I have been to this salon many times. Up until recently I had a good experience. I had a wax procedure a few days ago and the tech ripped my skin off. I experienced( still am) a lot of discomfort. After she was done she mentioned the area seemed irritated. If it seemed irratated why did she mention it afterwards instead of before and tell me to come back another time ? Yup, I'm still giving Doll Wax Salon 5 stars. I feel it's only right to give a new review because: 1. The Gambrills location has moved to Odenton and 2. We're currently in the midst of a pandemic so of course some things have changed, at least for now. I love the new location. They are located in the Town Center in Odenton right near the Marc train station. The new space is much bigger than the previous one with more waxing rooms. COVID procedures: You must wear a mask while inside the building. When you go inside, you fill out a waiver form and they take your temperature. If they are still busy with another client, they may ask you to stand outside or wait in your car until they are ready for you. They only let the client in who is being serviced so don't bring any friends or kids to tag along. I believe they usually ask you not to bring kids anyway prior to COVID. They may not perform certain services on your face that would require the removal of your mask. Same great service with friendly people. Personally, I have my favorites. I see Kim for Brazilians and Karyn for eyebrows. Long story short, once I find someone I like or feel comfortable with, I stick with them. read more

I was a little skeptical when I saw that they use soft wax with strips?? But upon entering this place a quickly want me over move over European wax!! This just might be my new place to go get my wax done if I'm able to see Miss Kim!! My daughter and I were in desperate need of an under on wax and I usually go with a full Brazilian. However I am new to the area and had to go somewhere quick and thanks to the great yelp I found this place!! I have been getting a Brazilian for approximately seven years and today it was probably one of the best services I have ever had hands-down I'm not sure what kind of wax it is but the wax leaves your skin looking and feeling absolutely beautiful I just wish I had some more stuff to exfoliate with oh well I will purchase some later in the week. I was tired of EWCs practices and I'm glad I took a chance and tried this place out. I worked with Kerri. I'm not sure if this makes sense, but this was the most comfortable wax I've ever had. She was gentle, but still quick and effective. The reviews here are true. The facility is very nice and clean. It doesn't feel as "cold" as some franchise wax salons I've been to in the past. I've been coming to Doll Wax Salon for almost two years now, I still make the trip to Odenton from DC because I only trust this place. Jenna is my aesthetician and she is THE BEST! She makes you feel comfortable and takes her time. But everyone's great here, even the receptionists. They're always so helpful and I've never had an issue with rescheduling or making appointments. I'm in love with Jenna!!!! I've been coming here for about two years now and I tell all my friends how much I love doll wax salon. I live in Bowie and drive past closer locations just to come to Gambrills for her. I was afraid to get a Brazilian, but had bikini waxes in the past. Jenna talked me through everything, showed and told me what she was doing, and was so friendly that it made the experience bearable. I found this wax salon one night via Yelp and was pleased to get a last min appointment via the online booking tool, scheduled for the next afternoon. The next day I was running behind and appreciated the phone call at my appointment time to confirm my ETA. I found from this experience that you do not want to be late AT ALL because it was insinuated that if I had not made it by the time I disclosed, my appointment would be cancelled. I made it by then and was pleased to find a beautifully decorated salon/ boutique, that appeared upscale & clean. The staff wore masks and gave me a pleasant greeting. I signed the required documents & was ushered into a room. The room was clean & comfortable. I was instructed to undress from the waste down & was offered wipes to freshen up and a sheet to cover with, (like the one given for a Pap smear). I was told to ring the cute hand bell on the table when ready. Kimberly was the wax tech and she was very accommodating. She gave very precise instructions & kept the conversation going during my service, which distracted me & made the waxing experience a lot less painful. I was pleased with the results. My appointment was supposed to also include a mask but I was told because I was late I could not receive that service also. Even though I did not get all that I requested, I enjoyed my experience & plan to return in the near future, ON TIME, so that I can receive a full service & take advantage of the discounted waxing when you return within 5 weeks. read more

Usually I only update my reviews when my star rating changes but I wish I could give this place 10 stars!! I've been going for some time now and each visit gets better than the last! They always have great specials so it doesn't break the bank to stay maintained and the staff is amazing!! They are super personable and sweet which is important when your having such an intimate service done. So far I've had services done by Jenna, Jennifer and Karyn and I love all three!! Their approach at waxing makes it a LOT less painful of an experience than I expected it to be! I always feel like I'm catching up with an old friend when I got in and am chatting with the ladies while getting things waxed. I've moved further away from the salon but will still travel back over to see them, it's so worth the drive! The salon itself is so adorable! Look who got to 400 reviews...woohoo! Okay, after seeing awesome reviews about this place, I decided I HAD to try it out. Appointments can be made in person, via telephone or schedule city online. Doll Wax is located in Gambrils, a bit off of Rte. 32, near the Post Office, it is in a small strip area, look for the pink sign hanging near the road. The entrance is kind of tricky, just enter the large wooden double like doors and the Salon is on the right. Once inside, it is quite comforting; from the couches, to the relaxing colors. The receptionist makes an attempt to know who you are, totally dig the personal touch. Refreshments are offered, and education is provided regarding any medications that may effect your experience. Waxing rooms are relaxing, with cute sheets, funny pictures, and CHOCOLATE. I mean what girl doesn't love chocolate. The salon generally uses soft wax for all procedures, but will use hard wax upon request and for clean up. Cue possible TMI in 3...2...1... Now this wasn't my first trip to the Brazilian motherland, but what I have discovered in this trip was that it was quite thorough. More so than other higher end locations that I have patronized. Kerri was awesome, applying soothing oils before waxing new areas, and explaining things as she progressed. I believe it was more pulls than I have experiences previously, but it was well worth it at the end. TMI...al fin Doll wax is pretty dope in the fact that they have pretty awesome specials, from Brazilian happy hours, to discounted rates if you come within a specific time frame, oh and a loyalty card!! It's like a girls best kept secret. My service provider was Lizzy! I loved her aura, she's calm collective and very knowledgable. She made me feel extremely comfortable as she started to explain more about hair cycles and exfoliation. I had a Brazilian. Painful of course but it makes you feel cleaner! They even have socks for $3.00 if you get cold! The nice and fuzzy warm ones. I set up my 5 week appointment for sure! I loved the conversation and the funny pictures in the bathroom! Had a wonderful experience here yesterday! I had a bad experience a few years back with REALLY overheated wax so I tread very lightly into the waxing pool. We are getting engagement pictures taken in the next week and I needed someone to clean up my brows quickly- this week of pampering pre-engagement picture shoot is flying by! I booked an appointment online which was super simple. I did accidentally chose Crofton instead of Gambrills, but when I got to the Gambrills salon they so graciously accommodated me. The salon was cute and clean and everyone there was so friendly! Karyn took me back and worked her magic on my eyebrows. She was so kind and they really place a lot of emphasis on pre and post-wax care. I love that they stress this so your experience is the best. Check on Groupon for specials on waxing & the reviews on Yelp are reliable. The shop is very clean, well lit & the receptionist was professional and courteous enough to offer me water and snacks. If you want to give them your email address you can schedule your appointments and be reminded. Today I had my brows waxed, but will return for Brazilian waxing. My services were performed by Jenna. She was quick and painless & pleasant to talk to. The shop has items for sale for post wax maintenance and offer discounts if you buy brow items the day of your brow waxing. I got a brow wax with Jenna at the Odenton location and I love it! Jenna will be the person I'll be scheduling all my brow appointments with. I have crazy brows and it was really grown out but she made them look amazing and kept it thick but still neat which is how I like them. She also kept it long at the ends and didn't take too much off in the center which is also how I like them. They have a frequent visitors card so you get money off of a service after a certain number of visits. They have specials too at times, so you can get savings based on the specials they are having. The girls are all really nice and polite. No problems here. Like any other place you get beauty needs taken care of stick to the person(s) you like or jump around if you want. They have many technicians working for them. I like that I generally dont have problems booking an appt. when I need it. They have 3 locations so lots of staffing.
