Dominick's is a cute hole in the wall. It's found in a strip mall, but once you walk in, the elegance of the restaurant makes you forget where you are. The hostess was so kind and sweet when she greeted us and showed us to our table. Our waiter JR popped up within seconds with water and greetings. We were given garlic knots to start. We ordered our drinks and garden salad to begin. Our salad arrived and it was beautiful and a good size for sharing. The drinks arrived and were delicious. Dinner for 3 last night. Haven't updated my review in a decade, thought it was about time... As always the side/starter salads were wonderful. I had the Caesar and the romaine was nice and crispy, the croutons were crunchy and the dressing was not overdone. The free garlic knots are sinful! I had the pasta carbonara off the Specials menu. After a loooong wait for our entrees, my generous portion arrived (see photo). Lots of pancetta made it very filling and tasty, but I thought the sauce was a little dry. One of my companions had the shrimp scampi - he always orders this here and loves it. My wife ordered the pasta rustica which came with lots of black and green olives and a good amount of capers. She thought it could have used a little more flavor, maybe some more garlic? Overall we had a very pleasant evening, service was great. We stumbled into this restaurant while in the area enjoying massages. We were here for lunch & their lunch menu & drink specials were not to be beat! My husband and I shared a piece of their large slice pizza, & shrimp scampi. I had an arugula salad and he had a cup of their minestrone soup. The soup was delish & tasted like it was made with love! The broth was so flavorful! Pizza was also delicious! We had a side of their homemade ranch and that was also very good! My glass of sangria tasted like it needed a bit more time in the fruits, so not the most flavorful sangria I've had. Our waiter, a young man, was wonderful and attentive. Restaurant has a full bar area and seating, along with plenty of indoor B and even outdoor seating. Italian music is playing in the speakers and on Fridays and Saturdays, they even have live music! We visited better while visiting the other side of town. It was odd that they had tables under a tent in the parking lot near front door. Hubby got shrimp Alfredo fettuccine and i got spaghetti and meatballs. Husband said "this is the best fettuccine I've ever had in my life" and I never get spaghetti when we go out because it never tastes good. We did the meatball appetizer. This gave me the chance to try their sauce and meatballs, but already knew I'd get my "go to" ... Pizza the sauce and meatballs were amazing! I changed my mind and got spaghetti and meatballs for my order! I ordered a half, because now I was full from eating so much of there appetizers! Good thing, cause even the half wads a big serving. Ok first off SERVICE here was amazing. Our waiter was so attentive and helpful and gave some great recommendations. The food is absolutely delicious and we could not get enough of it. The pizza was so good!!!! The spicy marinara sauce with the calamari was so goods the restrooms were very clean and so was the dinning area. Recently in Tucson so made this a dinner stop. Friend had made a reservation and when we arrived we were told that the table she was giving us was just finishing up and minded if we wait for a minutes. Well, that turned out to be about 15 minutes and it wasn't until we went back up to jog her memory that we were still waiting, she sat us. The food here is incredible and tonight I tried the Chicken Piccata with a small Caesar Salad. Their dressing for the salad is so creamy and thick and full of that great Caesar taste. The lettuce was crunchy and fresh. The Piccata was so good and ended up squeezing some more lemon over the dish. It's more than enough to feed two people; they give you two, thin breasts along with a big portion of pasta. Friend ordered some of their garlic knots, which come with marinara sauce. These were really good, crunchy outside and fluffy inside and the sauce is so good and tangy. Love this place so much and can't wait to get back down to Tucson for a meal here! read more

We went early, about 4pm. Place was quiet but it was happy hour. The place is clean and staff were friendly. My wife had a crostini special with Brie they have for February and I had the chicken parm. We both had drinks before and they were good. My meal came with soup and I had minestrone and it was packed with all kinds of veggies, beans, and pasta. The knots were tasty as well. Both of our meals were excellent but I've not had chicken parm anywhere else to compare, but it was good tasting. I would recommend this place for sure. read more

Everyone is understaffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. Remember they're busy because they're good. This restaurant still has that old time feel it's a definite classic type vibe. It's in the sense of good food and high quality. It has that atmosphere of any old school restaurant in any major city. Instead it's tucked in A shopping mall in Tucson. I had a home made meatball sandwich for lunch. Dominick's real Italian is not that real or great. The first red flag we ignored was we called before going to the restaurant and asked how long the wait would be. They said 50 minutes, and added us to the waitlist, this was at 5:40. We got seated a little after seven (almost 1.5 wait). Then we got seated. The garlic knots were brought out and tasted pretty doughy but good. They kinda remind me of the garlic knots you can get out of the freezer section at your local walmart. No bad things to say about the bruschetta. Two of my friends got the Caesar salad, which they enjoyed. My other friend and I got the garden salad, which was fine. My last friend got the minestrone and it was adequate. Then the most unfortunate part of the night was our entrees. Two of my friends got the penne vodka, it had no taste and reminded me of cardboard when I tried it. They both rated it a generous 4/10. To pay almost $30 for that meal was diabolical. My other two friends got the lasagna and to put it nicely, they think the Stouffer's frozen lasagna could beat it out. They also rated it a very kind and delicate 4/10. Lastly, I got the chicken saltimboca. It tasted like boiled salty chicken with canned minced garlic you'd keep in your fridge piled on top. Not sure my breath will ever smell good again. Instead of Marinara sauce I got vodka sauce on my pasta and I guess you could say no taste is better than a bad one? Disappointed in my meal to say the least. We took our mother here for her 96th birthday. My parents, father is Italian, born in Bannia, IT and my mom is from Sao Paulo Brazil. they owned and operated a restaurant for 0ver 15years. My opinion, is the server was delightful and thorough, loved her, however the cook placed her in a very poor situation. As the food was served tepid, The soup, was warm, not hot, and the meatballs I order were tepid. They were baked in a cast iron skillet, that I could pick up with my bare hands. It was not hot either. Now I am a person who will say something. And I did, the soup was reheated, BTW it was very good. Now the meatballs served in a skillet had great flavor but do not serve tepid. The manager came out and said the food was tested for temp and it was 150 degrees. Well, that in my eyes this is not correct. I was taught that 165 degrees is what typically any meat item should be cooked to at a minimum. overall the waitress was great, and the food has good flavor but do not serve it tepid. My wife's lasagna was hot on the edges but tepid in the middle as well,. Good thing is we brought it home and had to the left overs today for lunch. Good flavor of the food but as stated the cook did a disservice to the restaurant by not service the food hot. Try it. I wont go back but it is still worth trying as the food has good flavor. read more

Dominick's has been on my list for a long time now. Participating in the Dine & Discover Marana challenge was the perfect motivator! Given that my family is from Italy, the way we eat in Italy is very different from Italian eateries in Tucson. This is more of what you find in New York, what I refer to as "East coast Italian." Basically an Americanized version, but flavorful nonetheless. We ordered the Dominick's lasagna and the prosciutto arugula salad. Both were very generous portions and flavorful. The lasagna had a kick from the sausage that the use. The portion was plentiful for me. I only ate half. We also asked our server for her recommendations and she spoke very highly of the pizza, so I'll definitely come back sometime to give it a try. Our server, Brie (or Bree) was fantastic. Super attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. She managed to cover the entire dining area alone and did it flawlessly! They also have a cute outdoor area which I'm sure is lovely when it's not 110 out. read more

My girlfriend and I were excited to try this place. The experience was sadly, lackluster. We stood at the hostess desk for about 5 mins before someone actually took notice to us. Somehow a couple that arrived 10 mins after us was tended to before us, we were ok with that, things happen. The food arrived and it was pretty plain and lifeless unfortunately. The presentation did not match the flavor or lack there of. I personally think the food lacked salt, seasoning and honestly just "love". This place is just average. I appreciate the waiter trying his best to be attentive. This place makes their wait staff tend to outside and inside patrons simultaneously. It seems this assignment causes a disconnect for some of the staff and it leads to longer wait times for certain tables inside or outside. Made a reservation for two at 7:00 and showed up 10 minutes early. Were seated outside because tables inside were reserved? which there were a few available. Asked if we could be moved inside. Was told we could either sit at the bar or wait about another 30 minutes. I guess making a reservation doesn't mean you are reserving a table. To the owner Who replied back our reservation was made on Tuesday the 11th. Luckily, we didn't stay there outside since it started raining. This little place feels like the neighborhood spot you're probably looking for. Every meal starts with a basket of their garlic knots which are always a treat. Their menu is just varied enough & the pasta is always cooked just right. I've visited several times and had a variety of the pasta dishes. My favorites include the Alfredo (if you get it with grilled chicken you'll have more than enough protein!; the shrimp are always fresh tasting and cooked well). The eggplant parm is delightful with a bright marinara and if you'd like to go non-veggie spring for a side of their meatballs! Note that on the weekends they often have live musicians--ranging from a guitar duo to a saxophone. This had only made a difference for my dad's enjoyment because he's hard of hearing. When we were finally acknowledged, the hostess told us that while we did have a reservation, they did not have a table for us. No explanation, barely an apology.
