Customer service was deceitful and complaints to management were uneventful. After speaking with the manager, it was communicated to me that I was in the wrong and her representative would never do anything as I was describing. Therefore, she did not work with me to come up with a compromise to the problem. To me this in NO WAY lives up to the idea of customer care and consideration. As a new customer to how car rentals work (never rented a car before in my life) and insurance plans, I put full trust in the customer representative. I clearly stated nothing extra. He continued on with the transaction knowing very well that I was being charged extra. It was my mistake for not reading closely to what I was signing or paying attention to the price difference. He sped through the process without informing me in detail the insurance coverage. To add to to the deceitful salesmanship, I asked if it would be any extra money to add an additional driver. He said no it would not. With astonishment, I repeated "Seriously, it would not be any extra money to add a driver!" I specifically remember restating what he told me because I thought it would be extra money and I was excited that it would not. Later I found out that it was extra money. He gave me false information. When I took my complaint to the corporate headquarters she was very apologetic, listened to my problems, and was very explanatory regarding how the insurance purchase works when renting a car. I felt as though she was empathetic and did everything she could to help me out. Unfortunately, since the Indianapolis Airport Dollar Car Rental is independently owned, she could not do much to help with either a reimbursement or free rental the next time (although I would not want a car from them again anyway). I did not conduct research on the company before purchasing this rental through Expedia. I see now that their rating is extremely low on customer service and a variety of other things. I will now add to the common feedback! I will NEVER rent from Dollar Car Rental again and I would highly recommend that you choose another company to patronize. read more

I rented a car to visit relatives in Indiana and Kentucky. I used the PlatePass to pay the toll to cross the Ohio river and mentioned that when I turned the car in. The attendant said I'd get the bill. Imagine my surprise when I got a bill for $54.95. Wells Fargo could learn sneaky from these folks. Avoid them. read more

I was originally scheduled to go to Columbus, my flight was cancelled. Got a flight to Indianapolis, so I took it called Enterprise to transfer my rental, they wanted another $4oo, so I call Alamo ,they wanted $100 to drop off a car in Columbus. Called Dollar they we're more then happy to help me and did not try to gouge me. Got a good car at a fair rate, got to Columbus in time for my 45th Class reunion. Anthony tried to help us, but...we used 27000 airline points, and $74 ...but when we arrived we were advised we would need to pay an additional $115 for Taxes and fees. They were sweet and nice, but when we paid in full through out airline, that meant nothing. Do not use airline points and book with Dollar, it was the same amount of money if I had booked without my points! read more

Don't rent from Dollar at any location. I was one of the thousands of passengers affected by the power outage at the Atlanta airport on December 17. I was unable to make my connecting flight into Indianapolis, was rebooked/cancelled numerous times. Dollar refused to refund the money paid for my original reservation. Neither would they apply the money to the new reservation I had to make. Bad PR!!!! Can't imagine how much Dollar profited off other travelers in the same situation. read more

I reserved a standard car from dollar at a low advertised online price at the Indianapolis airport on two occasions. The first time I was told that the only car available was an Xterra, a huge suv with terrible milage and handling. The next time I was told that I had to rent a pickup truck. When I complained I was told to read the rental agreement which stated that they would provide a standard car or LARGER. Under that theory they could rent you a moving van. I went to the next counter to budget rental and got a standard car. They told me that this happens all the time with dollar. Budget tried to match Dollar's advertised price and did with just a few dollars difference. They also allow additional drivers at no extra cost. Beware Dollars bait and switch tactics. read more

This company will put charges on your card without mentioning a word about them. The original estimate given before arrival will be raised drastically (in our case doubled) upon pickup of the car and extra surcharges and airport taxes will be added once you drive off the lot. We reserved a luxury car and when we got to the airport we were told none was available. We could have a Dodge 1600 he I truck or. Nissan Xterra small SUV. We chose the Xterra. The car was filthy. The windshield was difficult to see through due to the dirt. I can overlook that since the weather was cold and perhaps they don't want to wash cars in cold weather. But the inside was dirty and had shoe prints on the dash and a bunch of dirt on the rear floor mats. Plus other rental companies had clean cars in their sections. We didn't get a break on the price for not getting the type car we wanted and they tried to scare us into taking additional insurance. We will. NEVER rent from dollar again. read more

Everything here is Hell nightmare.. It start from front desk. I rented Mini van , I booked in advance so I expected it will take max 20 min but NO it took me 45 min yes 45 min ,because Manger who was attending me, and in every 2 min he was going inside and coming back in 10 min. Then Finally I got the keys Car was there as i expected .But look like old Van (not expected). I start driving on highway ,I took the sped to 75 miles and guess what FLAT TYRE because Tyre were not in condition to handle speed (That mechanic told me).I called to Dollar (manager) and I was told as i booked the car from price line and took insurance from there so called them (fair enough). I called INSURANCE COMPANY and thank you 4rth of july they were closed ,I again called Dollar company expecting that at least they will help me but straight and rude answer" I am sorry" and they hanged up the call. I was lucky that some mechanic was passing through and he helped me , another 1 hour gone.I will never go back to this company to rent a car neither will suggest any of my friend. Better go for Hertz or enterprise. I HATE YOU GUYS. Please have some courtesy towards your customer and give them good car at least respect there time value. I Was in Indiana for work and my rental through Dollar Rental Car which was covered by my company. When I returned my rental car, I had to pay a fuel charge which was fine. When I gave them my Bank Card, I advised the clerk to only charge me my fuel charge because my company was covering the remainder. The clerk said to me, " No Problem Mr. Clancy" and he then confirmed the amount and I said yes/ He then proceeded to charge my card the full amount which over drafted my bank account and I have no been hit with over $200 in over draft fees due o the Dollar Rental car Clerk not paying attention.When I called the customer service department, they informed me that all they can do is send me a CC swap form which both, myself and my company had to fill out. We did that and the CS department told me that it would take 24-48 hours to make the change. At this time, I am still being hit with over draft fee's. I am going on over 60 hours and no change has been made. I have called Dollar Rental over a dozen times in regards to my situation and they tell me that they don't have any contact with the CC swap Department and they cant help me in anyway. I explain to the CS department about the amount of overdraft fees I have been charged because of the screw up on their employees behalf and asked for reimbursement. The CS department said they do not do that but they offered me a 15% off coupon on my next rental with them. I explained that I would never rent from them again because how terrible their service is. The CS rep then proceeded to tell me that She has to end the call because I was "stressing her out." I asked the CS rep how I was stressing her out because if anything, I am the one who should be stressed out because Dollar Rental took my money. The CS rep then hung up the phone on me! Absolutely ridiculous trying to book with dollar. I chose dollar last night over another company. I booked and gave my credit card information. Today I get an email that my reservation has been cancelled because they do not have the pathfinder or similar at the location. Why would the car even be available to book online if you don't have any. Why is it that I can go back on line today and still find that same pathfinder for $457.93 and book it only to find out that I can't really book it. I spoke with 4 representatives and wasted my time today. Patricia, Sam, Kanika and Cheenee. All useless. Your company needs to take a look at how they are operating as it seems to me that it is a bait and switch. So I can't get the car I expected but for 50-$100 more I can get similar. That is completely wrong. Your so called supervisor Cheenee should be able to override and book a similar suv at the same price as expected. Once the first request got denied it should remove that deal from the website! I chose dollar over avis last night. Guess what...avis' deal isn't available today. That will never happen again and will be sure to tell family and friends never to shop dollar! So now I am back to square one because of your companies lack of organization and process. We had reserved a Dollar rental car online through the "Wildcard" deal, which allows the agency to give you whatever vehicle they desire. Little did we realize that that included large Ford trucks. At the desk, the manager (as she identified herself) gave us a less than friendly look and said rather smugly, "I see you have the online special. The manager decides what vehicle to give, and I'm the manager." The vehicle we would be given was a large Ford truck. We were told that there were very few cars because of the Brickyard race to take place in a few days. But then we were offered two different sizes of cars for an additional $20 per day. Never get Dollar's wildcard deals, and I'd say avoid the people at Dollar at the Indianapolis airport. We went to the Budget guy at the next counter. We didn't get a cheap deal, but he tried his best. As a further note, the Loss/Damage waiver was around $25 a day at Budget with a 30% tax added to that. read more

These folks are absolutely the worst. Did not have the car ready when I arrived. The credit card system was down so they placed a large charge on my card manually. I returned the car a day early and was told the present staff could not tell me my charges and gave me a card for a manager-because only a manager can do this work. After a half-dozen calls-nothing, then the number rolled to general customer service. 3 transfers and no one could help me. After my return I received a notice of more charges due to tolls in Chicago. Toll was $5.25 and admin fees were $60 (that tells you alot about dollar). My use of the car was no where near Chicago. So now I find myself still trying to get a correct charge and now having to deal with fraudulent charges. We normally use Enterprise but got stuck with Dollar through an Orbitz deal....they cannot hold a candle to Enterprise. Customer service-1 star, staff capability 1 star. The true test of a company is how they handle a problem....these folks are terrible. Do not rent from them. read more
