I shop here on a regular basis. I just like their little crafting supplies...... So their security guy watches me go through line watches me grab my receipt step to the side and put my stuff in my own bag..... Then once I'm 15 feet out the door he asked me to come back in and show me the store receipt..... he watch me check out in both ladies upfront. I went to this dollar store early in the morning and was told that I couldn't come in because the first hour is reserved for the elderly. I then said you need to have that posted to which an employee showed me where it was posted on the outside. Upon reading the sign I saw that it said the elderly AND the vulnerable. Being someone that is immunocompromised, I knew that this applied to me as well and yet they still did not let me into this store which is illegal. When I called the employee (an old Caucasian woman with glasses) out on this, she then proceeded to close the door in my face. It is not required to show proof of your vulnerability and disability. This dollar tree should be totally ashamed of themselves. Completely ashamed. They are not the only stores partaking in reserving the first hour for seniors and vulnerable adults so to turn someone away just because they LOOK a certain way is wrong. Not once did they even think to ASK even though I came and parked in the handicap, with my handicap plaque. Obviously meaning I have SOME type of disability. So what now? This review is about San Juan Capistrano location. Keep your receipts. I go to two dollartree stores(San Juan Capistrano, Capistrano beach) and this happened at one of them(San Juan Capistrano,) This one particular guy seems to ring the items I didn't buy or overcharge the item. Second time I caught him, I showed my receipt and items in the bag. He called up the other employee and they started arguing to me (instead of explaining to me)that there's nothing wrong. I waited their apology but it never came, saying, "Nobody's perfect." was the closest thing they said. since then I never returned to that store. It's more important to defend their colleague than the customer even if they know they are wrong. read more

The store is fine EXCEPT they don't in force the mask rule. I had mine on the whole time but the people in front of me didn't. I expected the cashier to say something but he didn't, so shit, can I take mines off too!?? It clearly says it on the door! Constantly disappointed with the terrible customer service, and how dirty and unorganized this dollar tree is. This one is my least favorite because of the order, but mostly because of the staff here. Theres never enough staff and they always have horrible customer service. Everything is a dollar. You have to remember a can of veggies is cheaper at Winco, Albertsons and Safeway! Do not buy your food products here. It is a waste. What you should purchase here is greeting cards, party decorations, and picture frames! Cleaning Supplied and storage containers! All great options for $1.00. Kids toys although cheap will do the trick in a pinch! I love getting glowsticks here as well! Selection is good for many things....,The downfall of these stores...Its like Walmart! They have 8 check out lanes and one person cashiering! There is ALWAYS a line a mile long and people don't want to wait! I have been here several times on the week days and have seen people put their stuff down and walk out after waiting in a line for ten minutes. The crew tonight was very unprofessional. Although it was near closing their aggression caused a lot of awkwardness for the patrons. It is Cinco De Mayo but the tone and displeasure to be there makes me wonder about all three team members. In the middle of chaos the manager was MIA and pulled the young lady away when she came to rescue the guy who obviously was overly frustrated about something and wanting to leave because of his tone when not greeting but yelling "close in 10 minutes although it was 15 minutes till. Don't like the weird cramped parking lot. Hit or miss with their customer service. The aisle I wanted to go down was blocked by an employee stocking the shelves, this is no biggie but as she was trying to work another employee who was not working that day stood around gossip and complaining. I don't need to hear your drama while I'm trying to shop. My cashier today was horrible! She was very rough wrapping my glassware and slammed the bag down on the counter. I was at this location today. It just seems to be getting worse. Empty shelves, no carts in store. Items were strewn about the isles like someone just ran through and threw things off the shelves. One employee was stocking stuffed animals in the Valentine's Day isle and was grunting and sighing very loudly. So unprofessional. I little surprised that there are so many bad reviews for this store. I have been going here for a few years now and general have had a good experience. Yes the parking lot is a miss, they seem to have more turnover in employees than other location, and the stocking while customers are in the store should not be happening or should be done in a manner does not interfere with the customer's shopping experience. I personal think these shortcomings are more a reflection of ownership and management then the employees. The employees that I have interacted with are always helpful, accommodating, and polite. read more

I just spent the night at a friends house, I had my green army bag full to the brim with my personal items. I knew I'd probably get looked at like a shop lifter. Especially since I have a disease which requires wirings and tubes and bags on the outside of my stomach, which looks like I'm stealing. A associate with a long black skirt on saw me put my phone in my pocket, and I could tell she instant thought I was stealing. I put down the item in my hand, went to the back for ice cream, and headed to the front to pAy. I need ice cream because I suffer from low blood sugar because of my disease. As I was heading up to pay, an older lady with a bun walked up to me, angry. "Leave my store and don't come back" she said. She wouldn't even let me take my ice cream. I walked out ashamed, as she yelled in front of everyone. Not even bothering trying to explain my illness. Or offering to allow her to look through my bag, which consisted of over night gear. I guess I won't be coming back to this dollar tree. Which is a shame. Due to my severe illness And being unable to work because of COVID, I'm nearly broke and can only afford to shop here. I can't really afford to go to other dollar trees because I walk. Guess I'll just have to try and sneak back in or have a friend shop for me. read more

Went here to get something, but they were all out. This place isn't the most organized Dollar Tree I've been to- items were in the wrong place, the hanging items were facing the wrong way, products on the floor, etc. They also had a lot of empty shelves in the paper towel/toilet paper area. They do have good deals (like 2-3 bars of soap for a dollar, floss picks, etc), but I think I'd rather visit another location. Also, the parking lot lines are faded, so it seems dangerous. read more
