I've been familiar with Dominic's since the mid '00's when they had a "roach coach" that showed up regularly to my office. Always the best of the trucks that visited. The Chicken Spiedini bowl was the perfect comfort food. A large tray of pasta with broccoli florets and mushrooms swimming in a succulent alfredo sauce and a long crispy coated spiedini with tender and juicy chicken interior. The lasagna used to be the best now it is terrible. $14.00 for lasagna with meat sauce. One tiny bit of cheese and the first 3 layers nothing at all... The Good: The penne was cooked to a perfect al dente and the "garlic" breadsticks were soft, fluffy and warm. The Bad: The marinara sauce is watery and thin. It's almost like they didn't bother to properly drain the pasta. Oh yeah...and those nice fluffy breadsticks? You can barely taste the garlic - you can mostly only taste bread. The Ugly: $4 for a small cupcake size "cheesecake". Served frozen. Seriously, it's barely 3" wide and 1.5" tall (before fruit topping). Over an hour after getting home with them and we are still waiting for them to thaw out. Overall, I don't think we'll go back nor will we recommend it to anyone else. read more

My son and I come in there at least once or twice a week, buying two or three dinners and (2) dollar drinks since it's happy hour. I'm very picky so used to stick to the same thing every single time, but I have branched out a little bit and tried The spedini and cheese lasagna. The food is always excellent, but the most special thing is Kim who seems to take care of everything in there. She is always super friendly and never forgets any extra silverware, napkins, straws and does everything with a smile. I love to come to this one over the one in Parkville? simply because of her. Looked up Domincs and thought Italian sounded good. Upon arriving at the location we were surprised that this is not your typical restaurant. Like other reviewers, we were hesitant to get food at a drive-up window at a car wash (if the car wash is open can you get your food and eat while going through the car wash?) but thought what the heck. I just left Dominic's Casual Italian at the drive thru on N. Oak Trafficway and was shocked that the lady handing me my food did not have gloves on, not to mention a mask. If you like mediocre Italian food and want to risk getting a virus, then this place is for you! It is obvious the Owner does not care about his employees nor his customers. If the idea of an Italian restaurant that is drive-thru only and is also inside a car wash sounds like a bad idea to you, that's because it is. I sat in the drive-thru for a solid four songs even though there were only two cars in front of me. By the time I got to song number four on the album I was listening to, I was starting to get pretty annoyed and considered forfeiting my lustrous spot #3 in line when the issue was finally made evident to me: the drive-thru worker stuck like five bags out to the car at the window. Seriously, people. Enough with the laziness and inconsideration. If you have a mega order, don't go through a drive-thru and make everybody waste gas and generally become infuriated with life because of you. Get off your butt and order inside. Since Dominic's does not have a lobby, don't go to Dominic's. Stepping down from the soapbox, I shall continue. Once I got to the take-your-food window, I had to wait about another two and a half songs. The food is not particularly impressive, either. I guess Dominic's tries to warn you by inserting 'Casual' into its name. The breadsticks fool you because they smell really good and are soft to the touch, but then taste pretty bland. I had to dunk them in gobs of sauce to finish it. Speaking of gobs of sauce, the Seafood Fettuccine has GOBS of sauce in it. Honestly, the dish tasted a lot like a crappy frozen dinner. The noodles were literally swimming in the sauce (not literally). But I couldn't twirl the pasta onto my fork at all because the slippery noodles kept flinging everywhere. The best thing about it was there was a lot of meat (that's what she said). I do have to say they are extremely generous with the meat, as there was more than enough in both my dish and my girlfriend's Pasta Con Broccoli (con chicken added). I wish I hadn't washed my car earlier in the day, because I would have done it here to make the trip worth it. Dominic's has been in my life since I was 21/2 years old, I can still remember what the restaurant looked like when it was open, the fun decorations and wallpaper and the place we used to always sit! When it closed my whole family was devastated! A couple years after its closing my mom discovered the Dominic's connected to the car wash. She brought it home a few times and as always it was amazing, but as I got older we rarely got it. Today my mom and I decided to get some to bring home, let me tell you it is worth it!!! We ordered the chicken spedini bowl with OBG sauce (olive oil butter garlic) and shell pasta along with A meat sauce/meatball and shell pasta. This is what we used to always get. It was amazing the chicken was cooked perfectly, the sauce (supposed to be oily) was just like when I was a kid, but even better. My mom loved the meat sauce and meatball as well. Along with that we got a chicken sandwich that actually looked like a chicken sandwich is supposed to. Having never ordered it we didn't know what to expect, but it was a pleasant surprise It came with a delicious honey mustard sauce, chips, and pickle. Yum yum! Since we all know about gas stations that are amazing BBQ places, small buses that are retail shops and former BBQ/Italian cuisine mixing, the obvious progression had to be Italian Car Wash. In the future I'm going to get the car wash and the drive through but tonight the Italian sufficed. J got the Penne with Diablo Sauce ,I had the calzone our app was garlic cheese bread. I think the calzone was possibly just a frozen thing that they cook. It didn't have a lot of noticeable flavor for being stuffed with sausage, pepperoni and onions. However, the Diablo sauce, which we ended up putting on everything, was earthy, spicy, garlicky and gone. I don't know what inspired or who made the first Diablo sauce but this, by far, is my favorite. I've been to the other location, and it was a limited-service restaurant. This location was a simple drive-thru, and while it seems like a great concept, it was extremely slow. I don't know how you could possibly make Italian food that quickly and also be of quality, and after my visit, I discovered that you can't. I mean, I don't expect it to be the most amazing Italian food ever, but I at least expect it to be better than Noodles & Company, and Dominic's couldn't even do that. While my boyfriend enjoyed his Seafood Fettuccine, I didn't really like my Pasta Con Broccoli with chicken. His pasta had a generous portion of meat, which he appreciated. The chicken they put on my pasta was okay. It was a bit too much on the dry side, and the way they prepared it didn't blend well with the pasta. There wasn't much actual pasta, and there were just a few broccoli florets floating in it, so it was essentially a bunch of sauce with a little bit of pasta and broccoli topped with some less than mediocre chicken. I believe each entree does come with a breadstick, and it was okay. Nothing spectacular by any means. If anything, it was just a good filler because I certainly wasn't full after the pasta and the breadstick. My boyfriend's pasta seemed to be a heartier portion than mine, and he was full at the end. Did I already say that the service was slow? Oh, I did? It shall be reiterated. I would highly recommend calling in, and even then, you have to wait for the people ahead of you to get their orders, so it only speeds it up a little bit. Basically, I didn't find Dominic's to be fast, though it was certainly casual. Being in a car wash is definitely a new thing for me, which I can't decide if I like that or not. Review is not based on the quality of the food because, unfortunately, I did not get that far. I have been looking forward to trying this place for a long time after reading and hearing great things about it. The menu online listed a dozen meatballs for $12.59. The menu on the drive-thru had them slightly higher at $13.89, which I thought was fine, but when I ordered, the employee gave me a price of just under $18. When I asked why she said that prices are "subject to change" and that the price went up but the menu had not been updated yet. I understand online menus can get outdated but I expect the price on the menu at the restaurant to be accurate or not posted at all. Maybe there are fluctuations in the meatball market I'm not aware of but my first impression was immediately soured by the unexpected price hike. I would likely have spent as much as $20 on a dozen meatballs had the menu given the accurate cost. I ended up driving over to Giovanni's and getting them there instead. I'm sure it's likely I could have argued my way into getting the posted price but to me it wasn't worth my time to argue over balls of meat bathing in sauce. Maybe I'll try again the next time I am simultaneously in dire need of meatballs and a carwash. read more

I've been coming to Dominics since it was a home in the wall drive thru. I've always liked it. Tonight, while sitting in the drive thru, I signed up for the VIP program that is on the menu at the N. Oak location. They emailed me my coupon for $5 off. When the coupon was sent to me, it had the ParkVille location on it, not N Oak. Dominic refused to take it. I'd rather buy a frozen lean cuisine Alfredo than the stuff they served here. Totally flavorless, and the red pepper flakes didn't help. It was somehow the worst Alfredo I've ever eaten. Dominic's Casual Italian (Dom's) is quite possibly some of the best Italian food I have ever had! My go to is the chicken fettuccini alfredo, which comes with a breadstick (like all their entrées). Their garlic cheese bread with sugo dipping sauce is also a must do, it is excellent. I haven't had/heard of anyone having anything from here that has not been great. If you are looking for wonderful Italian take out food at a decent price then this is your place. It is a drive through, and it is connected to a car wash. A weird concept for sure, but I am now a monthly subscriber to the car wash ($20 a month for unlimited washes), so I just run my car through every time I finish at the Dom's drive through. This is a great place for a nice Italian meal on the couch in front of a good movie. Definitely some of the best Italian restaurants (including Dom's dine-in location) in all of KC. read more

This is good for what it is- a drive through Italian place attached to a car wash. In fact, it's 100% better than any food you would ever associate with a car wash. The service was great, they even gave our dog a treat. We also didn't have that long of a wait (something other reviews have complained about). The food was alright, not bad. A big step up from Fazolis for sure. I had the eggplant parmesan and toasted/fried ravioli for an appetizer. The pasta was cooked well and the sauce tasted good, even though it was pretty thin.
