My mother needed to get new flooring for her bedroom. The other day, we stopped by this location and dealt with the salesman, Rob. Rob was friendly and forthcoming in explaining the process and the best flooring for my mom's bedroom. I have nothing but positive things to say about Rob and how he treated us and handled business. He gave us a good deal on new flooring, and we set the start date. However, I do have some negative things to say, but they are towards the workmen who came to do the flooring construction. We were told that the workmen would be out of our house by 10 AM, but they showed up an hour earlier. We were in the process of putting up the dogs so they wouldn't be in the way, but because they got here early when one of them got out! One of the workmen did not close the front door properly, and one of the dogs we were trying to corral into a bedroom slipped out and ran out the cracked front door. My mom screamed at one of them to grab the dog because she was sniffing one of the workmen's pant legs. The workmen just stared at her and did not attempt to capture the dog. Our shiba inu ran down the neighborhood leaving me, my mother, my sister, and some fellow neighbors to deal with trying to catch the dog. It actually pissed me off because they seemed to show a lack of empathy. I actually said, "That was my sister's dog" and they decided to stare up into the clouds as if they had just spotted the most interesting cloud to look at. Thankfully, we caught my sister's dog and then they proceeded to go inside the house to begin deconstruction. The construction part went fast. They started by 10:20 and were basically done by 12:00 except apparently they were missing some sort of piece for the baseboards. The one worker who was left behind to do the work had to text his co-workers for them to bring a piece. It ended up being around 4:00 PM by the time the whole thing was done. The day was long but the floors look really good. The only thing I did not appreciate was the lack of communication for arrival time, finishing time, etc. read more

I made my appointment about 2 weeks ago, Demetrius was professional and very helpful. Going through the installation of the PVC waterproof flooring as I type this... Pics and updates to come. The job is complete 11,000 square feet (master bedroom, master bath, living room, kitchen and 2 halls), but not without any issues... This is the breakdown of my experience, Demetrius did his job on the sale, Dolphin Carpet and Tile sent out their install team and this is where it went completely unexpected. Nothing was covered up or sealed off before they started chipping away at the tile, I contacted Demetrius and he communicated my concerns to the installers. The next day they came to cover my leather sofas, treadmill and appliances that were previously covered in silica dust and pieces of tile. The individual removing the tile would stop chipping tile to scream "Yooooooo" everytime he saw me enter the room. Then continue to blast tile away while I am still in the room with no concern for me or my property. Once they removed the tile from a portion of my house they had to stop working because not only was the tile removed, it appears that they seal was removed near my rear doors allowing the rain to enter the house from the sliding doors. The installers stated that they didn't want to continue with the job till the water was resolved. They requested a few days to come back out after the leak was fixed. I packed up and went to a hotel on last minute notice for 2 days because my bedroom was not ready for me to clean or return my furniture to. I had to hire my own repair man to patch and repair the area to ensure no further damage and improved my gutters to prevent any water from dripping in that area. During this time I reached out to Demetrius, who came out to express my concerns and was contacted by the manager via phone and told that they would "talk to the installers" and he was sorry for the inconveniences. This is not acceptable and unfortunately won't happen to anyone else that does business with Dolphin Carpet and Tile. Bill paid, flooring laid and very inconvenienced in the process. read more

I really needed to get flooring so my daughter, who works at home, could use a room besides her bedroom to work. I wanted vinyl as my diabetic dog has a bladder issue and I needed something that would be 'waterproof' and good for the animals. I also wanted to get something that didn't look like wood. I just don't like the wood look. I like the look of tile or marble. I checked out 4 places. Dolphin, specifically, Rob listened, showed me choices (more than 1 or 2) and gave me an estimate right then. I told him about the other places and prices and he beat everyone's price. He said it could be done by the end of the month, and the whole thing would take 3-4 days. He was right. The stuff came in on the 26th and they were done on the 31st. 2400 square feet. The installers were incredible. They ripped out the Carpet and put in plywood rather than cork as it doesn't shift and cause breakage where the tiles click together. We bought Asia white tiles from them. I specifically asked the guy if all these tile come in real flat because I wanted to do zero grout line. The manager said yes. Even went with the guy they recommended to install them. The installer picked up the tiles and installed only to find out they weren't flat. Now the tiles are installed and not all of the tiles line up. Don't trust the salesperson or their recommended installers. Shop elsewhere please! read more

I especially appreciate the excellent customer service from Rob Apakian, he sold the tile to me and was our contact throughout the installation. First time shopping for carpet, Edward Lenox did a tremendous job helping me look and find the right kind. He was friendly and very helpful.

Last summer I re-tiled 3 main areas, kitchen backsplash, and two bathrooms in my home. I feel I received a good value on the porcelain floor tiles, and I know I got a great deal on a decorative mosaic inlay for the foyer they had on sale. The guys that removed the existing floor tiles (total demolition) did a good job. It took a couple days to remove and they were clean and thorough. The guys that installed the floor tiles were also very good. I was told that both demo crew and floor installation crew worked directly for this store. If I only had floor tiles installed, I would give them 4 stars. So why the two stars?? The company they hired for the bathrooms (shower, wall, floor) and kitchen backsplash were awful. I could list all the problems and aesthetic issues, but it's just too long. Just find your own contractor for bathrooms and kitchen, and use Dolphin for flooring only, but don't expect any customer service after the job is done. I recently contacted this store manager about a problem that just popped up now due to a shoddy install by the company they used for the bathroom, and he has yet to call me back as promised. read more

My experience buying vinyl at the store was good. I ordered it and it came in a few days. I had it delivered to my house without any problems. Before the vinyl was laid I was told that I should lay a moisturizer barrier/block before the vinyl was laid. I went back to the store and I was sold a moisturizer block that was not the right one to use. I called back the store to try to return it, since it was over $600.00, but was told that I could not return it. This is very disappointing that I was sold the wrong one for my use. After spending over $5,000.00 on my vinyl flooring I think more consideration should have been given to this problem. read more

My wife and I just purchased a Condo in Pembroke Pines. We contacted Dolphin Carpet from our home in Chicago by Phone and had a conversation with Hank the manager. I explained we would be doing this from our home in Chicago and I wanted to work with a reputable local company to replace our tile and carpet. Hank told me this job was what they do. In the time span of two months I contacted Hank and he was helpful and accommodating, my gut feeling before meeting Hank was that Dolphin carpet was going to be the correct choice. When we arrived in town we set up a meeting to meet Hank, to pick out products at the Pembroke showroom, my wife and I felt very comfortable reviewing with Hank from there stock tile and carpet, they had exactly what we wanted. We arranged deposits and scheduling the work. I was nervous living out of town and not having the time or being on site to meet the installers, I thought it would be difficult to have it come together. Hank told me he would visit the project while they were installing and he and let me know by phone all was going well. Once Hank told me the project was completed, Hank had my confidence, I signed off on the installation and I had not seen it yet, I was out of town. My wife and I did get down to review the past week the work and I can say that we are both completely satisfied with the materiel and installation. We personally stopped in to the showroom to Thank Hank and his team. I felt that the Dolphin family of stores is well represented by Hank and his team. The installers did exactly what we wanted. The job is Perfect, I would highly recommend them for tile and carpet. I am a professional Builder 38 years in Chicago and have been treated with the best customer care by Hank and Dolphin Carpet. Re: Discriminating Actions by Mr. Rob Apakian Dear Sir, Having receive a flyer in the mail, on Friday August 31st, 2018, I decided to visit Dolphin Carpet and Tile located at 172 N. University Dr, Pembroke Pines, FL 33024. Upon entering the store, I was greeted my Rob Apakian the store manager. I explained to Rob that I was interested in doing my floors at home with the luxury vinyl planks and I would love to see the designs. He proceeded to show me multiple samples of which I narrowed down to three. Having decided on the samples, I then asked him if I could take the samples home, to see how they looked with my home décor and lighting. Rob was quick to advise me that the big samples I was interested in (measuring about 2.5L x1.5w -rough estimate) could not leave the store. However, he would be happy to show me a much smaller sample similar in grain and color, and I should return them to the store later. He went on further to advise me that I could take a picture of the larger sample- which I did. I complied with his request and left the store with the three postcard size samples to try in my home. At around 7pm, I pulled up to the front of the store to return same samples. Inside the store was Rob and a Caucasian female customer, obviously she too was interested in purchasing flooring as they had about three samples on the floor. Upon approaching the door, he told me to have a seat, he'll be right back and proceeded to assist the customer to her car, she with one large store sample in hand, and he with two other large samples in his. To add to my insult, I overheard him telling the customer, that she could return the samples on Monday of the following week. His exact words "give you time to wake up and look at them for a few days, then you can decide". Iwas shocked and appalled all at once. I had to assume he did not remember that I was there earlier in the day. Upon his return inside the store and realizing that I brought back the samples, he proceeded to tell me, "oh it's you, I'm sorry, I know what you must be thinking, but she has a deposit, so she could take home the big samples". I could not believe what I was either hearing or seeing, all I remembered saying was "why did you tell me I had to bring back the three small samples today, but you just helped the white customer to her car and offered her a whole weekend with much bigger samples, you claimed earlier could not leave the store". He further alluded to the fact that sometimes "people" tend to forget that they have the big samples". So, in just meeting me for the first time, Rob has already prejudged my actions and classified me as one of the "people" who would not return his store samples. Is that the proper way for a manager to deal with the public and a first-time potential customer? And am I to believe that white people do not steal things? By this time, he was not making much sense with his justification. I left the store and several minutes later, I received a call from Mr. Apakian attempting to offer me an apology for his actions and a further discount on my $7200.00 bill. I accepted neither of the two. As an African American woman, a mother, an immigrant, educated, a moral upstanding citizen of this country and a registered nurse, there has never been a patient or anyone for that matter that I believe, should be given preferential treatment over another. I have lived in South Florida for over 18 years now, and there has never been a time until now that I felt so discriminated and humiliated against. I do not partake in racist actions nor do I choose to be guided by prejudice. Having experience such blatant disrespect as a potential customer, I will endeavor to shed some light on this sub-standard, double standard of a treatment I received from him at Dolphin Carpet and Tile. I do not wish to accept Mr. Apakian's apology, nor would I encourage none of my colleagues, family or associates to do business with Dolphin Carpet and Tile at this location. However, what I do wish is that his superiors provide additional training to managers like Mr Apakian on ways in which he can address his biases and discriminatory behaviors. Our country is already in a divisive mode and tone, we need not add to it at this level. BAD experience. The installers told me the baseboards needed replacing and I had to pay an additional $500 to them at the time of installation.... after repeatedly asking the salesman about them when negotiating the deal. I even showed him pictures of the existing baseboards to be sure we were on the same page! Then I got an email from DC&T website thanking me for my wonderful online review of my salesperson and transaction, AND I NEVER WROTE AN ONLINE REVIEW! The salesman obviously wrote his own review. Total fraud on the part of the salesman. After all was said and done I did complain to the company online. The manager of the store called me a week later and gave me a credit of $50. What a horrible experience. Their customer service is severely lacking. We had carpet installed and one room had a very visible seam. I specifically asked about a seam and was promised that we wouldn't see it. Well we saw it. They came to look and said they would get back to us. Nothing. We called repeatedly with promises to get back to me. Never a return call. Finally, we reached the district manager who was respectful but said a seam is to be expected. He didn't know why we were told we wouldn't see it. After weeks of nothing, I called again and he came to see it. Apologized for what the salesman said, but said there was nothing they could do. When he was here I also showed him spots where the carpet that was installed 2 months ago was coming up. He said the installer would call to set up a time to come back and fix it. Needless to say, almost 3 weeks later and I am still waiting for the call. I am amazed at the horrible customer service. Beware. read more

Dolphin carpet & tile is horrible. First my schedule date wasn't honored!!! Then on the appointment date they don't do the install without complete payment cool I had that. Now I've paid they start removing old carpet, one of the installer says he doesn't see the hallway only the bedrooms and stairs. Don't worry I'm take care of it he says. Me who does the bedroom and stairs and not the hallway!!! Now in the middle of the installation the man ask for my receipt he doesn't see the master bedroom ‍ excuse me it says so on my receipt. Now 8 hours later he says ms. Miller in my head my name is actually Ms. Mcclan I let it slide, I have to show you something I can't finish your closet or the landing of the stairs. Why because they didn't order enough carpet. Y'all got me fucked up!!! Call the store where I made the purchase the sales rep is off so who is on the office is of very little help I think it's Mr. Rosen whatever his Damm name is see all of the items on the order hallway stairs 3 bedrooms why the f*** I don't have enough carpet unprofessional!!!!! Never again! My time is valuable and this is unacceptable!!! I can't keep switching my days off for foolishness!!! I will keep posting until this is rectified along with some kind of compensation!!! read more

So far this has been a disaster STAY AWAY FROM DEMETRIUS ! Everything he has said so far has been a LIE! Was told my job would start on Monday 8/13 was called Sunday night 8/12 that they need an extra day to finish another job n start mine no problem. Was the. Called 8/13 that my tile wasn't in for the living room it was back ordered it would be available till September 1st so much for a 5 day job . So I was told 8/14 my bedrooms would be tiled with the would floor tile we picked out. Was told by Demetrius that installers would be at my home by 8 so I wouldn't have to miss work. Installers didn't show up till 11. They ripped out old bedroom floor quick said they would go get the tile I was like great! Guess what installers came back n said there was no tile ! Call d Demetrius he said there's title but installers said there is no title so they said it will in tomorrow . I'll bet anything the tile won't be in tomorrow. Demetrius is deff a liar. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I installed 3 bedrooms of carpet and start to finish they were dishonest and arrogant about their mistakes. I was moving and ordered carpet a month in advance and was told it was back ordered a month later the day before scheduled install. The installers they use are sub par and they do not care about customer satisfaction or their finished product. The installers installed same carpet in two different directions in side by side rooms. Also communication barrier. This company caused me tremendous frustration, time and money. The worst part is the really couldn't care less about their customers and you won't be happy with end product. read more
