Once you get out there are not many places to stop for fuel, snacks or to use the restroom. Stephen's Grocery and Hardware has a large selection of things from your basic C-Store items to some things for camping or minor household repair. The day we stopped there were numerous other customers in line making small purchases. NOTE: The restroom inside the store is locked and there is a sign saying for customer use only, so you have to make a purchase to get the key. I guess this is to stop the random tourist from coming in for a bathroom break. The restroom was clean and neat and worked on our stop. The prices of the C-Store items are much higher than what you will find in larger chain C-Stores but they probably pay a lot more buying in smaller quantity and there is not any competitor in the area.

There's a grocery section with way more than your typical convenience store. (Be sure to try the bologna and cheese. I don't remember the story but I know it's local and it's awesome.) There's a hardware section that will allow you to fix just about any basic emergency. There's a feed-store section too - if you have dogs, cats, horses, goats, chickens (and we do! All of the above!), they've got you covered. There's also a gas station. Out front is all the normal stuff, with automatic pumps. Off to the side, you can get diesel and 100% gasoline (no ethanol or other additives). No credit card reader there, so you have to go inside, but nice to have. We're putting 100% in our two supercharged vehicles right now and my husband is sure it makes a difference. ;-)

From clothing to furniture to video games to housewares... there are avenues of store shanties inside a very large building ( maybe 2 football fields placed end to end ). There are a couple food venders selling carnival fare inside and outside as well as a couple of buildings outside selling antiques and estate sale leftovers. It is as much fun for people watching as it is for bargain hunting. Having experienced it now, I wouldn't drive from anywhere particularly to shop here but, if passing through it is a great place to stretch your legs.

I've been noticing this store for a few weeks now as we drive by it and have been wanting to stop. Since Angie's on South Lee closed down, we've been looking for a nice place to fill its spot. This place is more like the old Cherokee Liquidators that use to be on Spring Place Rd when I was a kid. Lots of little gadgets, camping gear, BB guns, cell phone stuff and used shoes. Their prices are fare and we even got some better deals at the register. The staff was friendly and had a smile. Even the other customers were friendly during this visit. I'm not sure this will be a weekly shopping place, but I will definitely be back to check out future deals.

Because I live a half an hour away, I especially love that bagging groceries is separated into blue bags for cold items and brown bags for everything else. That being said, there is one cashier who I avoid like the plague. Her name is Chasady. Today, her lane was the only one open other than self check out. Every time I go in there, she never says one word to me except to say thank you as she hands me my receipt. Today was no different in that respect. Normally, she refuses to use the blue bags, so everything is in a brown bag and I have to search through what I have to know what to put in my cooler bags and what needs to immediately go into the refrigerator or freezer when I get home. Today, I put my cold items on the belt first and if she did not put them in blue bags, I was going to politely ask her to do so. To my surprise, she put them in blue bags! I was ecstatic! Until, she started putting everything in blue bags! She apparently does not understand the concept. I don't normally complain, but this has just been an ongoing issue for the past several months! She is never friendly and does not know how to bag groceries and then, it is the customer's job apparently to put them from the loading area into the cart, no matter how many she has stacked onto the loading area.
