I'm disappointed with this Dominos. Burnt, tasteless pizza each time as well as garlic nots. So disappointing.

Because the last one did not go well either. Even accounting for the slower life we are pursuing in our retirement community of choice, we don't have one hour and four minutes to wait on a pizza. Or 54 minutes to wait on a simple spaghetti and meatballs. Or seven minutes standing at the front desk with no one coming by to see you at the "please wait to be seated" podium. I'm older now, I don't have that kind of time to waste. The food was "OK". The spaghetti and meatballs (substituted sausage, maybe this required a trip to Italy") was lukewarm. It tasted OK. My pizza was basically loose and drippy in the center. Not from cheese, from being poorly cooked. Again, there was nothing special about the taste. Lastly, I had to send the first pizza serving tray back to be cleaned. I don't know if it's too little staff, too little caring, too little organization, too little training. It all adds up to a memorable experience for the wrong reasons. It is a very nice place when it comes to decor and such. Even a nice big lighted Christmas display for folks to use as a photo backdrop. Hopefully the ownership will take this review to heart and not blame it on "being too busy" (that sure wasn't the case" or "fussy clientele". It sure wasn't that either.

The service was excellent, so let's start there. The interior is part of an older building that has been partially renovated. Clean and all the tables get covered with butcher paper and, when combined with crayons, offers fun for everyone. Finally we get to why people go to restaurants / the food. We started with the Calamari, which was perfectly fried, not greasy at all, and served with a tasty marinara, but we would prefer lemon. The white pizza was excellent also, we added some Italian sausage and that put the final touch on the pizza. The Greek salad was fair, but it didn't really roll our socks down, and the spaghetti with meatballs also fell a little short for us - the sauce had great tomato flavour, but it lacked the herbiness (we'd even have been ok with some spicy heat) that you'd expect from a good sauce. They have daily specials that could appeal to some, and they have a rather eclectic menu, right down to fish and chips. We don't go through S. Pittsburgh very often, but we might be back. They also have a location in Chattanooga.

The beef was clearly ground in house and was a wonderful coarse grind. excellent. With the buns charred on the grill, it made an excellent light lunch without any sides needed. Added bonus for house brewed beer. Found the kolsch a tasty lunch treat. Warmish inside, and hot outside, sadly the views that day were shrouded in haze. Don't know when we'd ever be back in the area, but if we were, I'd not hesitate to suggest a repeat stop.

It did taste like duck and the trio of sauces was a nice touch (ranch, tarragon aioli, bbq sauce). Chicken lettuce cups - refreshing and light. Could have used more hoisin sauce. Ranchado chicken - good sized chicken breast. Couldn't really taste the ranch rather the cheese made it extra cheesy. The bun was smaller than I thought it would be. Beer - the hefe and red ale were refreshing and standard. Service - slow. Our waiter disappeared after getting our appetizer order and didn't come back. Another waiter took over after 20 minutes. It was busy but I've seen much busier places and the wait wasn't 20+ minutes. It's like she didn't bother to tell another person she was going to be gone. She finally came back to bust our table. What was strange she took my gf plate first, left mine. I paid with my card and she handed the bill over to her. She also didn't acknowledge me (note: I'm not Caucasian). It'll likely be the last time I eat here; it was not a welcoming atmosphere.

Pizza was very good. Ingredients were fresh and place is cute. Friday nights include music upstairs and we were able to enjoy a talented singer while we enjoyed pizza in the downstairs restaurant. Then a neighbor invited us to dinner and took us here, and now we can't stop going here! There are SO many things on their menu that we can't wait to try. So far, we have had the following: Let me start with dessert, the Creme Brulé is to die for, we get it every single time if there's any still available. We buy it when we walk in the door, before dinner, because it might be gone before we're done eating. Yes sir, it's that good. Now on to what we've had so far. The Apple Pecan salad is a must try, just order the dressing on the side and go sparingly so it doesn't overpower the rest of the awesome ingredients like fuji apples, candied pecans and feta cheese (yum, yum, yummy). The first thing I ate there was the Marge-a-rita, made into a calzone, it was heaven. Made with all fresh ingredients and a homemade marinara served on the side. I'm not normally a red sauce / marinara person but I took the rest of it home, I certainly wasn't going to leave it there! My husband had the Deluxe pizza and said it was fantastic. And of course we had the Creme Brulé for dessert. That Friday, we took our friends out for dinner and brought them here. This time we ordered 4 Brulés before heading upstairs for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised that they had live music up there. A singer named Robert Lee played guitar and harmonica and sang everything from country to Pink Floyd to Fleetwood Mac. He had a beautiful voice and was very entertaining. We will definitely be looking to see him play again. This time I had the Apple Pecan salad, of course, and the Salsa Blanc pizza with sweet Italian sausage made into a calzone. This was an excellent pizza EXCEPT they forgot the sausage and there was at least 20 big cloves of roasted garlic packed into that calzone. WAY too much, if you ask me. One of our friends had the Grilled Deluxe Cheese Melt and he said it was amazing. I give this place 5 stars for delicious, fresh ingredients, the servers are extremely friendly and we got our food fairly quickly. The only down sides, in my opinion, is since it's a small venue it can get really loud, and the service on Friday night left us a little disappointed. Again, our order was a little messed up and our server (who I believe was the manager) should stick to managing. He was super nice but he had a lot of irons in the fire and waiting tables is not what he should be doing. Other than that, we WILL be going back because there are so many more items on their menu that I can't wait to try.

GREAT STOP There are…read moresome rules to follow when on a road trip especially with pit stops. Is the location easy to get to off and back onto the highway? Does it have cheap gas? Does it have snacks? Does it have a bathroom? These are the essential fundamentals of every good stop. I will tell you that this location covers all of those important bases. We were heading towards Chattanooga and I saw the gas advertised for $2.32 which was a great price. I'm glad I stopped because every gas station after that was almost 20 cents higher. I was really happy with the price we got for the gas, in fact it was the cheapest gas we got since starting in Chicago. This place is right off of the Highway which makes for a super fast pit stop. I don't want to drive more then a mile off of the exit because that just adds a ton of time to the drive especially with stop lights. While I was filling up the gas there was a giant poster advertising "Hand Rolled Burritos"! What? Come on! The girls went in first to the bathroom and reported back to me that they didn't see any hand rolling going on. What? Could the poster be all lies? When I went in to use the bathroom I saw about 6 burritos wrapped and sitting in the warmer, so they were ready to grab and go but no live hand rolling was seen. I did see one of the cook's in the Speedy Cafe actually making a pizza by hand. I thought to myself that was much better then a frozen microwave pizza. I didn't order any food because I typically don't order any of that stuff in a gas station. I've been tempted by the roller Dogs at many gas stations but I've held strong to not order them. This place has a giant Beer Cave which is literally cool but not when you're driving. So if your are local then stop in and grab your drink here. I was impressed by the soda machine. I don't drink pop anymore but was amazed with the sizes of the cups. I saw a giant 54 ouncer ready to be filled with soda or a slurpee. That's a lot of liquid. If I drank that if be stopping at the next rest area up the road. I will say that the Men's bathroom did have the smell of a urine filled subway station. I'd recommend a bleach dousing in here. Anyone listening on staff. I'd highly recommend you treat this room as a "Dateline" episode where you're trying to cover up a crime. This place is a great stop for some cheap gas. You'll be off and on the highway in no time at all. I love it when a plan comes together.
