Clothing is pretty much a given at tj maxx... they have duvet covers (along with pillows, sheets and comforters which was a nice plus... The best part was the friendly service. I've gone to this store for years on occasion, in the past I went there frequently, and always try…read moregiving them the benefit of the doubt when they're rude or impatient because I know they're short staffed, etc. But honestly even on days when I see 2-3 people working, people can be rude. I stopped in there tonight ten minutes before they closed on my way to pick up my daughter from her job in Kingston after working hours myself and I had to grab something real quick and it was convenient to go in there quick. If you don't want last minute stragglers, then lock the doors at 8:30 if it's such an inconvenience to wait on customers. When I was younger I worked closing shifts in fast food where I had to wait on people at the drive thru and juggle the lobby while trying to close and shut down the frontend and clean bathrooms and I was still pleasant to customers. I'm over trying to go out of my way to be nice and they have officially lost my business which I'm sure they won't care. But, hey, guess what buddies? If you lose enough business the store closes and you lose your job...

Stop by this Dollar General for the first time and it was okay. The price tags, especially the…read morepromotion tags were confusing. We purchased the item that we thought they were on sale as the sales tag was right above of it, but the price did not reflect the promotion. The cashier had no idea why the promotion did not kick it and we waited for at least 10 minutes for the store manager to figure out. We were then told that the item we got was not on sale and it was just placed above the price tag by mistake. The store manager did apologize to us though, but the cashier should have been able to figure that out instead of wasting time waiting there. Most items were priced reasonable. I also like the variety of items / sizes they carry. Overall it was an okay experience and I will probably stop by again when I am in town next time.

I got probably WAY too much candy, a cookie sheet, some towels and kitchen stuff, a scented candle, and misc other stuff for about 24$ including tax. One thing I must say is that if you're from NYC it's great to come here for people watching. I *literally* saw a family of huckleberry's pile out of a lifted pickup truck and spill into the store. The father, of course, wearing the bad-a*s 2-wolf shiny-shirt-thing tucked into jeans and boots; he obviously knows how to do it up. As they were screaming across the store at each other I could not help but smile as I pictured them striking oil in their backyard and moving to Beverley Hills with grandma tied to the back of the dune buggy in her rocking chair. Other than the subtle charms of the place, it's a good, cheap place to go for various utensils and cooking things! :)
