It's a clean B&N. Nice place to hang out alone or with friends. It wasn't loud in the Starbucks area. Everything is well-lit. I met my sister here and the conversations in the dining area stayed pretty low in volume. I recommend this place! read more

Love the new store and location. This B&N sells a ton of books and the company finally gave them a new store and upgrade to match. The service is still the best and the staff are still friendly and knowledgeable. The selection is incredible (ok, I think more mysteries are needed) and the amount of Manga is amazing. Harry Potter fans will rejoice at the wall of Potter products and those with little ones are going to love the new children's section that has expanded. The new layout is easy once you get used to it, but give it some time to let the larger selection of books to sink in. The B&N Cafe is still serving up Starbucks coffee and several alternatives. Many great nibbles if you're hungry and a new seating area. Check out the cook book nook as well. All in all a beautiful new store. Be sure to plan a bit of extra time to explore this new store. read more

This is the closest B&N to where I live and so we visit at least once every few months. The store is always neat and tidy and the staff are continually friendly and helpful. I love browsing the different areas that they have and the staff picks are on point for what I am looking for when wanting a recommendation. I am an avid reader and I appreciate that they have several theme tables reflecting some of the social media trends you may be looking for when book shopping. Awesome store. Layout is the usual B&N which works well. But, as other recent reviews have stated some of the staff have no customer service common sense. I asked for the restroom code and the clerk behind the desk told me that the restrooms were down due to pipe issues. I said oh that sucks how do employees use the restroom (jokingly). As I was set to end that conversation with a smile, he stoped me mid turn around and said, they have to walk across the parking lot to use targets restrooms on their breaks! I looked at him and said really, that doesn't seem reasonable from an employee/employer standpoint or within L&I standard I'm guessing. He replies with "yeah it is" with a smirk on his face and turned and walked away. I just stood there confused. Why would someone in a customer service position need to be so sassy? Love this store. Always my go-to for new books. Good selection & they'll order a book that's not in stock and you don't have to pay until it's in the store and you can look it over first. The cafe there has a good selection of snacks, light lunches, and cool little gifts (as well as the usual Starbucks menu). I think this is the Barnes & Noble at the Town Center. It's definitely one of the largest Barnes & Noble I have been too in a long time, and with the most extra non-book items I have ever seen, especially toys. I actually spent more time in the toys and extras section (such as bath soaps, beach bags, etc) than I did looking at books; although tbh I rarely purchase a book offline anymore as they are far too expensive and I cannot justify it. The cafe was huge and almost empty. Actually the hugeness and emptiness of this location was odd at times as you kept running into the employees who kept staring at you or at least it felt that way. When they go under it's not Amazon's fault. The customer service has caused me to never shop there again. Wanting to support brick and mortar stores, I've put up with a lot to keep them in business. my final straw came today when I arrived just as the store opened to purchase a book their website said was in stock. after looking for it for 15 minutes, I gave up and wandered through the store looking for anyone that might work there. After another 30 minutes of that I approached the girl at checkout who had no customers in line and asked for help. At that point she said, sure ill have someone meet you at customer service! So either they didn't schedule enough people, they weren't wearing anything to identify themselves as employees, or the the cashier was lazy. but at 10 in the morning I shouldn't have to ask for help to ask for help! Other times I've walked out after waiting in line for an hour while the I've had problems with this store multiple times but today was my last time supporting the company. I want to support brick and mortar stores even though it's easier to purchase off of Amazon, however the people working there have caused me to never give my business to the company again. Not one time was I greeted, not that she had anyone in line. If there was someone that could meet me at customer service then why were they not out and visible on the floor? Either the store isn't hiring enough people to assist customers, or they don't want to be seen. Either way after thirty minutes someone should have recognized that I had nothing in my hands and was wandering all throughout the store given there was no more than five people in there at any given time. Again this is my final straw with the company. It seems you hire the people that no other retailer wants because they are too lazy. When stock is down and people are blaming Amazon, it's not their fault, it's the lazy, worthless employees that work there. Another time WhIle waiting in line for an hour (no exaggeration) the cashier chatted about each individual book the customers buying and signing up anyone for the rewards membership which is obviously more important than pushing customers through the line. These are the people who are too stupid, and lazy to work at another retailer. I've been buying books there my entire life, but these worthless employees have ended that for me. my book will be here tomorrow from Amazon. read more

this is the best, most accessible bookstore near me at the moment which makes it my current favorite bookstore! they have the biggest fantasy/sci-fi section compared to any other bookstores i've checked out, including the B&N in Federal Way. There are probably better bookstores in/closer to Seattle but this far out I really enjoy this B&N's selection. read more

I came here to make a return and was turned away by an extremely rude manager. When asking about the return policy, the answer I got left me feeling like I was stupid for having a question, as If I'm supposed to be 100% familiar with your stores policy before walking in. Employees are there to be helpful, not hurtful. If you're looking for friendly customer service and hospitality, or just a simple purchasing / and or returning process, I'd recommend going to a different location. read more

Worst barnes and noble I have ever been to. And believe me I've been to barnes and noble in california, and el paso. The store itself is not the issue. It is the employee's that i have a problem with. I had to use the bathroom within the business and I personally would like privacy when I do a #2.. so of course as any regular human being I close the door to my stall. One of the female mangers tell me that the door stays open as if there was NOT even a camera at the walk in of the bathroom... I'm never coming back here after today. What can you say about Barnes and Noble, really? It's a big box bookstore with a lot of magazines, under $10 reading gifts, and toys. They of course, have lots of best sellers and all that as well. The cafe features Starbucks products and they make a delicious cheesecake, one of my favorite slices. The thing that makes B&N special today is the fact that it is slowly becoming a toy store, but unlike Toys R Us, Target, Wal-Mart, Barnes and Noble is not a "few good toys" flanked by a ton of junk, no. B&N is a NICE toy story, think FAO Schwartz meets the Lego store. This is the place to go when you want to get a nice gift for a birthday, Christmas gift, etc. The staff has been kind on every visit and there is a door man who makes sure that everyone who enters has a face mask on. They are taking COVID-19 precautions seriously and I respect that. This is a nice B&N location that is always clean, has a friendly staff, AWESOME toys, and a baller slice of cheesecake. read more

Barnes & Noble have never caused me a problem. Although I wasn't like everyone else who came here for studying purposes.. I used to come often to just look around. Especially the magazines.. and I hated coming here to buy SAT & ACT books.. Yikes! I did so horribly. Yesterday I came to look into getting a study bible for the first time because I want to build a new (stronger) relationship with GOD. Luckily I did find one that I am excited to dig into! I haven't opened it yet but I got the NIV Quest Study Bible: The Question and Answer Bible :) I spent an hour looking around Barnes & Noble for the RIGHT one for me as a beginner. I didn't really find the other ones as helpful as what I thought of the Quest one. My sister also found one that works best for her. The NIV Student Bible (Compact). I also wanted to brush up on my Japanese.. since my high school years.. the teacher wasn't very good. I didn't end up getting the book yet because I just spent a wad of money on the Quest Study Bible. But I will be coming back to Banres & Noble for future book shopping. read more

I have been shopping at this Barns and Noble forever. The selection of books, cards, magazines, and knickknacks are great! There are always tables around the store suggesting "summer's hottest" or "books that make you think" or "classics" that showcase great finds at generally reasonable prices. I am almost always able to find a book I am excited to read. If, for some reason, the book I am looking for is not in the store, the sales associates have always been extremely friendly and helpful. They will order the book you want and give you a call when it arrives without a hassle. I'm always pleased. The selection of cards are quirky and unique. I love looking there for funny or special birthday, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and graduation cards! I always leave satisfied with my finds. I am a sucker for knickknacks. They range from leather journals to art supplies, henna tattoo kits, and funny "make a decision" notepads. I love browsing these items. Finally, the cafe is my favorite place. They serve Starbucks coffee, but you can use your Barns and Noble member discount here as well to save 10%. I love the shaken black iced tea and the triple chocolate chunk cookie (& sometimes the spinach and feta stuffed pretzel. YUM!). The cafe staff is friendly and, if you are like me and frequent the cafe, will remember your name and your order! I have had many lovely conversations with one of the baristas, Heather. Love that we still have one of these in town, don't want to say anything bad because i don't want to lose this location. However, used to love to do some work here in the cafe and then go book hunt, but now they let several homeless just take over all the tables, they are loud, smell awful, and take up all the available plugs. This location is so slow! It takes 5 minutes to find what you want/need and 20 minutes to check out. It physically hurts my brain when I have to stand here, patiently or impatiently waiting. I am a happy camper. Why? Because I had a gift card and Law School Confidential was in stock! The store was easy to find (I'm new to the area), parking was not a problem (I keep forgetting I'm not in LA anymore!), and I got exactly what I came here for. I walked around the whole store, thinking I could find the book on my own. T'was not the case. Luckily the info desk was a help because I would have never found the book on my own! They've got a great selection of books, both regular priced and on sale. There's always so much to choose from but 1. I can find almost any type of books here. This store also sells other items like bags, umbrellas, mugs, greeting cards, planners, calendars, gift cards, chocolates, just to name a few. Things are well organized so it's easy to find things. There's always staff available for assistance. They're really helpful and friendly. Starbucks is also inside the store... so you can read your book while you drink your coffee. There's lots of parking, I never had a problem finding one. read more

Extremely rude!! 5 min to closing I had 3 different staff members walk up to me and tell we close in 5 minutes. Then they come over the loudspeaker and say we are closed please take all your purchases to the front immediately after that another staff member walked up to me and asked me are you done shopping we are closed I dropped all of the stuff that I had in my hands to purchase and walked out the door and I will not be treated like that as a customer in the store regardless of the time ! They should of said we are closing now and ask if there's anything else that you need to help me with and be kind not harass your customers because you want to get off work and go home needless to say I will never support any Barnes & Noble. This place used to be my sanctuary for years. It was a safe, comfortable, and sanitary place with Wi-Fi where I could study for hours on end with a convenient Starbucks cafe inside. Sadly, this place has severely succumbed to the homeless population and has become a daily shelter for heat, electricity, and panhandling. I've come here 2-3 times a week during finals and see the same people here over and over again. I can't even plug my laptop in to charge it to do work because each time I get here, a homeless person has a stroller full of their belongings blocking the way while they sit there and charge their cell phones. Tonight I sat down to find literally 6 homeless people taking over the cafe area and the tables surrounding outlets. One guy was falling asleep while another was sneezing OPEN MOUTHED repeatedly at least 10 times -- sniffling and coughing everywhere without a mask. To my right, a woman and her stroller of belongings took up the other outlet while her table was strewn with outside food: A liter cola, potato chips, candy wrappers, you name it while she played on her phone as it charged. I can't even tell you how many times the bathrooms had to be closed because something "happened." Last week, one of them was having a full-on argument with themselves saying "what's wrong with you people?! I told you you'll get the money!" It becomes a problem when personal hygiene and sanitation affect public healthy and safety. It's a real shame. This is one of the last Barnes and Noble's still around, and bookstores are a dying breed. I wish they would step up and handle this. I just walked out without buying anything or even unpacking my backpack, it's THAT bad right now. read more

I do apprecite being able to wander through the stacks. There wasn't much in the way of employees to help but perhaps that's reasonable in this economy. What made the trip to the store unpleasant yesterday was the rudeness of the woman at the counter. There was no one in line but she would not let me step up to the counter to pay and would not wait on me until I walked all the long way down to the end of a blocked-off area and all the way back. Aside from the fact that I'm 70 and have a knee injury and an ankle which is hurting, there was no reason for doing this but to bully me. When I had paid, she snarled at me to have a nice day in the rudest tone possible. Conceptually, I like to support local businesses but I'm back to ordering my books on the internet until I forget how unpleasant this was. read more

Great location. It is located at the Lakewood Towne Center. Great hours, large selection (including a great clearance selection) and a coffee shop (I think starbucks) located inside. The kids area is large and fun with a stage for imaginary play. We love the story time on Saturday mornings. The staff is consistently helpful and courteous. read more

This barnes and noble does not accept the Starbucks app at all. So if you want to get your golden stars u cant. They do have bathrooms. Those are by the baby toy section, on the left. This Starbucks does have high baby chairs with straps. There is also good air conditioner here. They also have reading time for kids with a small stage and 2 wooden short but long benches but I don't know the dates for that. There's also a small train table with little trains for play with for kids. There are handicap parking spots right by the door. This is a one level building. read more

So my family stopped by here to get coffee/tea/cupcakes for dessert (after we had dinner) to kill time, and the barista at Starbucks just wasn't doing a good job... Maybe it's because she's alone but also the place is empty. It's 9pm. We ordered coffee and 2 cupcakes but for some reason she gave it to us as to go. Also she did not give my dad half and half in his coffee so my dad asked for it and she gave him a cup of water...? Uhhh ok. I corrected her saying "no he wanted creamer" and she hastily gave us a creamer and hurried away. I think she needs to listen to her customers orders.... Maybe she's new? I don't live here anyways... It's a pretty average B&N, for the most part the employees that I've interacted with have been friendly, although a couple weeks ago I was looking for a book and went to customer service, but the lady there was busy talking and laughing with another employee so I eventually left the store empty-handed. I want to give this B&N Cafe 1 star though. The staff is nice, the line moves slow but they usually only have one person making coffees and she moves as fast as possible, but the reason I want to give it 1 star is the people who go to the cafe. Often most of the tables are taken and only about half of them are being used by people who actually bought things from the cafe. It drives me crazy, if I just spent $12 for coffee and a sandwich then I deserve to be able to sit down and eat and study (there are signs but who listens to those). I think staff should be a little more strict about it. Like the last time I was there these girls who were studying pulled out foot long sandwiches and a bag of chips. I just don't think it's appropriate, the cafe should be for cafe customers and employees need to regulate that, esp when it's busy. read more
