Breakfast is included, which probably makes the restaurants downtown unhappy. We used to run into town for breakfast but LSR's are as good or better than anything in town. I almost hate to recommend them because I don't want them full when I want to go (I'll keep those dates a secret). I can see great sunsets in Iowa, but they look more beautiful over Lake Michigan. Saugatuck and Douglas have great shopping and restaurants and are only minutes away. I noticed a few comments (from many years ago) complaining about the beach and the "no kids" policy. Most of the time there is an expansive beach, but lake levels (which change yearly and even daily) can affect the size of the beach. There's a huge deck right on the lake if the beach is small. And the no kids under 13 policy is right on the reservations page, but if you can't read I can see how you might miss it.

First, the location is awesome. Across the street from a Lake Macatawa access (our balcony had a lake view) and down the street from the Holland State Park Lake Michigan Beach (perfect to watch the sun set). We also hiked Mt. Pisgah a couple of days (just down the street too). We stayed in the Newport (sleeps 8, 4 in beds, 4 in sofa beds). We loved the unit from the decor to the multi level layout and fully stocked kitchen. If someone in your party has trouble with stairs I might pick a unit that has an additional first floor kitchen/bar. There is a jet tub in the master bath and a private patio with a grill off the back of the first floor bedroom. There is also an outdoor grill with patio table seating right off the pool deck for entertaining. The salt water pool and hot tub (mostly the hot tub) was my fav, especially after climbing all those stairs at Mt Pisgah. 8 minutes to downtown Holland and 20 minutes to Saugatuck. Just down the street was a kayak and paddle board rental place. Additionally you get privileges at the Macatawa Golf Club which was very nice. It was worth every penny and we hope to go back again!

From the moment we pulled in and drove down the long drive towards the resort, I knew I was in for special evening. It felt like I had awaken in a different age and time. The lodge is over 100 years but beautifully maintained. Eating on the front enclosed porch was a delight and so peaceful to look at beautiful Lake Cora. My mind kept wandering to what this area was like back in the 1920s when there were 2 resorts on Lake Cora and a train that brought people from the Chicago area. What a magical time that must have been. Bob and Susan are delightful hosts. They love Oak Cove and it shows in all the lovingly details throughout. Antiques are plentiful in every room, old photos and newspaper clippings that have been framed are hung on the walls. It's like walking into a time capsule. Touring the Lodge I kept saying this is so cool, I love this, how adorable. Every room is unique and special. Dinner at Oak Cove Resort is amazing. Everything is prepared and cooked in their kitchen and a lot of the items are from scratch. We started the evening off with a salad from the most unique salad bar ever - an old antique bed, covered with a beautiful quilt, and topped with a glass panel that holds all the delicious salad fixings. The lettuce was very fresh, a huge amount of toppings to chose from, and lots of different dressings. Monday night is Roast Beef night and Bob serves up the tenderest roast beef that I have had. The slice was just perfect for me. Mashed potatoes with homemade gravy (no words can describe how delicious this is), and helping of peas, and dinner roll. You can also add a dollop or two of horseradish sauce. If that wasn't enough, dessert was a chocolate brownie with ice cream. I literally thought I was in heaven. On top of that the coffee was just how I like it. We then walked around the resort. The Funhouse, filled with old arcade machines, books, puzzles, card table, TV, and bar, would definitely be fun place to hang out. The in-ground pool was very clean and is a big. The beach area had Adirondack chairs set up to sit and relax. Individual cabins are scattered through the grounds, along with a huge area for kids to run and play. What a memorable evening. My next to-do is to book an evening or two at the Oak Cove and transport myself to another time where life seemed slower and simpler.

(A sure sign that my daughter had acclimated to hostels was her non-chalant reply to my announcement that this place came with a pool..."Is it a blow up pool?" Nope! No beer-guzzling boyman-filled blow up pool this time...but, an "exotic lagoon-shaped pool" complete with a hammock on which I owned for at least 3 hours of our stay here!) Serendipity Resort is a clustering of cottages just a couple blocks off "Main Street, USA". We stayed in Suite L5 in the Lillie House, a quaint three-story grey and white clapboard house. We were warmly welcomed by the owner and a her happy college student crew. After we lugged our way-too-heavy bags up two levels of creaky wooden stairs to the top floor, we ducked into our room. My smile instantly disappeared...I was disappointed. Why must we only stay two nights here??? It felt like we had just climbed into a boat...(except, thank God, it wasn't moving). Every vertical wall and slanted ceiling was lined with richly stained wood planks. It was adorable! Compact, but loaded with charm...in addition to two twin beds, a TV, a quiet reading (or napping) nook, a tiny updated bathroom, and a functional boat-sized kitchen. The staff here was so friendly, they helped me do laundry and didn't charge me a penny. Definitely the place to come for old fashioned small town charm. All for a very reasonable price. Other than our short stay, I was only disappointed we never saw Opie.

As a queer woman, I just wish it had felt like I was represented too, but it's okay cause not every space is for me! I also don't know if it's the norm, but the bar was pretty empty for a Saturday night which just didn't give the vibe for dancing I was hoping for. All the staff were so kind and helpful. Everyone there knew English and were super friendly so don't be discouraged if you aren't Polish. There were a ton of families that were staying here in the end of July when we were here. I thought it was awesome that everyone around us stayed up super late sitting around the campfires singing, cooking, and drinking. My husband and I stayed in an A frame cabin which was adorable and had a big private fire pit with chairs all around it. Only draw back was it didn't have any AC. We got lucky and the nights were cool. My in-laws stayed in on of the large pines and they had an AC unit. At $75 a night you can't go wrong. I am definitely planning on coming back here again with a big group of friends next spring.

We have a travel trailer and the site was perfect. The tent sites are probably the best I have ever seen around especially the ones out in the wooded areas. So much shade. They have rv sites with electric and water, some with full hook up, tent sites, bunk house, and cabins. Something for every camper. We stayed over the 4th of July weekend. The campground had plenty of entertainment and activities. The pool is nice. It does get packed. The camp store has a lot of items including beer. They even deliver wood to your site. Plenty of bathrooms with private and gang showers. The food truck has good food but it does take some time for them to get the food done. This is definitely an opportunity for improvement. We waited an hour once and about 40 minutes another time. We absolutely will go back to Campit. They have such a welcoming and relaxing environment.

Rob was amazing. He reached out to me to confirm my arrival time and checked in on me from time to time via text. The motel is quaint and peaceful. Located only a few minutes from downtown Douglas and Sagatauck, a perfect and relaxing, clean, pleasant place to stay. A few things to keep in mind, it is on eastern time zone, that's important if you're driving from the central time zone! Rob was gracious when I was running late to check in. A great place to relax and unwind after a busy day of play, shopping, or in my case working. Lounge by the amazing pool or gather with friends and family at the fire pit, or take a nap in the hammocks! If you're a golfer, it's only a few minutes from The Ravines, an Arnold Palmer designed golf course. I am looking forward to visiting again!
