Amazing Pool Hall! First time there last week and I love that it's not very loud in there. The bartenders were helpful. Everything needs to be ordered at the bar, including food. We had the chicken tenders and the quesadilla and I was super surprised at how fresh the food was. We normally frequent pool halls that tend to get super loud and rowdy, but I don't mind driving from university all the way to Matthews for the perfect pool hall. A real deal pool hall that Charlotte & Matthews should take great pride in. Spacious and accommodating with an awesome layout. Island style bar that is raised above the main floor in the center of the room, with plenty of seating. It's easy to relax and have a bite to eat (the beer was cold and the food was really good!) or enjoy a spectacular view of the pool tables, which surround the bar on the front and sides. Speaking of which, the pool tables are just beautiful! They were worth the trip alone. 22 tables in all; 18 9-ft Competition tables that are vintage American style by Black Crown and Brunswick. Covered in traditional green-they are fast, clean, and have been very well loved! You just feel cool playing on them, as they show the wear of use, yet display it in the best way possible. It's very impressive. Two 8-ft Standard tables and two 7-ft Valley "bar boxes" are there as well should you prefer them. Truly an outstanding place if you're a serious pool player in need of somewhere to shoot. You know what. Best people. They have pretty good food. Pretty good tables. The people take it over the top to a 5 star, one of a select few. I've only have one one bad food experience, but never a bad time. The staff smiles at you. They legitimately like you to be there. It's not a hassle for them to give good service, serve good food, and listen to you, when you figure out, you can't play pool. Seriously...this place is good trouble. read more

I used to play pool there several times per week (played in 2 leagues pre-covid times). Their tables are good, the staff works hard to serve and are honest and polite. There was usually two people serving the bar and they did the best they could to keep up. Food was good and has a variety. They have 8 foot tables, 9 foot tables, and a couple of bar boxes (coin operated). Pre-covid the place was pretty busy hosting leagues at certain times so call ahead about active league play or tournaments. Of course, they had large screen TV's for sports. This was my favorite place, never had problems with anyone, no fights like you can see in some pool halls. I think you will like this place, give it a try and help them stay in business! We were looking for cool stuff while we were displaced from Hurricane Florence and this was a good place to meet up with other Wilmington friends who evacuated here. Drinks were good (my fiancé drank the house bourbon and liked it a lot) and the food was surprisingly good for a bar. They've got about 20 pool tables at Rack 'Em, and the location in downtown Matthews helps keep the crowds from getting so wild and the lines for tables from getting so long. The food is good, the pool is fun, the service is friendly. Nothing is spectacular, but I've never had a bad night out here. They are also home to a dart league and a pool league. There's a dart tournament every Saturday and a pool tournament every Friday, and they occasionally have a trivia night. I'm a sucker for activities, so I like going out and having something to do besides drink. read more

If I could put 0 stars I would. The place in itself is a fun chill spot I've been 3 times now and from a scenery I've enjoyed myself. Tonight I brung my girlfriend a close friend and his girlfriend along with me to enjoy the experience and it just so happened that my girlfriend forgot her ID. My girlfriend was not drinking just there spending time with me as we have a 2 month old newborn and needed some get away time with friends. I was told that they hold a policy of if you don't have your ID you have to leave after 10 which is honestly fine. But when they came back to the table telling me this as they were only up there ordering food while me and my buddy played our pool game. I than went to the bar to try and see what was going on because this was my third time attending and I've been there with my little sister who is only 17 and we stayed until 1:30. As I'm trying to have a simple conversation with the blond bartender and ask her questions she's just immediately snappy with me so I go " I'm not upset I'm not angry, there's genuinely no issue I am just trying to understand because I've been here before and this was never an issue" her reply to me is " I don't care if you've been here before, it seems like you're the one looking for an issue" like are you serious? I served all 5 years I was in college so to have horrible customer service like that is completely unequivocally ridiculous. Like why be snappy with someone who is just trying to have a simple conversation with you? Overall I'd say go at any time that stupid blond bartender isn't there because she is a total word I don't like saying. read more

This was a really nice place to visit and have a meal. We were in town for business and wanted to eat somewhere other than a chain restaurant. The food here was very good and hot when it arrived at the table. The service was very good and we felt like we were being taken care of. This place was perfect actually. It's like a dive pool hall. Nothing fancy, nothing pricey, not too loud ... not too quiet. Mix of people... although had more of a *county* feel to it. Was here for a good 2-3 hours ... about 11pm on a Saturday night and, I'd say about 70% of their tables were being used. There's a few quarter tables if that's what you're looking for too. This place is SO DISAPPOINTING!!!! PLEASE READ The lack of customer service and quality care for people is ridiculous. My very close friend who is NOTHING but kind and loving to all was told to leave after doing nothing wrong while playing pool. He doesn't drink but is a very sweet person & keeps to himself and his business and loves playing pool. I have come here in the past with him and heard little snide remarks about him from workers and other customers. Tonight was appalling. He was told to leave with no explanation and was called inappropriate and offensive names toward him Like "Retard" & etc while he was leaving the building . He has autism but is high functioning and most wouldn't even know because he's no physical differences and acts no different than anyone else besides the fact that he is nice to everyone. But time and time again he has been mistreated & that's just beyond disgusting and disturbing especially coming from a business...... you should be inclusive to everyone not making them feel like an animal. Second time out to Rack'Em. Tables are in redible. Atmosphere very nice. I was able to play for about 30 minutes. The tables are set so that there is relatively small interference. I've only been here once and it's a cool place. Lots of tables and quit busy on a Thursday night. But I wasn't there to play but to watch some friends play and to have dinner. Nice tables,good selection of well kept sticks, wish they had some POWDER or rosin cone but I guess that makes for more clean up but since you are a billiards joint that should go with the territory especially since you sell food and it is tough not to get something on yours hands that keep the stick from sliding freely. Food was killer (got loaded skins and fried pickles) but I will sneak my own powder in next time. I loved 90% of everything over than the no powder situation. Only other thing that might cause me not to go back despite everything else is that if you are hot natured this is not a good place for you. There are no overhead fans and it felt humid and was zero air movement. Not sure if management is scrimping on the a/c bill but if it was cooler there would be less need for powder if hands not clammy. If they turned the air down I would have given them a 100% posiitive rating. Was a great place with awesome food and good drinks specials and nice tables. read more

Our after work group has started to meet once a month at Rack'em and have had great fun! The food is awesome and cheap. The servers are very friendly. There is Foosball, WII, Pool, Darts and more to do there so never a dull moment! It is bright and cheerful and clean. read more

Love this place. It feels like home. Shooting pool and hanging out this is the place to be. It's always busy and new people to talk to. Pool league each week night but there are still tables to rent. The food is very good and the entire place is kept very clean. A great variety of things to do. There is always something going on like darts, pool, corn hole, they have a tournament each Friday and Saturday night, and they have charity tournaments to play scotch doubles in about once a month or two.
