I think there's a subset of pizza folk that like the taste of premade crusts. And that's not a dig-- those same individuals usually like Imo's or frozen pizzas. While I do consider myself a part of that subset, I prefer pizzas that use 00 flour and have crispy, aerated crusts with good bubble formation that has a slight chew to it, similar to ones fired in true brick ovens or commercial pizza ovens. For that reason, Nicky's was just okay for the price that it was. I probably wouldn't order from Nicky's again because there are so many other places like Tascio's or Northeast. read more

Came in on Friday/Halloween with the wife. Parking was fairly easy outside as this place is nestled in a strip mall behind QuikTrip. We were sat almost immediately. It was nice to see quite a few folks dressed up for Halloween, but true to form, it's a bit dark like most bar and grills. Drinks were served up pretty quickly and we had some cheesy garlic bread (very good) to start with some of their (temp) warm marinara. The wife opted for the lasagna and noted that it was just okay. I opted for a 12" buffalo chicken pizza with some pepperoni. I chose well... it's one of the better pizzas I've ever had. Unfortunately the 12" was too much. Take heed: a 10" is probably enough for anybody, even if it's thin crust. Service was generally quick the entire time. If you're feeling pizza and are in the area, this is a very good choice. My party of two and another two groups walked in 3 hours before close; just kidding, no we didn't. We were told that they were closing because it was slow. I really liked this place, I'm from out of town and usually plan a night to stop here, if their hours are going to be inconsistent, I'm not planning on stopping here anymore. Wife just had our 3rd baby and she wanted pizza. We got the large lasagna on original crust! We also got the roast beef sandwich and a side salad with ranch. Their house made ranch was Yummo! Both the pizza and sandwich were wonderful! Can't wait to try more from the menu! read more

Pretty solid place that I inadvertently stumbled upon. I had heard great things about a nearby place but they were closed when I got there, so I settled on this. It was a great decision! I sat at the bar, watched the Royals game on TV, and eavesdropped on the gentlemen near me having a conversation on who the GOAT quarterback is. I started with the grilled chicken salad, which I'm very glad I got because I always forget how much I like strawberries, bleu cheese, and pecans in a salad. I also ordered a Nicky's Favorite pizza to eat some now and take some to go. It was very solid pizza! Overall really cool place that I'd definitely recommend if you're in the area! read more

Love the pizza here but sometimes here lately the staff seems like they are having a bad day. Not so friendly. Like it's a bother to wait on people. Also distracted and slow to bring the check or any drink refills. Trying not to take it personal but not sure what the issue is. Great prices!!!! Great taste!!! The lettuce, sour cream, chips & salsa came on the side to top yourself (I would ask for extra sour cream if you're getting a large) We also really liked the creamy garlic dressing on our salad. Called in order for pick up on Monday night, with 15/20 min wait time. Got the THIN CREST pepperoni pizza with pepperoncini, thin crest cheese pizza with no sauce and garden salad with ranch. Went there on a Thursday evening with a group of friends. We all had salads and shared a large pizza. The salads were surprisingly delicious! I just had a house salad with blue cheese dressing. Still a 5. We have been there 3 times in less than a month. The second trip we tried the Hawaiian pizza and meatball sub. Pizza was delicious. A 5 for sure. The sandwich was probably a 4 just because of how soft the meatball was. It was tasty though. Third trip we tried the spin dip, calzone and we had the italian grinder again. The grinder was just as delicious at the first time. 10 !! Calzone was just ok, but we think it would have been excellent had we chosen different toppings. We didn't like the chicken that was on it. Well, well, well... pizza, huh, alright, I'll bite. The easiest way to explain this place is a pizza bar, the atmosphere sphere is what you would expect when you think that phrase, slightly louder than a pizza place, but not as rowdy as a full bar. It's family friendly, so the little ones can go, and they have quite the selection of beers, I stopped looking after Peroni as I rarely see that on a menu anywhere and just ordered it. The wait staff is pleasant and helpful. We had a trainer/trainee combo, so attention was there with no issues. We ordered the garlic cheese bread and the meatball with cheese as appetizers, and while I personally think the meatball was a tad pricey for what you get, it was good so if you haven't had it before i recommend it at least once. The bread was almost a perfect consistency of chewy cheesy goodness. That's where the wow factor kinda ends as we head into the main course: We ordered 2 medium build your own split pizzas... and .. well, they were pizzas, nothing really to write home about. They weren't bad, but I have certainly had better and I either don't understand my own spatial awareness or the split on the thing crust was off (yeah I know pedantic) but it caught my eye and I disliked it. I've been looking for a great pizza place in the KC area for awhile. Nicky's Pizza is the best pizza by far, I've had in the KC area. Plenty of ingredients and I love the thin crispy crust. The Cobb salad was great too. Plenty of turkey, ham and bacon. One of the best Cobb salads I've had in a very long time. Garlic bread was awesome too. Tried the meatballs and the best meatballs in KC. Next time I'm ordering the meatball sub. I highly recommend this place. read more

Nicky's Pizza is one of our favorite places to get Italian food. They have a large variety for the pasta, sandwich or pizza lovers in your life. I love that they offer gluten free crusts so my entire family can enjoy a meal together. They use fresh ingredients that you can tell are not Pre made. We love their weekly specials. Tuesday's you can purchase a small 1 topping for $3 with a purchase of a large pizza. This is the perfect amount to feed my family of 5. The dessert pizza is also another favorite for us. The creamy cream cheese topped with cinnamon, sugar and apples just melts in your mouth. They offer it on gluten free crust which is a nice treat for those with allergies or sensitivity. I'm super picky about pizza, it's not my go to food because many times it's just....meh-pizza. It has to be a certain kind of perfect for me to appreciate it. I'll pass on most pizza especially the typical pizza joints, where the bulk of the meal is from sauce and bread, nope. Nicky's is excellent, these people pride themselves on pizza and it shows. Every piece has exactly the right blend of sauce, bread and toppings, and the sauce is mmmm, imagine me going all, al bacio, over here and I haven't even tried the pastas or sammies yet. There's only a few pizza places I will chose when going out for dinner, Nicky's is one of them, and the atmosphere is fun and energetic. I haven't had much else here but I can speak to the wings, boomtown. Many pizza purists balk at the BBQ chicken pizza but it's one of my absolute favorites and my favorite place to get it is at Nicky's. I worked at a pizza place in high school, I can still smell it, and taste it, call it unorthodox but I think we invented the ranch-pizza partnership in that very parlor in the middle of the city. We anointed our slices with ranch from the pizza gods. Nicky's knows ranch and it pairs perfectly with the bbq chicken pizza after a little crushed red pepper is added. I visited here on a recent business trip with a colleague since we wanted something close to the hotel and this spot came up. My colleague's only request at dinner was a place with draft beer, so this fit the bill. We both had a late lunch so weren't terribly hungry. We started with a draft guinness and a draft ultra, but they were out of the ultra , so the waiter ended up bringing out a can. My colleague drank three of these. I just had 1 guinness. We also added 2 of the meatball appetizers and the garlic cheese bread. At 3.99 each for the homemade meatballs with mozzarella, I thought it was a bit steep. They were pretty good, but not nearly as good as the ones at Tony's in San Fran. The garlic cheese bread was just ok, I wasn't really impressed. For our main entree, we decided to just split a medium pizza and both liked the sound of the Nicky's Special. Where I think I went wrong was getting a hand tossed instead of their original crust. I was eyeing other customers pizzas and pretty much everyone ordered this tall looking crust, similar to Chicago style, but not thick in the center. Our hand tossed was sort of bland flavored. As were the toppings on the pizza. I guess I was expecting something magical since it had high yelp reviews and several local accolades newspapers and such. read more

We started off with the spinach dip obviously made in house with juicy artichoke quarters. My husband and I split a medium pizza with thin crust, you can choose your crust! They have a cauliflower crust option too that is really good! Dinner time is busy, especially the weekends with people eating in and picking up their take out. My local Kansas City friends are regulars here and had their staple items that they love to eat and drink. I did have Nicky's boozy lemonade which was fantastic and my salad was just what I needed after my flight to Kansas City from SLC. I loved all the Kansas City decor inside and I also loved that there's seating outside, although we decided to sit inside. Waitress asked how everything was and I said it was great except pizza order was not right. She shrugged and walked away. Didn't apologize, offer to pay for our beer or do anything.
