We arrived in Indianapolis after midnight due to flight delays. Went to the counter and no one was there. A sign said go to the Hertz Gold area in the garage. Again, no one was there. I had prepaid for the car and no one was there to let me take the vehicle. Ended up renting from Payless for $100 more. Rental agency won't refund what I pre paid. I can't understand why a car rental agency at a major airport isn't open past midnight, especially when I prepaid for the car. read more

I'll leave 2 stars because I at least procured my vehicle. My day started with a delay and when I contacted the rental company to update them, no one answered the phone. I called throughout the day, multiple airports, even my airline tried calling to ensure I would arrive in time. I called the support number and they advised me to contact the location directly, even gave me the number... But no response. Fast forward, I FLEW from my gate to the rental counter to make sure I got there before they closed. I was chastised for not updating "my reservation" even though they had my flight number (which didn't change, just the time). The girl at the counter spent more time talking with associates about flights still arriving, even though they weren't notified. Mind you, I was NOT the only person at the counter getting a vehicle; more were coming down the escalator. NO ONE was helpful to ensure I received the vehicle I had secured and had I not run from my gate, who knows what would have happened. Sidenote - they were all quick to inform me they DO NOT have phones at the counter even though they are online and listed through the airport with a direct contact number. NOT helpful for airlines, customers, or prospective customers. Won't be renting again anytime soon read more

This Dollar rental is in the Indy airport. We got sent to Indy by American Airlines instead of Dayton and rented a car from Dollar to get home because it looked like our cheapest option. Service was quick, friendly and helpful. The rental car ran fine and it took 3.4 gallons of gas from IND to DAY. I'd recommend Dollar. read more

Renter a "premium" class car here. Received a base model Chevy trax that was 5 years old. Half the radio buttons don't work. No cruise control, power seats or anything. I'm also not real sure how safe it is. It's pulling to the side a bit and shakes whenever I stop. Something is broken or out of balance. They should never have attempted to give this out as a premium car. An economy car maybe but even that's a stretch. Now I'm told they are sold out can can't swap it with anything. Very unhappy, do not recommend especially when there are several other companies at the airport with better cars within a few bucks of these prices. read more

I took my family on vacation for the week on June 29th thru July 8th. I rented a car from Dollar Rentals on April 5th for the upcoming trip and paid for everything on that day. When my trip came up and I landed in Fort Lauderdale on June 29th my car was scheduled to be ready by 2:30PM. I checked in online to skip the line at the front desk. I waited for 2hours after my flight and had to go through the line to talk to the people at the service desk that were rude and did not help one bit. Had to wait another 45min to get a vehicle. Then they charged me another $1200 for the same rental. I have been trying to contact them but they make it so you cannot speak with anyone on the phone. I have tried emailing as well with no responses. This is by far the absolute worst service I have received from any car rental agency. I will NEVER use Dollar/Thrifty/Hertz again!!!!!!!!! read more

This Dollar Rent a Car is running a legit scam. They also do business under the name Hertz, but it is the same outfit. I filled the vehicle up before dropping it off, and was still charged for fuel on the final invoice. There is no way to dispute the charge without a receipt for the fuel. It did not cross my mind to get a receipt since I didn't imagine the rental company would scam me for gas money. Crass operation. Will report to the better business bureau. read more

Dollar must underbid all other rental car places because I didn't have a choice except to use them on a recent work trip since they came up $5 under other companies. They group with Thrify and Hertz and the lines are always long. Meanwhile other companies are moving quickly. I had a free upgrade and they were out of cars. Then when I dropped the car off for return on FULL, they charged me an extra $20 for fuel when it was already on full. We were able to pick the car up on time. Every return the car on time. Five people were standing there and I said I'm turning the car back in and not one of them would check the car in or inspect the vehicle and they said just leave it there. So I did. They told me a receipt would be emailed to me. They didn't tell me it may take up to seven days. I don't work like this. When I buy some thing and pay for it I want my receipt not seven days later. So it makes you a little anxious not knowing what they're doing and what they're charging you for. read more

On my recent trip to Indy, had to book a last minute rental. Dollar was the way to go. Easy online booking. My flight got in a bit later in the evening, but it helped not to have a line. Other than the nice lady in front of me (that apparently had not rented a car in her life) I was in the vehicle and on my way in no time. Vehicle return was easy - watch out tho since the new Indy airport doesn't really have a close gas station. May be easier to do a pre-pay tank until they build more stuff around the new exit/terminal. read more

The absolute worst experience. I am currently in line behind 3 people.. ive been in line for well over 40 minutes. my flight from boston landed at 11:06.. its 12:49. I just waved at the camera. The employees are so slow they're moving backwards. Entertaining the customers, laughing. One is on her cell phone. Family members of the people AT THE DESK are coming up to see whats taking so long. One of them had ran outside while we were all in line. This is inexcusable. I would NEVER had booked my rental here if I had known it was going to be long. They harassed and called me during the car rental time periord at least 3 to 4 times DEMANDING that the car be returned when I had requested a two week rental time or more. They gave me a car with EXPIRED TAGS! BEWARE, they should have all VEHICLES INSPECTED with valid registration according to Indianoplis State Laws. Very unprofessional. First of all 2 hour wait after arrived from flight. Cussing while speaking to customers. Charge my card twice for one rental. Never took time to explain contract. Never shown where rental was to pick up. Garage area dirty with trash everywhere. Car not cleaned properly. As well as very expensive. I personally flew in only to bury my child. Due to your Rep this rental process added stress to incite another melt down in front of probably 80 more of your customers. Retuned car on time and with a full tank of gas. Nothing was said at the return. Agent said was good to go. Retuned home to find an email bill charging $94 in fuel charges. I had a wonderful experience at the customer service both picking up the vehicle and dropping it off. My disappointment is how Dollar handled my dispute with the bill. I phoned the number on my receipt on two different occasions and talked with an individual who stated a supervisor would be contacting me both times. I never received a phone call. I also went to the website and requested a supervisor contact me via email and that also didn't happen. It would have been nice to have someone contact me to discuss the my dispute. BECAREFUL ! I rented a car 05/27 - 05/29/2019 that is 2 days. The total for the 2 days was $330.98, I may get $95.97 back , that remains to be seen. The price is not the reason I am writing this review (which was supposed to be $38.10 per day). The reason for this review is the fact when I took the car back there was no one there to check the car in, I had an early morning flight to catch. The car was great, the PU & DO services were good, but the desk clerk in Phoenix AND their Customer Service response is crap. 1st, I'm not one that usually travels on my own, my wife takes care of me esp. these last couple years. She made arrangements for me to visit with son & his family, who had moved to AZ, this Christmas. When I arrived in Phoenix, Dollar Rental, they had line of several people & only 2 clerks, who were rushing through paperwork, etc. I thought that I'd chosen to waive insurance and the clerk was pushing paperwork around, gave me papers to sign, and I thought all was fine until I got to son's home the next late afternoon. He, grandsons & I had camped out in the Desert west of Phoenix the 1st evening so I didn't check anything.... I emailed immediately about the issue &no response. This is the worst rental car place EVER. Stay away, trust me. The counter people are NOT Helpful. I had someone that didn't go over anything on my rental agreement and didn't ask me about prepaid fuels, which I WOULD NEVER want. They just added it to my bill. But forget trying to get a hold of someone , they don't have a number to their desk. You can only call a customer service line during business hours and it's clearly outsourced to a place with employees who have no authority to make any changes or to help you in any way. I still am disputing the charge and they won't remove it. You can't get a hold of anyone with authority and still have been unable to physically talk to anyone at the counter in the airport. I even called other rental car places near them at the counter and they can't help me track anyone down. It's awful , 100% do NOT use them. read more

My brother-in-law tried to rent a car through this service. They showed up to get their car at the Indianapolis airport and were declined a rental because they didn't have a return flight scheduled and were locals of Indy. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE IF YOU ARE A LOCAL. He spent $40 for insurance on this car through Expedia and the extremely flamboyant receptionist basically told him and his girlfriend to go f&!k themselves and their $40. They had a trip planned to go to Colorado and it was less expensive to go through Expedia. This service was absolutely horrendous to work with and customer service was absolutely terrible. Seriously wish he would've looked on Yelp! To find a better rental car service than this one. Spend your money somewhere else unless you like to be treated like crap! Very displeased. read more

The only star is for the employee that stayed after his shift to rent my car as well as the line behind me. I had a reservation for 1am. The attendant says they are usually closed at that time so if it were not for him we would have been stranded at airport. our destination was over an hour away and I had 2 small kids with me. Car return was the same, there was no one to check car in. I took the chance of leaving the car with keys inside with hopes that they would check me in that same day. read more

They ripped me a new one when I wanted the ins to cover the car it cost over $30 a day and when I reserved my vehicle there was nothing in the web site to tell me I had a option to get ins or not and on top of that I used a debit card which you can run either way and the company had to run a credit check, there was nothing saying anything about that on their site , it's a debit card it comes right out of your account, really people get a clue and on top of it the car wasn't clean looked like they just got it back and stuck it back in operation. Worst service ever. Jim at the airport counter yelled at me for having my married name on my credit card. When I showed him supporting documentation, he called his manager and told me that I had to wait. Meanwhile, I had already paid for the car on Orbitz two weeks ago. He was unreasonable and wouldn't even talk to my card company to confirm that I was who I said I was. He was totally unprofessional and had so many people in line waiting over a common sense issue. I generally like & prefer Dollar- NOT AT THIS LOCATION!!! while a couple of employees were nice, overall it was horrible. My pre-reserved car wasn't there! Lot attendants said an employee inside keeps writing the WRONG parking spot number on the folders & it doesn't match contract, so people are driving off in wrong car or it has to be reprocessed in & isn't available. Then when they did switch me to a different vehicle that was on the lot...they DOUBLED the cost & took off all my discounts I had reserved under. Bait and switch without disclosing the up sell. Watch what you are signing. I was told once it was inputed into the computer it couldn't be taken off. I went to another rental and they called back to the dollar manager who lied about the offers they made to me. Then I went back to get the deal they told the other rental company they offered (adding another driver for half price) then instead of the $100 agreed to price they charged me $126. Long story short my friend and I missed our flight a couple days ago and were gonna be stuck at the airport and we could not stay. The workers at dollar rental worked with our situation considering I'm not 25 and my friend didn't have a credit card. The workers there were kind a professional and dealt with the situation as best and as quickly as they could. The vehicle we got was in perfect condition and taken very well care off. Although the customer service was decent their cars are not in good condition whatsoever! You definitely are putting yourself at risk renting one of their cars. We were staying at a hotel 30 min away from the airport where we rented the car and right away started seeing warning signals displayed that the tire pressure and that the car was due for an oil change.
