What more could you ask for in the heart of an up-and-coming neighborhood like Brooklyn? I live just behind The Brooklyn Station and I find myself here nearly every day. Regency centers owns this shopping plaza and they do a nice job of keeping it maintained and up to date. They are currently paining and doing some stucco work to keep things nice and fresh. There is plenty of parking and although it gets very busy at lunchtime it's pretty easy to maneuver your way through it (just watch for pedestrians!) Rumor has it the JTA Skyway is working on plans to expand its way into the Brooklyn area (first expansion in 25+ years) and I believe this will do wonders for these local businesses when they finally are connected to Downtown & Lavilla.

I found my way here out of curiousity to explore the various liquidation centers in Jax. I feel sad for lower income shoppers who either don't know better or have no means of getting around to other stores, but this place is not only full of dangerously expired goods (which ought to be given to a food pantry for IMMEDIATE USE, or thrown out), they are overpriced at that. Coincidentally, I saw inventory there that I'd shopped at other stores. Some Cat&Jack (Target brand) pjs were $6.99 but they had been on clearance direct from Target a month before for $5!!!! Also, plush Rudolph reindeer priced at $7.99 had also been $5 on clearance at BJs! These are not deals, folks! I bought absolutely NOTHING and that is hard for me to do at a discount store. I can always turn trash to treasure and fix up or repurpose anything to help myself or my charity efforts, and I felt dirty to touch things in this store. And it's always evolving and flipping. If you haven't gone in awhile I highly recommend it. Especially if you like cooking for family/friends. The wide variety of beef,pork, seafood and desserts will keep you coming back! Some may say Sheps is messy, unorganized and even cluttered. That's ok with me because those employees work there ass off for Sheps. It's a very high demand store with so much things needed to be done every day to keep it running right. All in all most items are in good condition but you do need with most items from thrift need to look closely as there can be unseen snags or stains that you need special reading glasses to see the problems. I grabbed it and saw that it was heavily infested with bedbugs, and I took it to the clerk at the front, who then took it to the back, and stated that they discarded it. I told him that one bug was capable of ruining the whole store. Two weeks forward I returned, and today a comforter that looked exactly like the one that was thrown away. Was now hanging up without the plastic. Same color, same pattern. So examine it closely before you purchase it.
