The space is very bland in color and super crowded. Hardly any room to walk in the isle. Staff just talks in another language toward each other and doesn't try to connect with the clients in their chair. Julie nails is a nail salon located off bardstown road in the fern creek portion of Louisville Kentucky. Today my wife and 3 of my 4 daughters went and got there nails done. They were super crowded but handled the crowd pretty decent. They took my two youngest back right away because they were just getting manicures and my wife and oldest had about a 40 min wait to get a full set. These are all foreign terms to me but I'm assuming those reading this review will know that that means. They did pretty good with my kids. They all were pretty excited and very happy with the results. Pricing according to my wife wasn't bad. I wouldn't know what regular pricing is. But for 2 manicures and 2 full sets it cost just over $100. She swears that's about average but seems high to me for them not really doing much. My biggest issue was I feel like the workers here were extremely unprofessional. They answered all the customer phone calls on speaker phone for the whole shop to hear. To me that's is tacky. Also when one customer called and asked if they were open today (it's oaks day here in Louisville and lots of places close for oaks and derby) a worker responded "Well I answered the phone". Which if I was the calling customer they would of gotten cursed and lost my business for sure. One could say it was just in jest, but your a customer based business and it's over a phone so even if it was in jest. It absolutely could get lost in transition. I'm not sure trying to be funny or a jerk (whichever Goal the worker had in mind) is worth losing customers. Overall my girls had a good experience. They love doing this type of stuff. I've been told that pricing wasn't bad and while it seemed like a long wait to me personally I've also been told they handled the crowd well. So while I'm not an expert on nails or nail salons this was my experience so hopefully it is helpful to some. read more

Julie's Nails is an awesome nail salon in Fern Creek. The staff is always very welcoming and friendly. I have been there many times over the years and they always do a great job! They can be very busy so I definitely recommend making an appointment the earlier you can call the better! They do take walk-ins though if you are willing to wait. They also will do designs and copy a photo you may find online. The prices are average and similar to other nail salons around Louisville. read more

I am so disappointed in Julie's nails. I have a wedding coming up and made a 5pm appointment for my daughters to get a pedicure and full set/fill in. We arrived at 4:30pm was only acknowledged by an hi. We signed the paper and sat down as we saw there were two people ahead of us and it wasn't quite 5pm. The two people in front of us were called and then three more older females came in. We patiently waited and her staff serviced 3 other people in front of us without even acknowledging us. My daughters was really looking forward to getting their nails done. This was one of my daughter's first experience and she has been waiting for months for this moment. Julie nails ruined it. I think we were overlooked due to we didn't look like the other clientele. I called and complained. We will be taking our service somewhere else where we are treated fairly. After faithfully going to Julie's Nails for 2 years, today was my last day. Julie, the owner and nail technician whom I have always seen, let me know today that they are charging $5 fora fill without you getting your nails cut down. A fill is $40. In the past I have been charged extra for reshaping a nail, or cutting them shorter, never ever have I been charged EXTRA because my nails grow out and I choose not to get them cut down. .... If you get your nails cut down shorter, according to Julie, you do not need to pay the extra $5. This I have never heard of before today, so I asked her if this policy is new? To which she looks at me puzzled and says "no, it has always been this way". I respond, " I have been coming here for two years and you are the only person who does my nails, I have never had this fee applied or charged to me" Julie's response is , "if you don't like it, you don't have to come back " ...You could imagine my frustration and confusion once I heard her say that... So I gathered my things and left- the price was not what I did not like. WHAT I DID NOT LIKE was Julie's response. As a customer, I WILL have questions and if you response is to tell me "You can so somewhere else" ... fine, ill do that but first i am going to let everyone else know how shitty you handled the situation. Today was my first time at this salon, and I can't say I was disappointed. I came in around 12 as a walk in. I sat for less than 5 minutes before I was called back. I had Julie and she was a pleasure to chat with. I got a basic acrylic set and a basic white polish pedicure. My total was $95 + a $10 tip. I don't think the general service was worth that much but they definitely made up with how detail oriented they were. (And I can understand with how much the cost of their supplies have went up.) I enjoyed my time there and everyone was very friendly. The salon was clean and I was throughly impressed. I will definitely be coming back in the future! This is by far the best nail salon. I have been getting my nails and toes done here for the past 13 years. It is a family owned salon, with mostly family members working here. The women and one gentleman are friendly and talented. If you think something is wrong, they work hard to fix it (like the ungrateful woman than came in, fell asleep in the pedi chair, and 45 minutes later when her feet were done, she woke up, and didn't like the color. She picked the color! Of course they re-did the color; ungrateful person). I usually go in every two weeks, they know my family, as they do with many other regular customers, and inquire how they are doing. I know every time I go in, I am going to relax, and have a lot of laughs, as they are always cheerful and can make the funniest, snarky comments to each other. Then I walk out with pretty hands and feet. If you want to get great mani and pedi, and a laughs along with it, hurry and make an appointment. They do take walk-ins, but you may need to wait a bit. This was my first visit to Julie's Nails by recommendation of my family and I love it there. My toenails honestly needed some TLC, so I got a pedicure and it was so nice! The ladies there are super funny and sweet. The prices are also pretty reasonable. I got a pedicure and paint and it only cost me $31. I'd never gotten a pedicure before, but it was nice and relaxing. They cut, shaped, and buffed my nails, massaged my calves and feet, and painted my toenails. Their sanitation practices are awesome. The tubs they use for the pedicures are lined with disposable plastic, everyone is made to sign waivers when they come in and have their temperatures taken via laser thermometer, everyone is made to wear a mask and wash their hands, and each station is separated with plastic hanging sheets. This ordinarily would not have been an issue except prior to her arrival I heard one of the techs on the phone tell a customer they were taking walk ins only. Very busy salon. Wait time was okay. Went for a manicure/pedicure. The pedicure spa chairs are old, ripped and my massage did not work at all. It was rather uncomfortable. While sitting waiting for my turn I watched the fast paced workers zip along. It reminded me of an assembly line. You start out with one worker, then they send you to the next, and then another if needed. For me it made it difficult to tip properly. I also felt rushed, not relaxed at all. The chatter between the workers was loud and had each person lose focus on the task of my mani/pedi. It took two hours from start to finish for a mani/pedi. At one point I was left with my feet in luke warm water because the person doing my feet got hungry and just left me sitting. I also was disturbed by the fact that when doing my heels, the worker attempted to use a pedicure razor, which are illegal. I told her not to use it. I know I will not go back. read more

Staff is great in there. I had to have 3 different ladies work on fixing my nails that another salon ruined!! They got my nails back to normal.
