    Virgin pina coladas

I have been here for my birthday and also for a Date and that was about 2 years apart and this place still is thriving . The customer service was great . Always clean and friendly, I love the pictures on the wall it reminds me of my mother so much. The food per usual was very fresh and delicious and I will definitely go back soon! And the drink deal 2 for $20 is definitely worth it , the virgin pina coladas were everything!!

Delicious Sancocho Stew on a September Sunday, for a taste of Puerto Rico! Delicious food, friendly staff and a happy atmosphere. Lots of Puerto Rican pride and awesome vibe with locals.

Started the meal with Alcappuria de masa .( Banana fritter stuffed with meat) they also had all the staples. mofongo, arroz con gandules, relleno de papa, chicharrón de pollo. A den of delicacies. Authentic Puerto Rican styled cooking with a great ambiance. Waitress was accommodating even with our party of 10. Reasonably priced and the portions were more than enough. A gem in Newark

I asked for white rice and beans with the pernil I guess it doesng matter what their customers want. The bistec was hard to chew and flavorless. What an awful representation of Puerto Rican food

Food was delicious, I had the bistec guisado (stewed beef ) with white rice, beans and tostones and I need the biggest nap right now. Beans tasted like my grandma's but like with a lil extra something (don't tell her I said that) rice was super flufy and the beef made me feel like a kid sitting at the kitchen table waiting for my grandma to give me some pegao. Delicious Puerto rican food done right! It was super busy since they just had the grand opening last night. The layout is a little weird since all of these people were just standing around us waiting for their takeout while I was eating. Not a big deal though as that will most likely get sorted out soon. I'll be back really soon folks I look forward to years of good food. Thanks for a great meal and good luck.

If you really think about it the Dominican food has taken over the Bx. I searched, and found this place. The moment you step in you are greeted with the warmest blessings. The 2 beautiful people that worked there made our time there so memorable. The food was out of this world let me tell you. Also, I will say it is AFFORDABLE. portion size was huge and the place was so CLEAN. Food: Pernil: 10/10 flavorful and tender Yellow (arroz con gandules) and Black rice with the beans: 10/10 both were good and couldn't even decide which one was better Pulpo 9/10 : fresh and tangy, cut into small pieces so you can top it on your rice Alcapurrias: 8/10 great and made differently then what I'm used to but it was sooo good I'd come again for this alone Juices: Ask them to try the juices and they will let you. We tried it all. Came home with passion fruit (parcha) and guyaba (guanabana) Delicious 10/10 It was so fresh and they don't add too much ice so you get all the juice taste. All in all I'm coming here from now on. A true BX staple for the community and a true essence of the Bori pride resides here. If you miss PR, come here.

The chicken was tender and delicious, and the pernil was flavorful, juicy, and tasted fresh. You really can't go wrong with pernil at a good Puerto Rican restaurant--it's one of those dishes that never disappoints when it's done right. Unfortunately, the second visit was a completely different experience. The food was much too greasy, and it tasted as though it had been cooked in old oil. By the third visit, the food just didn't have the same flavor or quality as it did the first time. Because of those inconsistent experiences, when my fiancé asked if I wanted to go back, I decided to pass. It's disappointing because our first visit was so good, but I need consistency to want to keep coming back.

The potato salad was smooth with some chunks of potatoes and a light crunch from the veggies. My favorite was the beans that pair perfectly with the rice and meat! All this for only $12!!! Wow! I highly recommend it. I also tried their beef empanadas. They were excellent. They're fried to order and homemade. There's a lot of filling and the beef inside is perfectly seasoned. The last time I had empanadas this good was at my Puerto Rican friend's house where his grandma made them! A close second was in Rincon, Puerto Rico. These are that good. They're a must try.
