We were looking for a divey spot to grab a drink that was also close to our AirBnB. Dom's fit the bill and it looked pretty new so we decided to check it out. Turns out they've only been open a few months. The place was busy on a friday night but we snagged a couple seats at the end of the bar. They had pool and real dart boards that stayed occupied all night and the crowd was friendly. The two bartenders were great and always quick with a fresh drink. If I lived nearby, this would definitely be a staple for me. I would say my only complaint was that the lights were too bright for a bar at this time of night. maybe dim it down after 8pm.

Dom's Dive Bar on South Blvd might just be the most "not-trying-too-hard" bar I've been to in a while, and honestly... that's kind of its charm. It's tucked into the same strip mall as Goldie's Live Music Bar, which means you can have dinner here, then stumble next door for a concert without ever crossing the street. Parking was a breeze at 7pm on a Sunday, which felt like winning the Charlotte lottery. Inside, Dom's is giving big-time neighborhood bar energy. You've got a pinball machine in the corner daring you to waste your beer money one quarter at a time, a pool table that looks like it's witnessed more than a few relationship-ending games of eight-ball, and darts for anyone willing to risk their life by standing within ten feet of the board. There's outdoor seating in the front for people who want to drink with a view of South Blvd traffic... a.k.a. free entertainment. My bartender for the night was Justin, who was the perfect combo of welcoming and genuinely fun to talk to. I went with my go-to order: a Diet Pepsi with grenadine. Yes, Pepsi... they don't serve Coke here, so if you're a Coke loyalist, prepare to adjust your expectations. Food-wise, I started with the Barbalo chicken wings and a side of blue cheese. The Barbalo sauce packed a little more heat than my spice-wimp self usually handles, but I powered through with the help of that dressing. The wings themselves were a perfect "not puny, not prehistoric" size and expertly coated in sauce. I would've loved them a bit crispier, but with how saucy they were, I get why they leaned more tender. The blue cheese dressing? Needs a little glow-up. I'm a sucker for a chunky blue cheese with actual crumbles, and this one was smooth all the way through. On the plus side, I asked them to skip the celery to cut down on food waste, so points for that. Then came the brisket dip, a mix of chopped brisket, cream cheese, cheddar jack, green onion, BBQ sauce, and Cajun seasoning, served with kettle chips. The brisket had great flavor, almost like sweet smoked pastrami, and the dip was loaded with green onions (so many that I had to scoop a few off). It could've been hotter, since the cheddar jack shreds on top weren't melted, but maybe that was intentional. I was expecting some heat from the Cajun seasoning, but this leaned more Thousand Island than spicy. Also, I'm 99% sure the chips aren't house-made, which is a shame because that could've taken this from "good" to "dang, I need another round." Still, the bones of a great bar snack are there. This wasn't my first rodeo at Dom's. My first visit was on the recommendation of the owner, Matt, who insisted I try their Italian sub. He was tired of the sad excuse for Italian subs around Charlotte, so he did some R&D and nailed it... solid meat-to-cheese ratio on a great hoagie roll that's lightly toasted. I like mine with a little more crunch, and Matt said you can totally request it toasted longer or not at all. That day, I upgraded from chips to a small cup of brisket chili topped with sour cream and cheese. The cup was tiny enough that mixing in the toppings felt like a game of edible Jenga, but the chili itself was hearty, flavorful, and mild. All in all, Dom's feels like the kind of place you could wander into once and then end up a regular without even trying. Between the easy parking, the friendly bartenders, the wings worth messy fingers, and the Italian sub with actual effort behind it, this spot's doing a lot right... it just has a couple things that could go from good to great with small tweaks. Going to first address the elephant in the room. This place is not a dive bar. You can't just open a bar and name it a dive bar. A dive bar is something that acquires its reputation over the years. This place is brand new, it is clean, and has a lot of nice TVs on the wall. It is not a dive bar. That being said, it is a really cool neighborhood bar, with cheap beer, darts, and pool. I came in with a buddy to watch basketball and we had a really good time. It is located next to Goldie's in a shopping center along South Boulevard, and while the space seems small, they make the most of it with a decent sized bar and seating. This is definitely the type of place I'd come in with some buddies to hang and grab some beers.

This is Jim. He's pretty cool.

You want a dive bar? You got a f***in dive bar. Cold beer, mildly attractive bartenders, and a goose that you're gonna want to take shots with. What more could you ask for? Solid food and good company. Sign me up. 11/10. Also, that's Jim. He does awesome things and also runs a food truck!

We went across the street and they didn't allow dogs on the patio so a quick Yelp search led us to Jack Beagles. With a dog in the name, I figured it would be dog friendly and I was right... it's event dog friendly inside which was great since we had the baby and it was hot out. They were happy to seat us in the dining room and since breakfast was about to end and lunch was about to start, we had the option of both. Some ordered breakfast and a few of us order the tenders because our server said it was one of the most popular items. I don't normally go for tenders at a new place, but they had garlic parm which drew me in. They were pretty great and served with waffle fries. My buddy got this massive burger that I was eyeing as well and I had a little bit of food envy when it came out. It was called The Big Bear and was sporting 2 Patties, 2 X Bacon, 2 x White American Cheese, Pickled Jalapeno, and Chipotle Aioli. I would definitely try that next time. Only odd thing was that when the burger came out, my buddy asked for a knife other than a butter knife to cut it since it was so big. Instead of offering to bring it to the kitchen to cut it, she came out from the back to say they don't have any steak knives and the only sharp ones are with the cook. No big deal, but a little odd. Anyway, we had a great lunch before hitting the road that accommodated all of our needs.

Just go to Noda and they will take care of you, actually speak and provide efficient service!

Luckily we snagged a spot and walked over to the lake area. We were seated quickly and our server took drink orders and gave us a chance to review the large menu. There is lots to choose from but, we decided on shrimp tacos. We tried the chipotle tacos and the grilled shrimp tacos. Both were very good. You get a choice of sides, and we tried the Mexican street corn salad and the Mac and cheese. I wasn't a huge fan of the corn salad. It was served cold, but I wasn't really a fan of the taste. The Mac and cheese looked creamy and gooey and was told it was really good. Next time I will order a different side. The atmosphere here is bright and lively with a nice view of the water where you can take paddle boat rides. People love to walk over here, so it is nice to have an open view. The restaurant has a tiki bar vibe and has surfing theme throughout the place. Really fun and relaxing. This is a great stop if you are in the area, expect to circle the lot a bit on the weekends, but the food and atmosphere are great here. We will definitely return to Boardwalk Billy's.

We started with the deviled eggs, which were not too creamy and very well spiced. We then ordered cranberry mimosas, a chicken and waffle, an a veggie omelet. The cranberry mimosas were so fun because we got to make them ourselves! The chicken and waffle was ok- I requested gravy on the side but it certainly needed the sauce. The waffle was a little dry and the chicken was average. The veggie omelet was excellent and I enjoyed the fillings. I'm not a potato fan, but my friend enjoyed the potatoes. The biscuit was standard too but complemented the veggie omelet well. I'd say the star of the show were the fried French toast sticks- they were hot, sweet, and hit the spot perfectly. If I came back to Whiskey Warehouse, I'd choose the deviled eggs, French toast sticks, and mimosas.
