well behaved but Connie told me to tell them to behave. I am the first one to tell my kids that they need to behave if they are misbehaved. But what was the worst is that my friend and I carried my girls to the car as their nails were still wet. We left their cute rain boots in her salon as we couldn't carry everything in one go. We got the girls settled in the car and while my friend watched them I ran back in to get their boots. Connie had thrown their boots in front of the door on the sidewalk and slammed her door shut. For 5 mins of work painting their nails earning the rate of $120/HR plus tip I am not sure what she was so pissed off about. I sure as hell am never going back there. She lost a regular customer for life - 3 if you count my girls. read more

This review pertains to one service only. Brow tint. I have no idea how the rest of their services are - but don't go here for brow tint. Worst experience I've ever had, and I've had brows tinted for decades. When I got home, I had to pencil in spaces they missed. They didn't know how to mix the color, they asked me how long to leave it on, they dropped color onto my shirt, leaned on me (physically) during the process. No concept of personal space. They charged me full price, didn't indicate that they were inexperienced, and didn't apologize for the dye on my shirt. Overall, such a bad experience that I'll never go back to this salon to try anything else. read more

I have been going here off and on for about 10 years. Very nice family-run salon. I agree the decor is lacking but they do good work. I notice the hygienics have improved; plastic gloves, plastic liner for foot baths, etc. They did upgrade to nice massage chairs a few years back. Very nice! read more

I would prefer to give NO STARS. I actually used to recommend this place to my friends, but no longer. My friend gave me a gift certificate to get a mani/pedi, but unfortunately my dog ate the gift certificate. I know likely, story, but it's true. I called as soon as it happened to explain the situation and on the phone they understood. I had my friend send me the transaction on their credit card, so I would at least have proof that the gift was paid for. After the initial call, I called the day before to confirm and again told them I did not have the gift certificate, but had proof of payment. They said it was not a problem. When I finally got there, half way through my pedicure I was asked for the the gift certificate. Again, I explained my situation, but this time they seemed to forget and not understand. I kept trying to explain, but they wouldn't have it. Instead I was called a liar and told that if I didn't pay they would call the police on me. I was mortified, embarrassed in front of the other customers, and forced to pay $30 for half a pedicure. This is the WORST costumer service I have ever experienced. I DO NOT RECOMMEND coming to this establishment. I will NEVER come again and will advise EVERYONE I know to never step foot in here. read more
