Very good grocery store. We've recently shook up our grocery practices, having been in a sort of…read moreKrogers trance for a decade or so, going out of habit to the one near us since it was new. But it's been in steep decline and with the arrival of HEB to the area, we woke up and are examining the grocery landscape we've been blind to. We since have been coming here and we are very pleased! For starters, this place looks immaculate, totally spotless, so orderly and neat it's amazing. We even said "this place is roughy the same age as the Kroger up the road and this proves Kroger has no excuse to look so dilapidated, when THIS is possible in roughly the same area". It's so orderly, I couldn't help but even straighten up the voids I made in the products as we shopped like I worked there! Haa! I just respected it, you know? Anyway, the prices are on average a bit lower too, some by a lot! I believe the reason is they don't dabble in the annoying point system or the apps to try to hook shoppers into a "marriage" of sorts the way everyone does these days. To not even try to game shopper's behavior or try to track them at all they don't have to invest in it, so everything is straightforward and they have a lower overhead. I LOVE it. I'm done with having Kroger hook me into buying gas from them in a loop of trying to get the most out of points nonsense. Winco is the simple old way and I've missed it (and a little annoyed at myself for missing out all these years, but no more)! The checkout is great, staffed far more "human" than Krogers, and even have the choice in paper/plastic to optimize your sacking. The employees straight-up seem frankly happier to be there, and authentically, not robotically acting out a script. A nice bunch. They surely must be to actually try as hard as they do and it shows by just looking around. I could go on and on, we were very analytical about our "change-over" and we doubtless will be checking out HEB when they finally open, but regardless how good they are too, Winco has TOTALLY won us over and we will be coming back here regularly for good! Thanks, Winco!

Since I've been bedridden for a couple of months, I've had to rely on delivery services to obtain groceries, and it's very hit or miss with some companies. It also friends on your shopper. I've had a person who didn't believe in plastic bags and delivered all of my groceries as is, including fresh fruit/veggies; just right on my doorstep. True story y'all... Anywhoooo, Kroger has been a lifesaver!! Their weekly ad specials are great, too great where they might be sold out at times, which can be a bit frustrating, but ever since H‑E‑B opened next door, they don't seem to have that problem anymore. They have their OWN trained delivery staff and do not have to rely on any third parties as in Instacart or DoorDash where you have no idea who you hired to deliver your products. Their delivery fee is $9.95 or $6.95 if you do a day in advance, OR you can do their BOOST membership for $59 or $99 a year for free delivery and other specials. That all includes tip, they actually pay their drivers so there is no tip option. The food is always delivered on time, rare I have any complaints with the produce or meat that is picked, and they are all around the best!! Also, there is always a "flash sale" on certain items that will pop up before you finish paying. It's my favorite thing!! Great deals on steaks or fancy bakery desserts or bread. Check them out y'all, and make sure you sign up for their Kroger card!!

This Buc-ee's is insanely large and I know it's not the largest in the chain. They have everything you could ever want and more from freshly made food, preserved foods, souvenirs, kitschy things you'd find at a cracker barrel or gift shop, and then what you'd expect from a gas station. Apparently, I fudged by getting the sausage on a stick wrapped in a tortilla. The go-to move is supposed to be to get anything brisket. Rookie mistake on my behalf. I did manage to snag a caramel fudge that I did not regret however! The sausage was rubber and beyond dry. I felt like I was chewing an old balloon and the BBQ sauce didn't help. *This was my fault for not knowing better since they sit out. The bathrooms are super clean. The doors are sealed on the sides with privacy! If you need an OTC medication chances are they have it and it's really affordable compared to CVS or something.

I've been to other Buc-ee's before, this one doesn't seem that big but still has everything you want and crave for! The jerky station lets you sample the jerky prior to buying them. My family was so happy that they got to try everything and they eventually bought 7 different flavors! The lemon pepper and Steakhouse was my favorite flavor of the day! You can never go wrong with their brisket sandwiches and the freshly made chips! They also freshly slice the brisket if you order at least one pound of meat. One challenge we faced was that they overcharged us for additional pound of meat. At first, we were super frustrated because we could not call them to resolve the issue. Also, we were far away from Buc-ee's by then and there is no way we could prove that we did not ate those item. Eventually, we send Buc-ee's an email and they were able to check through video footage that they indeed overcharged us. They did this in less than a day and they were super professional about this matter. It turned from a situation full of frustration to relief. I will definitely bring my other friends and family over again in the future!

So, they lost one star for that. They lost another star due to most of the human run checkout lines have now become automated, so prices have tripled over the last 4 years, but now you get less service and have to check yourself out?!? (not helpful when you have a large cart full of groceries.). Anyway, one more star lost due to many common items are not available or they don't carry and they keep moving sections around and it takes longer to find what you need. Sign of the times? Walmart corporate decisions or management / personnel issues? Perhaps a bit of all mixed in. I am hoping they can improve.
