I had the absolute worst experience at the Dollar Tree on Mission Road in San Marcos, and it's all thanks to their so-called manager, Tori. I was trying to check out, and there was only one cashier working--she was new and clearly still learning. I was attempting a split payment, but the cashier didn't know how to process it. That's okay; she's new! But instead of helping, Tori was on her break and took forever to come assist--at least five minutes--while a line of 10 people formed behind me. People started leaving because of how slow it was. And when she finally came, she had this awful attitude, as if I was wasting her precious break time. She snapped at me after I made a small mistake and told me it was my last chance--canceling my order if I messed up again. The cashier was visibly embarrassed by Tori's treatment, and I was disgusted by how she treated her employee. Then, after this whole fiasco, when someone asked if another register could open, Tori just waved them off and walked away rudely. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable for a manager. Do yourself a favor and avoid this store--Tori should not be in a leadership position!!!!!! read more

Accessibility: accessible parking across from the entrance of the building and other parking available...sometimes the parking lot is packed though because of the gym next door. There is a ramp to get up to the sidewalk and motion activated doors that open for you when approaching. The store inside is very well lit during the day and night, but the parking lot is very dark at night and maybe not the safest as I have seen people sometimes hanging around. They do have a single restroom here but last time I came it was closed...not sure If it's back open...you can use the restroom at the grocery store in the same parking lot though...many, many doors down. Experience: I do love this store. They have most of what you need. Household items, pet items, shower/bath items, frozen foods, snack foods, birthday supplies, holiday supplies and more. read more

I do not live near this store and there are other stores much closer to my home, however, I come out of my way to shop here! Giovanni was helpful and made my day when I was bummed that my Wiley Wallaby Classic Red Licorice was out...he stopped what he was doing and said, "let me check the back." This dollar tree is bigger and more organized than the ones that are closer to where I live. I like coming to this location because they seem to have more variety for garden supplies. I had been looking for more of the hanging basket chains but couldn't find them anywhere else. Here, I got three of them. So happy. The customer service has always been pleasant too. read more

I like the the Dollar Tree Overall. But what is with the cashiers? I get it's not an easy job as far as customers can make it difficult. But its also not hard; To scan items and put them in the bag and say hello and ask customers how can I assist you, Thank you for shopping at Dollar Tree. Ok let me stop because this is not my job. But I don't want my experience to be difficult either. I don't want to leave thinking that I will never come back here. We all have our bad day! At times it hasn't been the most pleasant. Now on another note. This store is pretty organized. Compared to some other Dollar Trees I have been to. Their were associates walking the floor, putting away returns. Cashiers were busy. As a former worker at dollar tree. I've experienced the good and bad. From my experiences you are getting what you pay for, the cashiers, my co workers, some of the best people I've met where all great people, that was several months ago and it's now under new management, I haven't been to that store in quite a while but from I can hear, management isn't the best, but that doesn't mean the cashiers or other associates are bad also, some do there job great! But others unfortunately cause a burden to their fellow co workers who have to pick up the slack. What I'm trying to say, the store and location itself is okay. And I would kind of recommend you shop there. read more

Selection and freezer section is nice and well organized. I enjoyed the dollar tree. We needed a glue gun and they sold glue sticks but no glue gun. It was awesome for stocking stuffers and I would recommend/return. read more

The cashier and manager were so nice! Literally can't remember the last time a store associate said hi to me or asked me if I needed help. I'm happy this store moved into the empty store front. However, this is the third discount store in. I hope they have the staying power and they are spending their advertising budget wisely. The items they have are usually worth the value, although I've seen a few items less at Walmart. It's worth the extra since it's right down the street and it keeps me from dealing with the Walmart aisles. We've had great service every time we've been in.
