They're extremely impersonal and totally unaccommodating. I've been there 3 times, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I'm not going back. One time I was there in winter and it was cold and windy out. They opened the door and I was freezing! I asked them if they could close and they did not! Completely ignoring my request! I was the only customer there! Last time I got somebody who gave me a "1" minute massage, and it might as well could have been a robot. Like there was nobody home. It was weird to say the least. Aaliyah just colored and cut my hair today. A previous technician had used the wrong color and the keratin treatment did not work so I was pretty disappointed. I had purchased a gift certificate at Trio Salon several years ago. In california - gift certificates paid with cash never expire. It is the law. The law is clear. I showed up to use the gift certificate and they would not honor it. Initially said it was too old. I whipped out my phone and googled the law for them. They then said, oh, this is with the previous owner. I told them that was irrelevant since they bought the business assuming all liabilities. They then refused to honor the full amount of the certificate. It was dishonest. read more

My nails aren't even glued down properly and water can get under them. Not to mention non of them look the same. Just had the best outside Mani Pedi at my favorite salon. So happy they are back open and taking the most amazing safety precautions. Definitely the safest place to go if you are looking for a quick nail touch up. Everything is super clean and since they are outside it's very open and airy everyone has gloves masks face shields perfect safety measures. Can't wait to go back. Also they take temp checks and make you sign a Covid tracking waiver that keeps track of the amount of times that you've gone and your temperature every time you've been it's also so they can contact trace if anything does happen. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Ive been coming here for years even before the new owners Minh & Jenny took over! Its a great location with friendly staff. They work really hard and try to accommodate everyone! This is a place where walk in's are welcome, however sometimes its annoying because they are overwhelmed and people from Marin always come in demanding to be seen right away... even though they have people who have had appointments. Please be respectful of this salon and make an appointment and come on time not 30-40 minutes early to be seen! They are amazing at their jobs, thorough and very sweet! I have been going to this salon for as long as I've lived in Mill Valley. The salon is back open and taking appointments. I've been coming in since they re-opened in late January. They are taking safety precautions and have installed dividers that hang from the ceiling down in between chairs; masks worn; temperature check upon entry; and, antibacterial for the hands. I recently went here for the first time. The staff was very friendly, did a great job, & their pricing is really reasonable. I got a basic pedicure & it still hasn't chipped a month later! My 5 year old niece was with us & was very nervous, but the staff was very kind & comforting & made her feel at ease. She ended up loving it & her polkadot nails! I will definitely go back...probably in the next few days since it's time to switch up the color. read more

Based on a recommendation from the southern Marin mothers club (a community counts partner with this business) I came for a pedicure. It was perfect. While my car got new tires at Malugani tire center, I popped over to Trio for a pedi while I waited. Very reasonable price for a great service! Very clean salon too. I had to update my review with another 5 stars, because I couldn't believe how long the pedicure lasted. I actually called the tire shop to find out the date I was there. My pedi lasted a good 7-8 weeks straight with nary a chip! I'm sure this new pedicure will last just as long. Jenny did it and she was so careful and attentive. Quality massage chairs as well. After getting acrylics put on by them in a previous appointment I came to get them off. After soaking my nails, nail technician began filing off my nails, cutting the skin below my nails. After this many of my fingers were bleeding. She then began ripping it off, mostly unsuccessfully. My nails still have pieces left over, stuck on and I am unable to get them off. Also due to the ripping most of the nails that grew out are now cut from the nail lady. Not coming back. read more

OK, so I came here for a Shellac manicure. At first, I thought it was great--they removed my old Shellac the proper way (with acetone-soaked cotton balls affixed to your nails with tinfoil, rather than making you soak your fingers in it). But, upon closer inspection, the edges were wobbly. I would have forgiven that, but less than a week after I had it done, the manicure was already chipped-up at the tips, and I had to file down my nails to make it less obvious. That sucks because my entire reason for getting Shellac is because it is supposed to last at least two weeks. The other place I've had Shellac done (twice), it really did last at least two weeks without chipping. Too bad. I'm back on the hunt for a Shellac salon in Marin that does it as well as Zaza in the city. If you do come here, know that it is really only a nail salon, despite what the website might suggest (there is only one hair-dressing station, and in the two times I went in, no one was getting anything done besides nails). Also, bring cash for tips, because they don't do credit-card tips. read more

I want to start by saying I have never given a place one star, and I really had to think about it before posting. Let me start with the positive: The pedicure was fine, and the salon is clean. I went for an acrylic manicure and a gel pedicure. It seemed like the longer I was there the more of a pain this was going to be so I opted for a regular pedi, which was fine. Then I got my acrylics done by a woman with a ponytail and glasses, I forgot her name. She filed my nails down so far there is a dent in the surface of the nail now. I wanted a neutral color, and one nail covered with rhinestones but she refused to do this and stuck them on in a random pattern. My friend said it looked like a child did it. She then charged FIFTEEN DOLLARS which is insane, usually I've been charged $3-5 per nail for much more complex designs. I then asked if she was going to put a top coat over the nails with rhinestones and she said no, so I asked her if she could to which she also said no. I get my nails done very frequently and this is common practice but I didn't want to be rude so I let her go on. Then it got weird. I forgot my wallet at home and my roommate offered to bring it to me. I work next door and said "I will leave my backpack and my house keys here and I have to go to work, I'll be back at 4:30". I understand wanting to be immediately paid for services rendered, but mill valley is a small town and they can see my office from their front door. They made a huge scene about it, yelling back and forth at each other in the salon, and then told me they wanted to keep my cell phone, which I found crazy (it's worth 8x the service!) and also needed for work. So eventually I just left. In the TWO HOURS I was gone my GEL ACRYLIC chipped. I came back and paid them and one of the women offered to fix it so I said I would come back the next day. By the next day 4 rhinestones had fallen off so they had to replace those too, and all they did was file down the chipped nail instead of repainting it so now my nails were uneven! I was hoping now they'd be fine but the rhinestones fell off again in a few days. Because she had filed my nails so thin and done the powder thin they all began to break below the nail and it's very painful. I had high hopes for this salon. If you're going for just a pedicure you are likely safe but don't go here for acrylics. read more

The pedi I received was ok. The Essie nail polish was old and thick. Rather than tell me it was no good and suggest a different color, the technician painted my toes anyhow. When I opened my eyes to see the final product, I was annoyed and displeased. it looked streaky and caked. It looked really amateur. Also the polish wasn't cleared up around the cuticles. They looked sloppy and like a child had done them, but I had to be somewhere else to be and didn't have time to debate it. I told two ladies my daughter was only having her toes painted. They asked a third lady to take care of her polish. She started with a mani before consulting me. I reminded them politely that I only authorized a pedi for her. They didn't offer to comp the service or anything. My daughter is too young to be responsible for this. It was pretty unprofessional and dishonest on the owner and technicians part. I wouldn't return. Sloppy work and scamming my child are pretty inexcusable. read more

I had two Groupons for mani-pedi, and they refused to honor them, claiming that they were new owners of the business and that the prior owner had taken all of the Groupon credits with her. I pointed out that Groupon keeps the money until the establishment claims the voucher, but that did not help. This conversation was ugly and was conducted in front of the rest of the clients. I went here a few months ago and am still a bit haunted by the experience. Wanting just a shampoo and cut, I thought it'd be a quick in and out. Instead, I got an hour and a half long haircut, where the owner (!!!) walked away from me several times to talk to other customers, answer the phone, etc. (Ever hear of hiring a receptionist?) Furthermore, she didn't give me at all what I asked for, leaving me with a pretty crappy "mom" haircut. I guess if you went here to get your nails done, you might have a better experience. I was so disappointed with this salon. I came in on time for an appointment and was leaving after to get to my aunts memorial in SF. The "hot stone massage" was AWFUL. She put zero effort into massage with or without the hot stones. When I arrived they were rude and not at all kind. They didn't even tell me to have a seat, nothing. Then another woman came in and they treated her much nicer, and started her before me when I was clearly there first, and our appointments were for the same time. The pedicure was just mediocre.
