This was an unexpected find and a place we would return to when in the area. We decided to eat someplace new, but near the airport as we would be picking up a family member around 9p. I used Yelp to set my area to search and came across BC Bistro and all the wonderful reviews. We loved the spaciousness of the restaurant and bar area. The staff were warm and welcoming. There appeared to be regulars enjoying their time. We split the Lobster Mac and Cheese and Tomato Arancini and a glass of OZV Old Vine Zinfandel wine. Delicious! There were so many good choices that it was hard to pick, especially since we're were splitting a meal. After we placed our order, I was lamenting that I wished BC Bistro was near our home or my office because I really liked their salad choices. Then I decided to get one to go since I was working the next day (tax season hours). The salad was soo good. Another great experience at KC Bistro which I still consider a gem hidden in a little strip mall. It's a great place to go prior to the wonderful ICM concerts at Park University. This is a very unassuming place in a strip mall. It is a comfortable space with tables and chairs. A booth would have been nice but they are making the best use of their space. I started my dinner with a Cinnamon Apple Moscow Mule. It was warm and amazing. My girlfriend a Raspberry Bramble. It was equally good. We were pretty hungry so we ordered a Bruschetta appetizer while we weighed all of the menu options. The bread was soft and fully loaded with mozzarella pearls and halved grape tomatoes. It had the right amount of balsamic on it. I chose the Balsamic Chicken. The chicken was very flavorful and the fettucine was cooked perfectly. The pesto cream sauce was delightful and it was just the right amount. My girlfriend ordered the Spicy Shrimp. She subbed out the rice for pepper jack mac. The waitress warned her that the shrimp was really spicy. She wasn't wrong. If the shrimp had just been "glazed" with mango habanero it might have been good but they fully loaded the plate with the sauce. No complaints but she was glad she thankful for the coolness of the mac and cheese. They serve by committee here and everyone takes their job seriously. The food was good and they have a large and varied menu. The wait wasn't too bad either considering we showed up as a party of 12 without notice. They only had a few tables large enough to handle a party of our size, but we were still seated in about twenty minutes. The price for 12 was fairly reasonable as well. I know cause I paid the check. Unfortunately a great meal and night out with friends would have been perfect were it not for the side of attitude that was served up from our waitress. Not really sure what her issue was. Maybe she just didn't like my face? In any case she started talking smack to me from the onset, telling me I needed to get it together and give her my order. I don't know if she was trying to be cute or what, but the look on my face didn't slow her down as she was continually rude ... right up until she realized I was the one asking for the check. Not only are there plentiful options, the food tastes great! If you're looking for suggestions: - BC club - BC salad or house salad There was a trivial issue on the website (corndog had an option for gluten free but wasn't). One of the staff members called to explain and triple check. Per my request, they swapped it out. I know it sounds trivial but that kind of follow-up and attention to detail matters. We were on a family vacation and that kind of mistake could have easily created an unpleasant situation. Thank you BC staff for checking! I'm rambling at this point. This hidden gem, I've driven past for years, was such a pleasant surprise! Called for a reservation on this Friday night and so happy we did, busy place. Great little server went through the menu favorites and kept our drinks full the entire meal. Between the 7 of us, we sampled several items. I only took pictures of two (sorry, my children clean plates faster than piranha's) Everything was delicious and cooked to order. Very impressed. The table ended the meal with a few dessert items, like Brownie Sundae and Bread Pudding. This place was terrific! When you pull up, don't be out off by the fact that it's in a strip mall. Inside, it's a basic decor. However, the food is amazing. It's a mix of Italian and American favorites. Lots of pasta dishes, burgers and a good amount of salad choices. I had the steak and blue cheese salad. It was excellent. The steak was great and there was just the right amount of blue cheese flavor (not too tangy). My son had a burger. It was excellent as well. This is the sort of family-owned feel restaurant that is very hard to find these days but very missed. Menu was diverse and everything I had was good. This restaurant upon entry was very clean and simple. No exquisite decor, just a nice friendly establishment that felt comfortable and welcoming for all. The husband and I enjoyed our meals. We tasted each other's food and came to the conclusion that the blackened chicken is absolute perfection! The caesar salad was different...the lettuce was chopped pretty small and was a little difficult to keep on the fork but the taste was wonderful nonetheless. Unfortunately the balsamic chicken, though flavorful, wasn't my ideal taste preference as there didn't seem to be a balance of sweet and savory...it was slightly sweet and creamy but not savory as I expected. The addition of salt wasn't the cure but perhaps it's simply due to my personal idea of what it should taste like in contrast to how it's actually created to taste. The creamy spinach was good but my husband believed it had a beer/malt taste to it, which neither of us are fans of. Always a place you can count on! It was fairly busy for a Wednesday night ( parking was limited) but we were seated right away. I love their house salad so many apples. The BBQ Burger is huge and alot of fries ( my daughters choice minus the onions & cheese) and we shared the crab crusted salmon. It is a big portion so very glad we shared. I landed at MCI, was hungry, checked Yelp, and saw this place had the best reviews. My dad is super picky, so I was a little nervous. I ordered the pulled pork sliders and the side salad. The sliders came with homemade chips. They needed a little salt, but I'd rather that than over salted. The sliders were so good. The bbq sauce was a little sweet/tangy, which I loved.
