I would never recommend this business to anyone. I hired the…read moreowner, Matt Sachs, to liquidate my mom's house after she developed Alzheimer's and had to move out of her home urgently, which she lived in for about 20 years. She had accumulated a good amount of quality pieces/antiques, furniture, rugs, etc. Matt was very personable, trustworthy, I really liked him and felt good about the contract in the beginning. Things were good for months, but eventually, when I started to ask for updates and accounting paperwork, he vanished. I tried to give him some grace, knowing his job is demanding and he's also a Dad, but he kept putting me off telling me he had to "speak to some people" about pieces to see where they ended up. One time he admittedly told me that my account was "closed out accidentally," but would re-open it and follow-up. The entire business deal got very sketchy toward the end, and to this day, I never heard from him again and I never got a final accounting for my mom's belongings. On top of the stress of becoming my mother's caretaker and conservator, and dealing with her illness and loss of independence, I had to carry the stress of chasing this guy down for what was owed to my Mom. I even went to a lawyer, and we sent out response requests with a strong fist, but Matt was radio silent, as expected. We also found out this was not the first time he had litigation against him (not a shock.) I could have pursued this further and placed a lien on his house, but I decided not to go ahead with this. Maybe I'm too nice... Maybe I just wanted the stress to go away, and didn't want to lose more money in the process. Either way you look at it, I'm not sure how someone like this sleeps at night. Very upsetting. The real estate agent who recommended him to me was mortified and will never recommend him again. Whatever his reason was, the very least he could've done was be honest. He could've told me he lost items. I'm an understanding person, but he went about this very unprofessionally and I still think about this all the time. Most people can never act like this in their place of work and get away with it. Since I didn't push ahead with a lawsuit, I feel the very least I can do is warn other people so they don't end up in the same place. I'm also not the first one, and unfortunately, I am sure I won't be the last.

Do not hire Matt Sachs. Much like the other review I am finding here, he started out OK,…read moredisappeared for a couple of weeks in the middle of cleaning out the house, came back and did a good job on the clean-out, but then disappeared, having taken a house full of property he was to have sent to auction and pay me a percentage of the proceeds. He just disappeared into the ether, refused to answer calls or email messages. Ultimately, he is dishonest. Do not trust his references, I called the professionals he listed and they were mortified to learn that he uses their names as references.

******WARING*****WARNING*******WARNING******* THIS IS THE…read moreACTUAL MESSAGE I SENT TO THIS COMPANY. I AM POSTING THE HONEST TRUTH. PLEASE READ SO YOU CAN KNOW THE PRACTICES OF THIS COMPANY AND THEIR VENDORS. THIS IS THE ONLY RECOURSE PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF HAVE WHEN TREATED UNFAIRLY.*********** Hello. I received my item in as described condition. Thank you for being accurate and answering my questions prior to bidding. However I do have a complaint in regards to shipping. First off I do a lot of shipping myself and have a UPS account so I was able to reverse the shipping destination and calculate the actual shipping fee for myself. When I originally spoke to the UPS provided in your shipping information, I spoke with a man and let him know I was looking for a shipping quote and was referred by Kabe auctions. I gave him the lot number and described the item and dimensions that you gave me in prior message. Glass candy bowl 4x4.5 inches that weighed 3 pounds. I also gave him my zip code and suggestion of using a 10x10x10 inch box to ship it in. He agreed that would be a good size box to safely ship this item. He then quoted my 37 dollars for pick up, materials, and shipping fee through UPS. I though to myself that was reasonable so I gave permission to use them. After a few days, I contacted the UPS store and was told the total was now 82.00 dollars. I said that was a big difference from the original quote of 37 dollars. He then took a moment to double check the price and realized the item was less than 100 dollars so there was no insurance needed. The final cost I paid was 79 dollars. At this point, I felt like he had me over a barrel because the item was paid for, packaged and ready to ship, and in their possession. I also do not like to argue over money. I am too old for that type of thing so I went ahead and paid. I received the item and it was shipped in 3 boxes. Triple boxed. I did not request 3 boxes. I asked for a single 10x10x10 box with bubble wrap and foam peanuts. The exterior box dimension ended up being 12x12x12 weighing about 4 pounds. I also happened to know the reason it was shipped in 3 boxes. They use the extra packaging materials to justify the inflated price they ultimately charge the customer. No explanation was really given to me on why such a big difference from 37 to 79 dollars to ship such a small item and I did not receive a detailed receipt breaking down the shipping charge. I did a reverse shipping label purchase to see what the actual shipping cost would be. I entered your address with a box dimension of 12x12x12 weighing 4 pounds. It came up to be 25.34. So I was basically charged 54 dollars for the materials and labor. I understand a business wanting to make a profit. I really do. I get it. My problem is The difference from the original quote of 37 to actual fee of 79 knowing it cost 25 to actually ship. I feel like a victim. I feel like I was bamboozled. That is not good feeling. That is not good business. To tell someone one thing then not even coming close to living up to your word. I understand their may have been a difference from the original quote to the final cost but really? That much? At this point it is not about the money but the principle. As a customer, I do not have any recourse in this situation other than to log my complaint to you and take this experience to whatever forum that allows folks like me to vent their frustration. Maybe if more people like myself warned other people of this kind of behavior, that something will be done to prevent this from happening. I really do have time to be messaging and posting my bad experiences with companies and their bad business practices but in this particular situation, I feel compelled to warn other people that this king of behavior exists and is attached to your company. I do not blame Kabe directly but just like anything else, Kabe should be aware of what their vendors are doing to their customers. Like poor management. If you do not know how your vendor is treating people then shame on you. I suggest that you not use that vendor anymore. This was not an innocent mistake. This was a calculated strategy to extract as much money possible from me. It is very obvious. You should also follow the lead of the more established auction companies and focus on transparency. Another suggestion is to put the shipping cost in the item description so the bidder knows exactly what they are paying. No surprises and no complaint or warning postings on social media. Anyone with a grain of intelligence can easily figure out how to do that.
