Ever since the $.99 store on Harbor Boulevard closed, I've been hunting for a new place to find hidden gems that are affordable, so I was very excited to find this Dollar Tree next to the Post Office in Costa Mesa. My favorite thing to look for is holiday/decorative knick knack type stuff or seasonal stuff, which this store seemed to lack. My husband and I bought some kitchen products however, because of the cheap adhesive that was used to put on the price tag, the glue never came off the products. We even tried GOO gone, which I'm not even sure you're supposed to use on cooking items but ended up having to just return three out of the 10 items we bought due to the price tag sticker issue. They had a lot of good essentials, just not a lot of extra, decorative, and fun items to choose from. The store was clean and seemed well stocked and organized for what they had. read more

Now, I don't come into this Dollar Tree often, but I frequent the post office next door. I probably visit this location maybe once a month. I came in today to buy a cheap card for my small nephews birthday. Of course there was only one cashier with a store full of people. Not surprising. That's not the part I'm upset about. It's the part where I watched a cashier ( short, hispanic older lady) greet 2 of the customers in front of me with a smile, asked them if they needed a bag, and said thank you for their purchase and have a great day. Once it was my turn, I wanted to see what she would do. She didn't greet me, didn't acknowledge me at all, didn't give me my total or even ask me if I wanted a bag for my items. The cherry on top was she didn't even say thank you for my purchase like she did with the two guests in front of me. A simple thank you. Just handed me my receipt and proceeded to help the lady behind me and smiled at her and greeted her nicely. Now I used to be in customer service for YEARS and have always greeted the customers I was helping whether I was having a great day or not. This lady was just outright rude and cold. I would hate to feel like I was treated a certain way because of race, but that's what it felt like. It's orange county so it's not surprising. Just a note for the employee who treated me very cold... my dollars are just as green as the person before and after me and spends just the same, so I should be treated just the same! I love the dollar tree but this location isn't great. Parking is terrible most of the time but the really bad part is the lines. There is always one cashier with one long line. Today, at almost 5 pm on a Friday, one cashier is open with a line down an aisle. There are at least 3 ladies on the floor stocking merchandise. Same exact situation a few days ago. I live close to the store and I have been going there for years . Most of the time it's a nightmare and Lulu the manager is absolutely horrible arrogant and narcissistic . She acts like the world revolves around her and I have probably had a hundred conversations with her and I'm not exaggerating regarding long lines which I have taken pictures of and in the last two or three days I have had major confrontations with her one time I was waiting in line another time somebody charged tried to charge three times a card in front of me and was declined and needed a manager the cashier called for a manager she never showed up I went back to the office she was sitting there with her back door against me she didn't even acknowledge me and I said I've been waiting in line and she did not even respond. I urge anybody that has a problem to the store to email the regional manager as the district manager hasn't helped the email address is D Direct at Dollar tree.com . If you have problems please just send your feedback directly to the regional manager as it seems the people on the lower levels are more worried about getting a paycheck and covering their butts then really doing a good job. I have never had such a poor consistent experience in any store I have ever shopped that in my life and I'm sure if you go there with any frequent basis you will agree with me . Please take pictures and document and provide complaints so that the management can see how many people are experiencing the problems just like me I'm not asking for special treatment I'm just asking to be respected and obviously the store and some of it's employees do not . I came here for the first time to buy Mother's Day and party supplies because i didnt want to spend a ton of $. They had everything I was looking for and so much more. They had a ton of mothers day balloons already inflated just floating around so I grabbed a couple... also got a toys for my son and ended up spending $30. The lines were sort of long but the cashiers did their thing and got us all thru the best they could. Probably will come here for all balloons from now on since they're the best price around, even if it's a hit or miss as far as customer service. It's probably still worth it. read more

Wish they had some employees who knew English. Came here for birthday balloons and a lady helping out with balloons inflates a bouquet of balloons for a lady in front of me, sees me, and walks away. I gave her the benefit of the doubt thinking it's her break. I go looking for another employee because the two cashiers are busy, and I finally find one, but then she speaks to me quickly in Spanish and then in broken English that I need to go to the cashier. I wait in line for the cashier, only to have her tell me I need to get the balloons first, so I just left, frustrated that I waited in 2 lines and have to wait for 2 more lines. SO there I was, upset in my car in the parking lot, angrily updating my review, when a stranger knocks on my window asking for extra cash. Now, listen--I don't just give out cash because I don't want them to be used for something else than what they claim they need it for. If someone claims they need money for food, I'll buy a meal for them. He's asking for cash for a birthday bag and he told me he forgot his wallet at home. Although I may seem cold hearted, I'm not that mean to let this poor man drive back home to get his wallet but I'm also not going to just give him cash, so I go into the store with him to get his birthday bag and guess who's the cashier? The balloon girl who ignored me. Now I'm upset that I'm going to be giving money to this establishment who obviously needs to work on their employees' customer service because this girl totally ignored me earlier, but I can't just let this guy walk away without his birthday bag, so I pay for his bag and leave. Dollar tree is great. I like Dollar Tree more than the 99 cents store. They have a wide selection of balloons. From bridal shower to birthday balloons. They have more useful items here than the 99 cents store. The 99 cents store seems to be out of colors or items often. If you are having a party, you can find lots of items here. I've never had a problem with the staff, and getting balloons here is quick and painless. Yay! They just opened a Dollar Tree right next to the PO where my PO Box is. Odd location to put a Dollar Tree next to, but I guess a good use of the space, since its previous occupant was a consignment place (that always had unsightly junk hanging outside its store). I love Dollar Trees. Not cuz I'm a cheap bastard (or maybe so lol), but because you'd be surprised how many EVERYDAY household items you can find for just a dollar (vs. paying several more at Target or whatever). There is NOTHING wrong with saving a couple of bucks off of something if you can find it lower here. You can't get rich blowing off your money paying MORE for practically the same item when you can find it less elsewhere (like for a dollar here). The store is very well-lit, with ample parking (depending on when you go I guess). I'd have to guess the grand opening was maybe a week or so ago - for the longest time, I saw the Coming Soon sign up, and then the store slowly filled up with goods before I noticed they were open. I am also guessing that due to the location, not a lot of people know that the store is here, since when I did visit, I was practically the only shopper there (Sunday night). My grad student was wrapping prizes for our department holiday party and I inquired where she got such great wrapping paper. Turns out it was at the Dollar Tree. This interaction occurred right on the heels of my inability to morally purchase 10 dollar holiday wrapping paper from DVS. Hells to the no. I stopped by on my way home from work that very day and the skies parted as I encountered the gift wrap section. Glitter bags! Bows I thought would forever be out of my price range! Multi-colored wrapping paper of all varieties! Gift cards! Scissors! tape! Colorful tissue! My gifts now look like a freaking holiday Pintrist board threw up under my boyfriend's Christmas tree. So that was my first day. But I embarrassingly went there AT LEAST twice more last week. Probably 4 times in the past 10 days. Came here on 5/8/2021 at 3pm to buy some more Mother's Day balloons for my mom and an old Hispanic lady with glasses named Analee was my cashier. She was extremely rude, inconsiderate, and unprofessional. I had been at the same location the day before for some balloons that had deflated a bit and I asked her nicely if she would be able to reinflate them for me. They were in my car. She was standing there contemplating on whether or not she should reinflate 2 stinkin balloons for me while chit-chatting in Spanish with another younger coworker while I stood around for a few minutes waiting for her to help me. She at first asked if I had a receipt. I said no because why would I keep a receipt for some balloons from the dollar store. After several minutes have passed, I asked again if she would be able to help me or not and she as a matter-of-factly said, "you know what right now I can't anyways because I'm busy and she's on her break" as she pointed to her coworker. It takes 2 seconds to reinflate some balloons that were the exact same ones that were being sold at the store. One of the most unprofessional and inconsiderate employees I have ever came across. I will not be returning to this location. There is better customer service elsewhere. Update: Every other Dollar Tree I have called, the employees were more than happy to reinflate my balloons for me! To start off, I will admit, I love a good bargain whenever I find one, so this might bias me a little in favor of a dollar tree. That being said, this store is very nice. They have a very wide selection of goods and even carry a good deal of seasonal items. They have a smaller frozen/refrigerated section than some other dollar stores I have been to. The prices as with most dollar stores are quite a deal for what you get as they a vast amount of things one might need. Usually they only have one checker, maybe two, working so if you hit it at a rush then you might wait a little while, but overall I have had to wait more that 5 minutes only once in my dozen or so visits. read more
