We were looking for a divey spot to grab a drink that was also close to our AirBnB. Dom's fit the bill and it looked pretty new so we decided to check it out. Turns out they've only been open a few months. The place was busy on a friday night but we snagged a couple seats at the end of the bar. They had pool and real dart boards that stayed occupied all night and the crowd was friendly. The two bartenders were great and always quick with a fresh drink. If I lived nearby, this would definitely be a staple for me. I would say my only complaint was that the lights were too bright for a bar at this time of night. maybe dim it down after 8pm.

Dom's Dive Bar on South Blvd might just be the most "not-trying-too-hard" bar I've been to in a while, and honestly... that's kind of its charm. It's tucked into the same strip mall as Goldie's Live Music Bar, which means you can have dinner here, then stumble next door for a concert without ever crossing the street. Parking was a breeze at 7pm on a Sunday, which felt like winning the Charlotte lottery. Inside, Dom's is giving big-time neighborhood bar energy. You've got a pinball machine in the corner daring you to waste your beer money one quarter at a time, a pool table that looks like it's witnessed more than a few relationship-ending games of eight-ball, and darts for anyone willing to risk their life by standing within ten feet of the board. There's outdoor seating in the front for people who want to drink with a view of South Blvd traffic... a.k.a. free entertainment. My bartender for the night was Justin, who was the perfect combo of welcoming and genuinely fun to talk to. I went with my go-to order: a Diet Pepsi with grenadine. Yes, Pepsi... they don't serve Coke here, so if you're a Coke loyalist, prepare to adjust your expectations. Food-wise, I started with the Barbalo chicken wings and a side of blue cheese. The Barbalo sauce packed a little more heat than my spice-wimp self usually handles, but I powered through with the help of that dressing. The wings themselves were a perfect "not puny, not prehistoric" size and expertly coated in sauce. I would've loved them a bit crispier, but with how saucy they were, I get why they leaned more tender. The blue cheese dressing? Needs a little glow-up. I'm a sucker for a chunky blue cheese with actual crumbles, and this one was smooth all the way through. On the plus side, I asked them to skip the celery to cut down on food waste, so points for that. Then came the brisket dip, a mix of chopped brisket, cream cheese, cheddar jack, green onion, BBQ sauce, and Cajun seasoning, served with kettle chips. The brisket had great flavor, almost like sweet smoked pastrami, and the dip was loaded with green onions (so many that I had to scoop a few off). It could've been hotter, since the cheddar jack shreds on top weren't melted, but maybe that was intentional. I was expecting some heat from the Cajun seasoning, but this leaned more Thousand Island than spicy. Also, I'm 99% sure the chips aren't house-made, which is a shame because that could've taken this from "good" to "dang, I need another round." Still, the bones of a great bar snack are there. This wasn't my first rodeo at Dom's. My first visit was on the recommendation of the owner, Matt, who insisted I try their Italian sub. He was tired of the sad excuse for Italian subs around Charlotte, so he did some R&D and nailed it... solid meat-to-cheese ratio on a great hoagie roll that's lightly toasted. I like mine with a little more crunch, and Matt said you can totally request it toasted longer or not at all. That day, I upgraded from chips to a small cup of brisket chili topped with sour cream and cheese. The cup was tiny enough that mixing in the toppings felt like a game of edible Jenga, but the chili itself was hearty, flavorful, and mild. All in all, Dom's feels like the kind of place you could wander into once and then end up a regular without even trying. Between the easy parking, the friendly bartenders, the wings worth messy fingers, and the Italian sub with actual effort behind it, this spot's doing a lot right... it just has a couple things that could go from good to great with small tweaks. Going to first address the elephant in the room. This place is not a dive bar. You can't just open a bar and name it a dive bar. A dive bar is something that acquires its reputation over the years. This place is brand new, it is clean, and has a lot of nice TVs on the wall. It is not a dive bar. That being said, it is a really cool neighborhood bar, with cheap beer, darts, and pool. I came in with a buddy to watch basketball and we had a really good time. It is located next to Goldie's in a shopping center along South Boulevard, and while the space seems small, they make the most of it with a decent sized bar and seating. This is definitely the type of place I'd come in with some buddies to hang and grab some beers.

This is Jim. He's pretty cool.

You want a dive bar? You got a f***in dive bar. Cold beer, mildly attractive bartenders, and a goose that you're gonna want to take shots with. What more could you ask for? Solid food and good company. Sign me up. 11/10. Also, that's Jim. He does awesome things and also runs a food truck!

It is not fake, so we said we would call the police because we need the ID back and he was refusing to return it. He walked away scanned it at the bar, came back and admitted that yes, it is real but that he still could not let us in. Fair enough, they have a right to refuse service. Asked for ID back, bouncer accused me of touching him and wanting to fight. That also was not true and a separate patron nearby even said "he isn't touching you, or raising his voice". Bouncer tried goading me into doing something stupid a couple more times then finally relented and gave the ID back. Wish I could give a more fair review to this place, but when you have a bouncer who doesn't know how to do his job and starts freaking out on patrons for no reason it's rather difficult to ever get an idea about the joint.

Tucked away in the back of a strip mall off Park Road next to the Shitty Kitty (IYKYK), this place has all the ingredients for becoming your new local favorite. It's low-lit, clean, has a cool mural inside, plenty of parking, and the A/C was working overtime on a 95-degree day--which honestly deserves its own five-star review. The staff was phenomenal. We came with friends who stop in every Saturday, and the bartender essentially already had their drinks in mind before they even sat down. I love seeing that kind of neighborhood feel where regulars are treated like family, but newcomers are welcomed just the same. The pours were generous (which is always appreciated), and the burgers were banging. The fries were solid too... personally, I like mine a little thinner, but that's purely preference, not a complaint, and I ordered them extra crispy... they delivered! Everything came out hot and exactly as ordered. My only "complaint" (and it's more of a funny observation than anything) came courtesy of the men's room. Apparently they're very serious about conserving toilet paper or the men's bathroom wanting to be used in that capacity because, according to my boyfriend and our friend (who went to investigate after we couldn't stop laughing), you would definitely have to lift from the toilet seat to reach the roll. We got a good laugh out of that one. All good from the women's room tho! Haha! This is the kind of place you stop into once and find yourself wanting to come back. Great people, great vibes, cold A/C (on the HOTTEST DAYS), heavy pours, and burgers worth the trip. I'll definitely be back!

The music was a great mix of old school millennial classics such as T-Pain and even Eminem. But also played new songs. The place was kind of empty but that was expected. There were about 20-25 people there all together. Everyone was so nice and having a good time. There's pool tables, beer pong tables, and different areas to hang out. There's a whole lot of hype out there about this place…read more Sadly, in my humble opinion, it's a bit overblown. I was pleased to hear they are opening a location in beautiful downtown Fort Mill so I had to go check it out to see for myself. I called in an order right at 11am on a Friday when they opened. I ordered a chicken and beef burrito and the special which was 3 birria tacos. I waned to add lettuce, tomato and cheese to the tacos and was told I could not do it, not allowed, Brittani told me. When I got home I discovered that instead of the beef burrito, I got a bean burrito so I was very disappointed. Yes they are PHAT, yes they are pricey! As far as the food quality, I can't even go 4 stars. The salsa was tasty, nice & thick but the & chips were just meh. They were served cold & lacked flavor. The dining room is nice. I especially like all the original art work on the walls. Most of it is impressionist style of old CLT street scenes like Prices Chicken Coop which has been gone for a while. Parking is a BIG challenge as there is no dedicated parking lot, only limited street parking and since it's adjacent to other business AND a large condo/apartment complex it's even more of a challenge. The chicken burrito has gone up to $14.50, that's $4.50 more than a year ago.
