Typical casual Dominican eatery. Food, portion sizes and prices are good. Large variety of food is already made plus additional dishes that can be made to-order. For food made to-order, I would recommend calling in your order at least 30 minutes before going to pick it up since they are usually busy and it takes quite some time. I did not have an issue with it, but last time I was there, various orders were mixed up so I suggest checking your packed food before you leave. As with any Dominican place, some dishes are too salty for my liking (carne guisada). The grillecd chicken is usually good but the last time I ordered it was also too salty. Their Dominican cake, on the other hand, is amazing! (and that is coming from someone who is veeeery particular about their Dominican cake. Most importantly, the servers either don't understand or speak English therefore they lose patience when you ask questions about the food and pricing. It's so much to say about this place idk where to start. 1st. The food is great, but like so many places they suffer from thinking the food alone can carry them. 2nd. If you want to order my biggest suggestion is going to the place, because if you order online for either pick up or delivery something will undoubtedly go wrong. Every time i order they miss something or mess up something. And if you order and they don't have something, they will just cancel the order and not say anything. Their phone never works and The organization is bottom tier. Lines are always long and not because a lot or people order, it's because the multi tasking is terrible. 1 star for service. We sat for 15 minutes waiting for someone to help us. when no one did I got up and I asked for someone to help us , someone came and gave us menus and we ordered. There was two wifis, one was a guest wifi, the waitress did not know the password and when we asked if she can find out she said she didn't know. She was very unengaging and not friendly. After we ate we waited another 15 mins and eventually I gave up and got up and asked someone if I can get the check. She came and I gave her my credit card to pay with she came back and gave me back my credit card with the receipt and waited for me to sign it and put a tip on it to give it back. During this whole time there was barely anyone in the restaurant and all the workers were just on their cell phones. I would give the food 2 stars there was barely any shrimp and a bunch of rice. The food is immaculate, huge portions, decent priced. Grilled shrimp, bbq chicken and salmon is my personal fav. They are always busy so calling ahead to place your order is ideal. Ordered Grilled Shrimp and Chicken w/White Rice and Stewed Chicken w/White Rice; paid for but didn't receive the chicken in the combo order..only shrimp w/rice. The white rice is bland...I understand they don't use pork so they don't put salted pork in the rice like most spanish restaurants but they could at least put a little oil and salt to give it a little taste. The Stewed chicken was just ok...the dark meat was moist but the white meat was dry. Won't be spending money here anymore as this is not the first time food has been less than satisfying. read more

I don't have anything bad to say about this place. The food has been solid each time. The stew chicken with rice and beans are pretty good, but my favorite thus far is the grilled shrimp. I loved the blackened charcoal taste. The tres leches cake is on the average side, but the fruit juices are good. As I was feeding myself and my toddler food from this establishment I bought the evening of January 2nd 2020, I discovered some extremely hard pieces in my mouth while chewing. I immediately spit out the food to discover a glass pebble in the mixture of chewed food. I called the establishment and the woman, chuckled and told me she doesn't believe there was a piece of glass in my food. I informed her that her reaction was unprofessional and lack of concern for my son, myself, and the public safety will be the reason for me reporting this establishment to the proper authority, she told me to do what I want. Good food. Steak is supper soft and tender. Flavored well. I also like the grill chicken with BBQ sauce. Their plates are $9 but they give you more than enough (you'll definitely be full afterwards). In town from D.C. and went to this restaurant for take out while walking to my hotel on Tuesday night. The server that was fulfilling my order was awesome! Her energy was great and she was warm. She asked if I wanted gravy on my chicken, asked if I needed anything else, and won me over as a new customer to come back again. There were two other workers dancing to some game on the side. Though some may argue that is a bit much and ghetto, I found it to be welcoming. I went back the following evening, to a whole new set of people. This time the server is an older woman who saw me at the door, starred at me, and took about 60 seconds before she decided to entertain me. When she approached she said "What do you want?" I asked if they had the same rice that I ate the previous night (rice and peas) since I did not visibly see it. She uttered something about two other rices. I honestly couldn't make out what she was saying because of her low tone and the barrier of the mask. I asked her again and she pretty much raised her voice and said "I only got yellow and white rice. That's it." She fills my order and when putting the baked chicken on the rice she began to drenched it with gravy. I spoke up "No gravy, you should have asked." That is because the previous night the young lady did. But because this woman had an attitude for whatever reason, she is doing whatever she wants to do and forgetting about the customer. When I go to pay for the food, silence. The young lady tells me my total, which was $10.50. I hand her a $20 bill. She returns to me $11.50. This establishment, placed right in the hood of East Orange, NJ, clearly understands the urban environment and the need to sustain our "people" with nutrition. This approach when coupled with a nasty attitude, makes it very difficult to appreciate the business as a whole. Since my experience was different on two occasions, it is safe to say that this business will only do right by you depending on who is serving you for the day. Before I left out, I wanted asked politely for the business card that I have seen on display. This same woman starred at me when I was trying to get further assistance and literally looked at me and said "What?" Short and cold. Uncalled for and disrespectful. I asked for the card and then asked for the Manager's name. And then, she was able to articulate with a clear tone that is understandable. I am disgusted by how this ended. Whereas, I was ready to write a great review based on my first night, to return the following evening and be left with a sour taste in my mouth...compels me to warn the citizens of East Orange (which by the way I am a native of), DO NOT support this operation. When I called they assured me it would be rectified. 25 minutes later I did not have my food. When I called back I was politely informed that because the driver had not returned with my food, they would not replace it. This place has lost a customer. They are beyond rude and the food I received today was utterly disgusting. Ordered 2 orders of bbq salmon and shrimp. When my order arrived it smelled my kitchen up with a funky seafood smell. I opened it and the fish was hard and rubbery and it literally broke up into tiny hard crumbly pieces soon as the fork hit it. I couldn't pick up one piece with my fork without it crumbling and rolling off. The smell left nothing to be desired. Seafood should not stink ever. I called and the guy was rude as hell. I would give this a NEGATIVE RATING if I could. I've been going to DOMINY, since a coworker told me about the place last summer. Their customer service has been HORRIBLE since the beginning and I've ignored the bad manners. It's a cheap place to get a hot meal; I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I told myself it was because they can't speak English, but no; they're just MEAN, RUDE people. If the Asian lady at my favorite Chinese restaurant (who barely speaks English) can smile and say thank you, so can they. The last time I was there it was the usual STANK service. They act like they're doing you a favor serving you. The girl "dropped" my change in my hand and didn't say thank you (not the 1st time this happened). I'M JUST DONE!! This place is the worst!!! I've eaten here before and the food has been ok. First of all they charge more fees for using your card than they take on taxes. The fee for them having and using a card machine is passed on to the consumers which may be illegal. I'll check! I ordered the most expensive shrimp dinner on the menu and 1 server told me it was 12 shrimp but when it came out it changed to 10. Oh yeah it was supposed to be in garlic butter but it looked like grease! With the meal you get rice and veg or rice and beans. My wife only wanted rice and because the vegs were old and looked right out the can I took a small side salad ( which I thought was a veg?) instead. When the girl rang it up she charged me for a $3 salad that doesn't come with it and $1 extra for 4 pc of plantain. Here's the problem you over charge me for the meal that had no substitutes, and not 2 minutes earlier a young spanish girl who ordered after me got 5 or 6 pc of plantain on 3 meals she ordered her way and did not pay extra which is why I told them to put a few in with my order. Their explanations was it cost extra for salad to be in a separate container(other than with the hot food you ordered), plantain is extra in an order( cool give me 6 or 7 pcs too), and the fees were just part of their business practices( bullsh**). The price of this meal doesn't kill me but being mislead and taking advantage of which is their everyday practice burns me the f*ck up! After dealing with the server and owner I'm done! You think they would try to do right by a customer not giving back money but the thought of better treatment next time or offering me a cheap soda or something of little too no value that would help smooth over this dispute but give me a feeling of customers worth.
