More of a club tonight than a sports bar. My husband and the fellas checked out this spot a week ago and he wanted me to try a particular flavor of wings that he enjoyed. This spot is conveniently located in the up and coming area of South End and literally at a light rail station. There was a private party on the outdoor patio on the third floor so we couldn't sit outside and get the view of the city that's a big appeal for this spot. We were greeted by what felt like a bouncer who checked IDs immediately after getting off of the elevator. Our server was ok...she was kind of quiet but after watching her interact with other tables, I determined it was just her personality. Hubby and I both had wings; he had sweet chili and I tried the honey old bay that he raved about. We shared garlic Parmesan fries. The wings are really good...flavorful and cooked to perfection. The fries were also tasty. There are two reasons why I rated this spot a four versus a five. First, they have to fix their condensation issue with the AC. Several vents were dripping onto tables. With North Carolina summer temps putting demands on AC units, this is a must fix issue. My drink (a French 75 with vodka rather than gin) was fine but hubby did not really enjoy his Old Fashioned and ended up switching to a beer. Will I go back? Absolutely! They had a lot of reserved tables but still had plenty of places to sit without reservations. The drinks were good and we ordered wings and salads and all were good as well. Came here for the Tar Heel v Blue Devil game. Definitely was packed and had to wait but the screens had the games playing and made the time fly by. One Saturday afternoon we headed to Platform to see what the hype was about. It's in a great location and the tvs are enormous. We ordered a few drinks. One of the drinks, a spicy grapefruit concoction, was quite literally the worst drink ever made in the history of mixology. Hopefully, they'll take it off the menu soon. A group and I came to platform to watch the World Cup game. We sat at a table that was not reserved, the table was never properly cleaned even though a worker said they would clean it. Two tvs were broken and not working. Workers never came around yet a 18% service charge is added to every bill. The food was good but took a significant amount of time to come out. We also got a chance to meet the head chef. He told us about his experience and how its been opening Platform Sports. The balcony is scheduled to open later this month. Platform was a really fun sports bar, and a great place to watch a day of football! I loved the outdoor seating area, which was perfect for a beautiful fall day. The indoor aspect wasn't quite as unique, but still served as an awesome sports bar environment. All of the staff were really nice, and that had a fine-enough selection of beers. This place was packed! I love the concept... multi games streaming at once. It gives Las Vegas casino vibes right here in Charlotte. It's a sports better's dream. Even with all the customers, the service was fast and food was delicious. I noticed all the bartenders at least on this particular day were men and all the servers were women. I was told that wasn't the norm but I kind of liked it. The guys held down the bar rather well. This place does have an outdoor patio as well which was not open today but expected to open soon. I'd say if you are looking for a table to come early. We ended up standing the entire time we were there but I really wish this place much success. The staff was very down to Earth. I came across an article about a new sports bar that opened ansaI asked my wife would she want to go check it out and she was down for it. We drove down and there were plenty of parking and took the elevator up and upon entering the vibe was electric and a large crowd was representing there. The DJ was rocking and all the servers was extremely nice and courteous to us. I really enjoyed the large wall with all the TVs so you want miss any events. While sitting down me and my wife ordered some food as i ordered the Buffalo chicken flatbread and ordered the cacalamari which both was delicious. This is a soft opening so not everything was available but i certainly understood that before going but there wasn't any problems and is a great place to hang out. Service here was incredible. Couple of weekends ago me and my girlfriend were watching games there on a Sunday before catching a flight back to the west coast.
