    Chicken enchiladas
    Kristen E.

I was stopping in San Antonio on my way to the Hill Country and wanted a place on the Riverwalk for a late lunch on a Saturday where I could work on my laptop with a margarita. A friend recommended the Canopy Hotel's restaurant, so I took a Lyft into the center of town from the airport. The Domingo was able to seat me immediately without a reservation. But I had to sit inside instead of enjoying the Riverwalk due to pouring rain, and you needed a room to use the wifi. So I treated myself to a late lunch of creamy enchiladas and said drink, and the waitstaff kindly let me curl up with a book in a corner until my ride came a couple hours later. The food was good and filling without being too much. Can recommend, and I bet it's even nicer in good weather to sit outside near the water and people watch.

The restaurant is on the river walk, and right under a hotel, so it's very accessible. The restaurant itself leans more towards a modern experience. Electronic dance music pulsed quietly in the background. The toilets were all individual unisex stalls that were classy, mine had run out of hand towels. Also, the entire restaurant is very dimly lit. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu, but I have poor eyesight so there's that, but it might explain the quality of the photos I took. The Paloma drink was amazing. It had a great spicy zing in the back of the throat after every sip. Queso was... kinda plain. It might have been better with the add chorizo option. It was very thick. Shrimp cocktail was big, but we started fighting over the shrimp pieces. There was plenty of onion and tomato left over after the batttle. Pollo Asado was a great flavor and the chicken was juicy. Grilled squash that was on the side was good. Chicken enchiladas were good and had freshly sliced jalapeños, which is always a welcome detail. I wasn't able to taste the quesadilla but my daoughter said it was "really good". Fried Chicken sandwich had a great flavor and the bacon was actually pork belly if I'm not mistaken. Sadly there was more batter than chicken. The seasoned fries were delicious and crispy.

Great outdoor sitting in the heart of the river walk... wait was long .. it was nice to be there on a warm evening.

Excellent first visit. Beautiful view, great service, tasty food. A must try at the Riverwalk.

This is one of my favorite spots on the Riverwalk! I've been here for both brunch and dinner and the meals have been quite fantastic both times. First off, this place gets really busy and I had a reservation both times. So I really do think you need to have one because this place is always busy. For brunch. I got an incredible agua fresca. It was like coconut and lime flavored. Extremely refreshing. I also got the chicken crispy chicken for brunch and it was absolutely incredible. It had all the nice flavors and textures that I usually look for in a dish and the portion size was perfect about. For dinner I got the fish tacos which are also very good. The portion size with fish tacos weren't as big but it was filling. Either way maybe get some appetizers to supplement Overall highly recommend sitting outside to get the nice atmosphere right off the river walk. Really high ceilings, modern upscale vibe. Really good service all around. I will definitely be coming back if I am in San Antonio

Krizjon did a fantastic job serving our work group. Fun vibes, nice environment, great food.

Located on the Riverwalk, Domingo offers inside and outside seating. They have tents with clear sides up for winter time outdoor seating. Had a customer dinner planned and they tried to seat us inside, but it was very loud, we asked for something outside and they were able to accommodate us after a short wait. Service was good. Food was fantastic. We tried several apps, the guac and elote dip were really good. I had the flat iron steak, it came with a cheese stuffed pepper that was amazing, and roasted crispy potato wedges. The steak was, tender, flavorful and topped with chimichurri sauce. The rest of the group tried enchiladas, tacos and a ribeye, everyone liked their meal. We shared a couple orders of churros for dessert. They were amazing! Served with caramel and chocolate dipping sauces.

Probably the best restaurant on the river. High end, great views and amazing food and service.

Get the enchiladas!! They are not spicy at all, just a few jalapeño slices on top. Very flavorful and great portion size. The cochinita pibil was okay in flavor however was a really small serving size, served with three corn tortillas. Maybe with another side it would have been okay but disappointed as is. Such a cute spot on the riverwalk both indoor and outdoor seating. Just wish we enjoyed the experience more.

We had lunch at Domingo right when we arrived in San Antonio because of a recommendation from our hotel. We were not impressed at all, service was not good and the food was mediocre. The only thing they have going for them is that they are located on the Riverwalk. We would not go back again.

I was recommended this place by multiple people and my uber driver, so I had to try it. Make a reservation otherwise you'll be waiting a while. I sat at the bar since the wait was over an hour during Sunday lunch. I ordered the Chips & Guac and Poblano Burger. The guac was super fresh and you get chunks of actual guac. The poblano burger was full of bold flavors and juicy. I was really impressed with both items, and other dishes looked just as good. Will have to be come back and try more dishes!

Delicious fish tacos in a relaxing environment. I visited San Antonio for work, Domingo was close to my hotel along the Riverwalk. Food was excellent and my waiter was fantastic. Highly recommended.

We came here for a last minute reservation and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. There is outside seating as well as indoor seating and the atmosphere is very nice. The bathrooms are also very private and clean. We ordered the hatch queso, guacamole, and cornbread to start. The queso dip was by far the best thing we had and the other appetizers were good as well. We ordered the flat iron steak and the Baja fish tacos which were alright. The steak was overcooked and the fish tacos were underwhelming. That being said, the other dishes looked good and the drinks and service were great. Overall, a pleasant experience on the river walk!

The Modernist -- A True Speakeasy Experience in San Antonio…read more If you're in downtown San Antonio, take a break from the River Walk and check out The Modernist. This is a true speakeasy-style lounge that's easy to overlook from the outside--it looks like a regular, unassuming place. But once you step inside, the atmosphere completely changes. The interior is cozy, intimate, and has that hidden-gem feeling you want from a speakeasy. The staff members are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I had the pleasure of having Adan behind the bar, and this guy knows how to make a good drink! As always, I started with my go-to Old Fashioned. I have to say, it was easily one of my top two Old Fashioneds I've ever had. Then I told Adan to surprise me, and he came up with some kind of peanut butter chocolate martini. Let me just say... it was a true pleasure. Rich, smooth, and absolutely delicious. What I really liked about The Modernist is that it feels like a place the locals actually frequent rather than just another tourist spot. I genuinely had a great time here. If you're visiting San Antonio and find yourself downtown, give The Modernist a try. Step away from the River Walk for a little while--you might just discover your new favorite spot.

For her second drink, she told the bartender to surprise her. He gave her a look and asked more than once if she was sure she wanted him to surprise her. Instead of making her an actual cocktail, he poured her what seemed to be a straight, extremely bitter liqueur. The whole interaction felt sarcastic and like he was intentionally messing with her rather than trying to make her something she would enjoy. What bothered me most was the attitude behind it. We weren't being rude, demanding, or causing problems. We were there to have a good time and experience the whole "tell us what you like and we'll make you something" concept. I did call the number listed for the business afterward trying to speak to someone about it. The person who answered said I had the wrong number and didn't know what I was talking about. I got angry during that call and said some things I shouldn't have, and I can admit that. But that doesn't change how disappointing the experience at the bar was. We expected a creative and welcoming experience and instead left feeling like my wife had been mocked. I hope management sees this and addresses it, because the concept of the place is great, but the way we were treated completely ruined it for us

Despite the staff shortage, we placed a significant order for at least ten drinks. My husband had made a reservation for 6:00 PM. However, at approximately 7:30 PM, after we had already placed our drink order, a staff member informed my husband that our table reservation was only valid for two hours. Concerned about the impending two-hour limit and the delay in receiving our drinks, which had still not arrived by 7:45 PM, we inquired with our bartender about potentially canceling our order. He reassured us, stating that other tables were available should additional patrons arrive. Our subsequent visit, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, was solely with my husband. We arrived punctually, approximately five minutes before our 7:30 PM reservation. A female bartender directed us to a small, two-person table, despite the presence of two larger, seemingly more comfortable, unoccupied tables nearby. While initially assuming these larger tables might be reserved for a bigger party, the selection felt somewhat restrictive given the availability. Our seating unfortunately placed us adjacent to another patron who was using an additional chair to prop up her footwear, which contributed to an unpleasant atmosphere. The bartender then approached our table and asked if it was our first time, to which we replied it was not. She then asked if we knew what we wanted to order. We requested a brief moment to review the menu. However, we then waited for approximately fifteen minutes for her to return. Eventually, my husband had to actively call her over to place our order. Our initial drinks arrived after another ten to fifteen minutes. Subsequently, my husband attempted to catch the bartender's attention to order another round and request water. However, she was engaged in a lengthy conversation, estimated at ten minutes, with the neighboring patron and proceeded to walk past our table without acknowledging us. This extended period of being overlooked led to considerable frustration for my husband, who then felt compelled to approach the main bar directly to place our order and obtain water from a different bartender. It was only after this that the initial female bartender finally approached our table, asking if we needed anything. Considering the relatively small size of the establishment and the fact that there were only three occupied tables at the time, the level of inattentive and delayed service was particularly disappointing and, frankly, perplexing.

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks.
