Nice spot for a quick, small and affordable bite. I stopped by with several friends on a Sunday around 730pm and ordered the street tacos (chicken) and a Phat margarita (Sunday special $5). My friends got multiple burritos (Cali was a hit). Service was fast and friendly, our orders came out quickly and were brought to our picnic table outside. I enjoyed the margarita- flavorful, and you can't beat the price- but the tacos were a bit dry, bland, so I added some hot sauces which did the trick. There's a whole lot of hype out there about this place. Sadly, in my humble opinion, it's a bit overblown. I was pleased to hear they are opening a location in beautiful downtown Fort Mill so I had to go check it out to see for myself. I called in an order right at 11am on a Friday when they opened. I ordered a chicken and beef burrito and the special which was 3 birria tacos. I waned to add lettuce, tomato and cheese to the tacos and was told I could not do it, not allowed, Brittani told me. When I got home I discovered that instead of the beef burrito, I got a bean burrito so I was very disappointed. Yes they are PHAT, yes they are pricey! As far as the food quality, I can't even go 4 stars. The salsa was tasty, nice & thick but the & chips were just meh. They were served cold & lacked flavor. The dining room is nice. I especially like all the original art work on the walls. Most of it is impressionist style of old CLT street scenes like Prices Chicken Coop which has been gone for a while. Parking is a BIG challenge as there is no dedicated parking lot, only limited street parking and since it's adjacent to other business AND a large condo/apartment complex it's even more of a challenge. Phat is back!!! So full disclosure: I used to live in the building next to Phat Burrito (before it turned into Flowerchild) so I was a regular. I do miss the charm of "Charlotte past" since PB was a trailblazer in the Southend area. This return to "lower Southend" was very welcome to me and, though I miss the bars on the window, I'm glad they are making their space their own. The staff is super friendly. If you dine in, you are given a table number that you prop up on the paper towel holder at the table and the food is brought to you when it is ready. This new location has some nice booths and even outdoor seating. With all the new apartment buildings coming online, I'm sure parking is going to be a thing, but for now, there's plenty of street parking on Tryclan Drive and Dewitt Ln. I'm usually a burrito guy but decided on a salad for this particular visit. The salad was ginormous and I ended up taking it home for another meal later in the evening. Staff buses the tables (which I felt self conscious about becuase I usually like to clear my own table). There's also a station to grab silverware and a variety of hot sauces to use on your meal. I did end up returning the hot sauce to the hot sauce station in an effort to help out the table bussing :) Aside from the tables in the dining area, there is a bar area, full bar and TVs to watch various sporting events. We all loved hearing the news that Phat Burrito is coming back and let me tell you, I am so happy it's back! The food is just still sooooo good! The burrito is huge (phat), the salsas were delicious, Hot is actually Hot! And that empanada with the green sauce was everything! I also tried the quesadilla and they were just as good. It's self service but you can also order through a QR code, there is a full bar and drinks in cans in a fridge. The outside patio is a nice add and can't wait to see out there on a warm day! More like 'Half Burrito'. Used to enjoy the original hole-in-the-wall location back when. Today, only the name remains at this restaurant. Seriously, the burrito is only half the size, and takes longer to prepare. Birria is no longer an option, I was told it was no longer available. And, keep your cash in your pocket, they don't accept it, only cards and phone taps. Food was okay. Chips were limited, as was the amount of salsa served. For the prices, you can get a lot more food at Moe's or any Mexican restaurant in town. read more

I finally got around to trying Phat Burrito and it was just okay to me. My sisters have been raving about this place since they've opened. The customer service is great! (Like I literally thought one employee was the owner how above and beyond he goes.) It wasn't really crowded during lunch time on a Sunday and has a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the chicken burrito and hubby ordered the steak burrito. It actually comes with four toppings not two. I asked for queso, sour cream rice and pico inside of mine. Unfortunately, about half way through I realized the queso was forgotten. The chips and guacamole were good. I ended up opening it and adding guacamole inside because it just didn't have enough flavor for me. The salsa is more smoky than spicy. Hubby said mine would have been better if the queso was on it.... Since queso and guacamole are premium toppings, If I go back I'll get queso and chips on the side and add the guacamole to my burrito. read more

They also forgot 2 side sauces and jalapeños on the side, and instead had the jalapeños chopped up inside the burrito. Also got a chicken quesadilla, but both the burrito and quesadilla were just barely "eh". Came to Phat Burrito today as it was suggested to me by a friend. I love Mexican food so I was eager to try this place. We were served by Rashad who kindly gave us suggestions. After looking at the menu, I decided to get the chicken salad which came out to about $14. There's lettuce, pico de gallo, brand, rice, corn, cheese and cucumbers. It was so much food and very delicious. I went on a Sunday afternoon and there was a decent amount of people eating indoors and outdoors. It's in a great location with other places to eat and a Pilates studio next door. I will certainly be back to try other menu items! read more

First time trying Phat Burrito and I must say I am very pleased! I ordered the BBQ Chicken PHAT Quesadillas with grilled bell peppers and jalapeños and the Shrimp & Crab Empanada. They were so yummy! The sauce that came with the Shrimp & Crab Empanada stole the show, it's so tasty! But I must say this, I don't eat beef or pork and there was a piece of beef found in the quesadillas. So when I originally moved to Southend Phat Burrito was in its final days. A lot of people were sad to see them go. I only tried them on a couple occasions and I remember having mixed experiences with the food. From what people had told me they sort of declined towards the end which unfortunately isn't uncommon with restaurants. There was a lot of buzz when it was announced that they were making a comeback in the growing area controversially referred to as "LoSo". I was very intrigued to revisit what was once considered a Charlotte classic and so on a Friday I decided to come in with some coworkers for lunch. I do not get any joy out of giving negative reviews but I have to say my quesadilla was practically inedible. A good quesadilla should be pressed in a grill giving it a nice crisp. What I received was soggy and covered in grease that you could watch drip off every time you picked it up. When I picked it up it flopped like a piece of pizza and I am almost certain it never saw a grill and was heated up in the microwave as the cheese and chicken just had a rubbery texture. The chicken wasn't very flavorful something that my coworkers remarked upon in their food as well. Truthfully I think I could have made a better one at home. I will say that the burritos and tacos looked better so I am not writing this place off completely. I would not order the quesadilla again, the quesadilla you can get at Qdoba is far superior. My recommendation to the owners would be to invest in some quesadilla press grills or else I would remove this item from the menu. read more

My husband and I have been looking for a handheld burrito since we moved to Charlotte. We tried this place tonight and it was phenomenal!! The prices seemed a bit high, but then I was served... the portions are well worth the prices and the food is so good!!! The ingredients are fresh and flavorful. The service was awesome and fast! They also had some pretty cool music playing while I was there. My one year old was even jammin while eating his quesadilla! Brings me back to the heyday of Phat Burrito in South End. There's no question they fell off towards the end but I'm happy to say the revival brings it back to when it was delish. I got a steak burrito with chips and all of it was great. Not too big, not too small, just the right size and considering they JUST opened, the service was fast as well. I had only heard about Phat Burrito and then when I heard they were coming back I was excited to give them a try and boy was I glad!! I have tried a couple of the burritos at this point and keep going back to the BBQ Chicken with Black Beans, Pico and their Green Sauce. I also love that you can get a bit bag of chips and more salsa. They also have fun desserts! Easy to order, easy to pick up, parking is a little scare depending on time of the day, but you will always find a place to park. Great Service and fun new theme! They were very nice though. Nothing like the old version. No Stephen. No V. Just not the same. Ordering ahead may be the way to go. Ordered a chicken burrito to go. Got home and it was tofu with zucchini etc so not even what I wanted. Live in Waxhaw so not worth the drive back. Food overall seems similar but not as good as it used to be. We were in search of somewhere to eat for cinco de mayo. We were put on a waitlist at 2 different places both for a 2 hour wait, so we stumbled across Phat Buritto nearby, which was just as busy- yet we only waited in line about 20 minutes before ordering. While siting on the patio enjoying our drinks, the manager came out and gave the 4 of us complimentary beers for the wait. He was super friendly and the customer service was top tier- despite the holiday rush. The food was also amazing and the drinks were tasty and reasonable priced. I went here after all the social media videos and reviews and I would have to say it was very mediocre especially for the price! $17 for a chicken burrito that is advertised on the menu you'd be receiving chips and salsa but according to the cashier it only offered to dine in customers, which is absurd (this is advertised no where in the restaurant) Also note, that the same cashier was cold towards my guest and I when we walked in first before another couple, she explained their special of the day and was conversing and seemed very concerned with that party. I LOVE THIS PLACE!! We got the Steak Nachos that were A-MAZING!!! They were a huge portion size came fully loaded. Meat was super flavorful, succulent & fresh! The cheese wasn't scarce and the Margarita was delicious. We WILL be back! Also, the new remodel is a super cute interior!! Their service is super friendly and attentive!
