I told him no I didn't need that much room. He proceeded to say he didn't have anything available unless he calls his Simi valley store which closed in 30 minutes. The reason why was the cars he expected back didn't come back. But my reservation was for 4pm does he not have access to the daily rentals? They could've planned and asked for the other store to bring a car if they knew none came back. Anyways I ended up with no car although I reserved one. I guess reserving a car doesn't mean anything. I had to walk to the Avis counter next door and get rental through them since it was late and almost all rental places were about to close. The lot looked full so I assume those were all Avis cars. He then informs me that I need to refill the tank with gas(of course), but I need to provide them a receipt or they will take the truck and refill it at 8.00 a gallon. He was correct, this isn't Enterprise or any other place I've rented vehicles from. I'm doing the walkaround and I notice the check engine light is on and I'm told "not to worry". First of all, we picked the truck up at 2:30pm yesterday and returned it at 10am this morning and we were charged for TWO FULL DAYS for less than 1 day of having the truck. Upon picking up the truck, we were required to do a walk around with one of their workers. He was very quick and pointed out everything they had seen and had me initial for those things and sign. I did so, trusting that since it was their truck, they knew everything that was wrong with it. When my driver returned Rent It called me and their representative Brian was very curt said he damaged the top cap of the truck and charged me $450 to replace it. I told him that we didn't do the damage and that my driver had absolutely no opportunity to damage it as there was NOTHING OVERHEAD ON HIS ROUTE OTHER THAN SKY. Regardless of this, he didn't listen or care and proceeded to tell me he was going to charge it anyways. I guess my mistake was not taking pictures of the truck since they don't bother to take some of their own. They would rather baselessly accuse and charge their customers. I very rarely write reviews but I felt I needed to so maybe someone will think twice before using Rent It for their truck needs. Terrible company, terrible customer service, negligent policies. Earlier today, I rented a Jeep Wrangler from this location. Within approximately one mile of…read moreleaving the branch, I entered the freeway and the Jeep developed an extremely severe front end wobble. The vehicle began shaking violently and became difficult to steer at freeway speed. I immediately exited the freeway and returned the Jeep to the branch because I did not believe it was safe to continue driving. When I explained what had happened and asked for another vehicle, I was offered a Honda Accord. Before accepting it, I noticed significant preexisting damage to the rear of the vehicle. The bumper appeared to be partially detached and there was a substantial dent. Given what had just occurred with the Wrangler, I wanted to be particularly careful before accepting another vehicle. I asked the employee assisting me, Brok, to confirm that the Accord's existing damage had been documented so there would be no question later about my responsibility for it. Brok did not come outside with me to inspect the damage and instead attempted to hand me the key inside the building without having me sign anything related to the replacement vehicle or its condition. When I asked specifically about the visible damage, he repeatedly told me that the vehicle had already been checked in and inspected. I explained that I simply wanted confirmation that the damage I was seeing had been documented before I drove the vehicle away. I did not receive that confirmation. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable accepting the Accord and asked to cancel the rental. Brok told me that I could cancel, but that I would still be charged for the day because I had already driven the Wrangler off the property. I found that response particularly concerning. I had not returned the Wrangler because I changed my mind about the rental. I returned it almost immediately because it experienced a violent front end and steering condition at freeway speed that presented a serious safety concern. Brok continued to argue with me about the cancellation and charge, at which point I began recording part of our conversation on my cell phone. I have attached that recording. The interaction became contentious enough that another Enterprise employee who overheard our conversation stepped in. She directed Brok to leave the interaction, assisted me herself, refunded my money, and provided me with a receipt documenting the refund. I appreciated her intervention and the professional way she handled the situation once she became involved.
