5/5 Really enjoyed Mezquite! It's located inside Pullman Market in a great atmosphere that's perfect for grabbing a meal while exploring the market. The food was outstanding and surprisingly affordable. The fresh, homemade tortillas were a highlight, and my entrée came with a variety of delicious sides that made the meal feel like an incredible value. The quesadilla was so good we started eating it before I could even get a picture! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I stopped in recently for the first time for a dinner with a friend to catch up. Honestly I didn't know too much about the spot before we went in but our server did a great job of explaining how the menu pays homage to the Sonoran region while using fresh, local Texas ingredients. It was also my friend's first time and since there were so many different yummy sounding dishes on the menu we decided to do the Norteno Menu - which essentially was where the chef selects multiple courses for you and the dinner essentially becomes a surprise of "What delicious thing comes next?" Our dinner ended up consisting of: Aguachile Verde, Guacamole, Roasted mole beets, the pollo served in a rojo sauce, and a sweet end with a Tres Leches cake. Every dish was unique and consisted of an explosion of flavors. The chicken was soooo good - especially when you paired it with one of the fresh and absolutely delicious tortillas they bring to the table. Such a great dining experience and ambiance. We did the Norteno Menu for $55 per person where the chef chooses for us. We got the Shrimp "Cocktail" ceviche (shrimp, fermented tomato, chili oil, avocado, cucumber) to start served with tostadas and fresh salsa verde, which was served generously in a squeeze bottle that stayed at the table. The tostadas were thick and crispy, just like you want your chips to be, especially good for scooping up the ceviche dish. I loved this interpretation of ceviche and the funky cocktail sauce flavors. I just found this review in my drafts from October 2025, and while I don't remember every course in detail to do it justice, I remember everything being so great. I remember that we were also really impressed by the frijoles rancheros with chorizo and chile ash! It was our favorite side. I'm in San Antonio for a quick work trip and found Mezquite, so I had to give it a try. Located inside Pullman Market, this Michelin Bib Gourmand spot is known for its authentic Sonoran flavors, and it definitely lives up to the hype. Everything is made with fresh Texas ingredients, and you can taste the quality in every bite. The house made Sonoran wheat tortillas with beef tallow are worth stopping in for all by themselves. We started with the Ceviche Negro and Aguachile Verde. The yellowfin tuna was incredibly fresh, and the ceviche brought a nice kick of heat balanced with the charred fruit, cucumber, and peanut. The aguachile was bright, refreshing, and the perfect contrast to the ceviche. The Caramelo was another favorite. Carne asada, Oaxaca cheese, and salsa verde wrapped in one of those amazing tortillas. It's basically an elevated quesadilla, and I'd definitely order it again. For the main course, we shared the wood fired swordfish. It was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of char and served with salsa verde, rice, grilled onions, cabbage salad, and rajas con suero. Simple, fresh, and packed with flavor. I paired it all with the Carabuena Old Fashioned, and it was a great match for the meal. Service was great, the atmosphere was fun and every dish was exceptional, there wasn't a single miss. I had quite a fun time coming here. The shrimp ceviche was fantastic. Had spice and loved the tortilla chips. The tortillas came with this amazing, warm, sweet butter. The tres leches was great with a sweet and sour topping. There was also a hummus and roasted mushroom dip my coworkers said was their favorite. Beautiful restaurant and bar with an incredible atmosphere. This place is truly a marvel, it feels like you're dining at a chic restaurant in Mexico City, tucked away inside Pullman Market. The appetizers, entrées, and desserts are all delicious, but my favorite part is the bar. It looks as though it was carved out of clay and serves some of the most impressive cocktails in the city. Their extensive selection of mezcals and tequilas stays true to the restaurant's authentic concept and commitment to quality. What a great find at the Pearl- it's in the Pullman market at the back. I have been in the market a few times to peruse and never noticed it - what a great find. We sat in the main restaurant and our server Tanya was very knowledgeable and helpful with her recommendations. It was just myself and my partner and we decided to get the Norteno (chef choices for dishes) soooo good! Not huge servings but good servings. We were really happy. I was suspect because the chef had pork chop on the choice - and only one place - to me - make good pork chops but Mesquite did a phenomenal job it came on a bed of this delicious chipotle sauce- Chefs kiss! *Restaurant Week 2026 Lunch Experience* BLUF: Great food, fair value, rushed service. Restaurant Week Lunch is at Mezcalaria, their cantina, NOT Mezquite. The food was delicious, as I've come to expect from all of the Pullman Market dining options. The $25 per guest pre fixe offerings all begin with guacamole, paired with tostadas. The guac was fresh tasting, and paired well with the warm tostadas. For our entrees, we opted for the Carnitas and Barbacoa Tacos. The carnitas were adorned with onion, radish, cilantro, and queso fresco. They tasted great on their own, but even better with the addition of the salsa rojo and salsa verde provided. The barbacoa were adorned with guacamole, onion, and cilantro. The guacamole felt redundant given it was the same as the lone pre fixe appetizer option. To finish, a delicious piece of tres leches cake, dusted with cinnamon. Its taste was more reminiscent of horchata than other tres leches I've sampled, but delicious all the same. A lot of ambient construction type noises during our visit, seems like something you'd do earlier in the morning, later at night, or opt out of restaurant week for. Service felt lackluster and a bit rushed. We had a reservation, but there was no need. At 12pm on a Tuesday there was ample open seating at the bar and the tables within the cantina area. They ask for a payment card up front, which seemed tacky for table service in the cantina area, a practice I'm familiar with at bars and breweries, but not at places marketing themselves during restaurant week. Also, our dessert was brought to the table before we'd finished our first tacos, which made the experience feel rushed, the unencessity of which was exacerbated by the relative emptiness of the venue. Things worth knowing ahead of time: When I made a lunch reservation on OpenTable for Mezquite to try their 2026 Restaurant Week menu, I assumed I'd be offered the Mezquite menu listed on the San Antonio Restaurant Week website. Instead, you're limited to the Mezcalaria menu until the dinner service starts at 5pm. Not sure if the Mezcalaria menu remains available throughout the evening. In my opinion, Mezquite and Mezcalaria should be listed and treated as two separate venues. (There is an unclaimed listing for Mezcalaria with zero reviews on Yelp, so I'll post this there as well.) There's ample paid parking options at The Pearl, and a smaller lot adjacent to The Pullman Market that offers 2-hours free with a Pullman Market purchase. read more

Awesome brunch here! We made reservations online for a Sunday morning before leaving San Antonio. This restaurant is located in the Pullman Market. We checked in easily at the front and were seated right away. The restaurant is beautiful and has super high ceilings. It's very pleasant! Only complaint is that we were right next to all the plants so little fruit flies were all around our table. I ordered a mezcal margarita and would definitely get it again. I went with the huevos rancheros ($17), but it was tough choosing between all the delicious items on the menu. The huevos rancheros came with burnt ranchero salsa, cilantro, criolla, avocado, and black beans. OMG so good. I loved every single bite. My fiance got the breakfast tacos (3 for $16): chorizo, egg, salsa verde cremosa, and crema served with a side of breakfast potatoes. He loved it too! We especially loved the Sonoran wheat tortillas. I am sooo happy to report they have brought back their smaller bites! When they originally changed their menu to a more upscale experience my husband and friends I had gone to Mezquite with were so disappointed. But they brought back their street food type bites and it was delicious! My husband got the OG Burrito and he told me it was really good and flavorful. I had the mushroom caramelos and the mushrooms were amazing. The taste was really savory and they were a great texture. This is the dish I had originally when I first started coming to Mezquite and it remains one of my favorite plates at the Pearl. The only reason why I'm giving this place 4 stars is because the service was a little lacking. They could have just been understaffed for a holiday Monday shift. Overall I'd come back for lunch for sure, they also went back to a more classic guacamole recipe which is a big improvement from the guac we had previously. read more

DELICIOUS. The food was some of the best elevated Mexican food I've had in San Antonio. The vibe was expertly curated with beautiful low lighting and candles on the table. At one point in the night they even has a live mariachi band playing- can't get better than that! The tortillas that were served were the best tortillas I've ever had. Served with a side of butter and honey to dip making it a sweet treat. We paired the tortillas with the calabacitas (my 2nd favorite thing we ordered) which was messy but if everything can be eaten with a tortilla .. why not?! My family of four decided we wanted to go to the Pearl to Eat and was headed To Southerleigh when we realized they were closed until 5 so we opted to try something new. We always see this restaurant but have never tried it . They have two different menus and two different seating areas based on the menu you choose. We went for the Tex Mex cantina menu as I have a picky 15 year old and the other menu is for more mature palates. For the Catina style menu you can openly sit at tables near the bar and scan a QR code to Order food and drinks . My oldest daughter had the carne asada tacos, my youngest had the OG barrito, my wife and I both got the Pollo Asada rice bowl. The Asada tacos were served with a salsa that was semi spicy. The meat was very flavorful and is garnished with cilantro . She enjoyed them a lot. The OG barrito is filled with beans, guacamole, and carne asada. It looks more like a large flauta on flour . Upon her first bite she was like "this is good ", she wished it had the Spanish rice inside too. The Rice bowls my wife and I had were very flavorful, the chicken was seasoned well and the rice was cooked just right with an excellent flavor. It also came with avocado on top, beans, and pico. We ordered chips and salsa which wasn't chips, they were tostadas. As soon as the tostadas were set on our table, we could smell the rancid oil they'd been cooked in. Bummer. Came for brunch, this place has a bib gourmand, Michelin. We unfortunately did not get that kind of service. The server forgot important elements of the dishes we ordered, we had to repeatedly ask for items so we can enjoy a complete meal as described on the menu. Barbacoa was $28 (with egg) and should come with tortillas. Came after we asked already ate a quarter of the meal when we remembered the tortillas! The refills for drinks were also asked for repeatedly. One of the dishes didn't come with egg on top that we paid extra for. Really pretty interior but it is insanely loud. You just come in and seat yourself and then order through your phone with the QR code on the table. No one greets you or provides any service until your food is ordered. We ordered 2 orders of chips and salsa for the table (which was not cheap btw) and they delivered 7 mini tortilla sided chips and 3 bottles of hot sauce. We said that we ordered 2 and they said "that's enough for 2 orders" as if they were making it up as they went. Hot sauce instead of salsa was ridiculous. When the food came, a few things were wrong and several times throughout the meal, someone came up to use trying to give us something we didn't order because they got confused with the table numbers. My quesadilla was very good. The other members of my party were not impressed by their food. And nothing comes with sides. We had a couple of issues or needed something throughout our dining experience and it was very hard to get anyone to help since we didn't actually have an assigned waitstaff member. There didn't seem to be any communication between staff and there were definitely issues with the app ordering experiment. They are trying something and it's just not working. My review at the restaurant was terrible. I asked for webos ranchero's with Barbara coa and the Barbacoa tasted like brisket. It did not taste like barbacoa. I made a comment to the waiter, and he said, they don't serve brisket. I've been living in San Antonio for almost 40 years and I know my barbacoa. I loved the convenient location of this restaurant being located inside The Pullman Market and near The Pearl opening great options to grab drinks/wander around before or after enjoying a meal here. I want to emphasize when the servers mentioned "shareable plates" they were not joking!!! I thought to myself that because of the restaurant's Michelin acknowledgement the plates would be on the smaller side but I was wrong. There is definitely enough food to go around comfortably for 4-6 people. I really enjoyed how all the servers worked together and were not strictly assigned for a table, it made service very efficient and smooth. I was able to taste the: ceviche, beans/queso, Carmelo (quesadilla like dish), and the chicken entree. I want to highlight specifically the ceviche and the beans. These dishes were out of the ordinary... the beans served with their house butter and honey slathered on a fresh tortilla was incredible. The ceviche was not your standard ceviche dish but was paired nicely with a rich peanut/smoky sauce that complimented the fish very nicely. Overall these two items were a 10/10. I would suggest passing on their queso and the Carmelo (quesadilla) as they were not bad but nothing I haven't experienced before. I will highlight their salsa verde served with the Carmelo dish was FANTASTIC!!! The chicken entree was very tasty, the chicken was nice and juicy with a nice char from the grill. I do wish this dish had more of a kick either with a spice to stand out from the well blended flavors, just for something extra. I ended this meal with their pecan flan which was very interesting as they used pecan milk to construct this dish. I think their candied pecans were amazing... no notes, however I wasn't too sure how I felt about the flan itself, great creativity but not sure on the delivery... it was yummy but questionable. Came here for a nice Friday afternoon lunch. Parking was easy and plentiful with their designated parking lot. It costed a little over $5 for two hours of parking. The restaurant is like an oasis with beautiful plants surrounding the space. Soft Spanish music played in the background eliciting a relaxing atmosphere. I approached the host stand and another group arrived after me. The host acknowledged them first, but they told him that I was there first. I was then seated and provided the regular menu. The waitress approached me and I asked if I could do restaurant week. She seemed confused and looked around but ultimately said that I could order from the restaurant week menu. For the tacos, you can't mix and match, you can only order one type, which is fine. I also ordered the limonada which was the perfect blend of sweet and tart. The guacamole arrived very quickly, served with warm tortillas. The guacamole was very fresh. The carne asada tacos arrived next. They were served on homemade tortillas and topped with onions and cilantro. I was also offered sauces to top them with. The meat was cooked well, but a little salty for my taste. The tres leches cake itself was good, but the icing on top had a sour/spoiled taste. I was not able to finish it. I went to Mezquite explicitly to try out the mezcal flight - but I left being surprisingly pleased with the food as well! Touting small plated Sonoran region flavors, Mezquite is the kind of place you come ready to share. With a bounty of smaller plates and selection of mains, there is something for everyone! My party of two went the small plate route and I am so glad we did so that we could try a large variety of dishes - all of which knocked it out of the park! Some highlights included the aguachile (flawless acidity and just the right kick of spice) and the tuna tostada which had a flavor we hadn't experienced before and couldn't quite put our finger on. It may not seem to fit the vibe, but I beg of you, make sure you put some of the provided honey butter on one of those tortillas. You will not be disappointed! As for drinks we went with: 1. La Batanga - purely for the unusual pairing of tequila with coca-cola and the fact it noted it came garnished with "knife" (which...body did it!) This one definitely requires and adventurous palate 2. Midnight in Mexico - 10/10 for me! 3. The coveted mezcal flight - while off putting to others, I was pleased to find that the smoky almost shoe polish like quality of each mezcal only got stronger with each additional sip. I would love to come back to try different food...but I am getting that same flight! Per any Pearl excursion, parking has a fee, but Mezquite does share the separate Pullman Lot and you can have your parking validated from the restaurant so keep that in mind if you don't plan to linger. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the ambiance is just a tad off. The restaurant isn't a standalone, and instead is located in the back of the market with not really so much as a waist height wall so that kind of throws off the vibe of it/tends to be a bit loud if that is important to you. We dropped in on Saturday night bringing along two friends that came in for a visit. The was no wait at the bar or restaurant, but we opted to sit in the bar area. This was a little confusing. There are QR codes on the table and so we clicked and checked out the menu and then we sat and waited and waited. Although the QR code menu makes you select as of you will order from the app, we saw a server, but they didn't come to our table. So we went to ask the hostess. Apparently, you can order with the QR code, or from a server that is in the area. Shortly after adding an order to the app, the server came around and asked for our order and brought water. She was very nice, but I think she was the only one regarding to the bar and so she was spread thin. We didn't get water from her again. Drinks initially came out fast, but not exactly for the second round. The food came out pretty quickly. As far as the ambiance, we love Pullman Market and come often, but this was our first time having food at Mezquite. The bar area was super loud and noisy. At some point, a DJ set up and was giving club vibes. Definitely interesting, but difficult to talk with old friends. As far as the food was concerned, we ordered guacamole, potato flautas, chicken flautas, and carne asada tacos. The guacamole and chips were incredible. The chips are addictive- crispy with the perfect amount of salt that keeps you coming back. The guacamole was fresh and full of flavor. The flautas were perfectly crispy and topped with cabbage, pickled onions, cilantro, and salsa. Unfortunately, the potato seriously lacked seasoning and the salsa and vegetables didn't mask that at all. The chicken flautas were delicious and flavorful. No complaints about the tacos. Excellent pan-Mexican restaurant in a large, high-ceilinged space inside Pullman Market. This was our first visit, so we ordered the "Norteño" tasting menu and were pleased with the selections of the day. Aguachile verde, excellent. A soupy broccoli dish, not so much but worth trying to know what not to order next time. Carne asada platito, excellent and I'd order that on its own. The main "asado" of the day was a pork loin chop, seasoned and done exactly right (not overcooked as too many other places would serve it). Side tortillas would be hard to beat anywhere. Service was on the leisurely side, including time between courses. This will please some, but we'd have preferred a little better timing. Mezquite isn't likely to replace Los Azulejos as our go-to fancy-Mex spot, but we'll be back from time to time. read more

Mezquite is a great spot at the Pullman Market building, and we came here to meet a friend for brunch. The Cafe Sonambulo is a tasty brunch cocktail, and all three of us at the table ordered the Barbacoa brunch bowl with an egg on top. It was quite delicious, however we were almost halfway through eating when we realized they forgot to serve us the tortillas that were supposed to go with it. For a restaurant of this caliber this was a big miss. Add the fact that our water glasses sat empty for while until we brought it to their attention, let's just say the service was not top notch today. That being said I'd come back again for take 2 because the food, drink and atmosphere were worth it. read more

Gorgeous space inside Pullman Market! Love the decor and the huge tropical plants in this restaurant. Beautiful, large bar in the front of the restaurant. Good drinks!! like other reviews said, maybe there's a little wait for them when they're busy, but you can wait/hang out and even be served in their lounge area (They have full service in the lounge and super comfortable chairs!). Food comes out very quickly from their kitchen. It's pretty hard to get a table during the weekend nights at 7 pm, but we've noticed on Friday and Saturdays at 5:30/6 there is space in the lounge area or you can make a reservation if you want a table. We liked their nachos, guacamole, carne asada tacos (3 street taco sized tacos per order), margaritas and side of ranch beans. I saw some reviews saying the prices were too high, but the food is really amazing and the restaurant is beautiful. Highly recommend if you're a bit hungry/thirsty before or after Pullman market. Don't miss the little gift shop next door as you exit Pullman! read more

This is so hard. We were really looking forward to this meal. Michelin rated and positive word of mouth. The food truly was outstanding. Pollo, pescado, arroz, even the ceviche was awesome. What hampered the taste experience was the incredibly poor service and the unapologetic way it was corrected. Even the server prefaced the order in which food would be served, but failed to do so even when "cued". How can one truly savor the main plates when fresh tortillas haven't been served, which were supposed come before the main dishes. It took us talking to three different people before getting fresh tortillas. By the time we received them, we were done with the main dishes. For this chica ... it IS a big deal. The service, or lack thereof, hurt this rating. Mezquite .... If you want to show off, then service counts too. read more
