I've been eating at Don Alex with my family for years! My favorites are the Arroz Chaufa dish and the Jalea platter. The food is very delicious and the prices are great. I've never tried their desserts or drinks. The reason I'm giving this place a 2 is that although their food is to die for, their service is horrible. It didn't use to be like that a while back, but it seems like they hired a lot of new people. Their tone is very rude, they only refill your water glass like once and they're always hanging around and talking amongst themselves when they are needed! Last time me and my sister came to eat here, we had to wait like 20 minutes for the check to come because our waiter was completely ignoring us. When he did bring the check book he didn't even offer the alcohol pads or mints that are always given. On top of all this, the waiters and waitresses kept staring at us as we were putting the money into the check pad. It was so rude. read more

The place is very clean and service is good. Restaurant is a traditional Peruvian restaurant. They serve you canchita as soon as you sit down. They have a good variety of Peruvian desserts. My favorite is leche asada. They also offer "lunch menus" for a really good price. I would definitely will come back if I'm around this area. read more

Good service, oddly enough they do not serve alcoholic beverages but we don't care we don't even drink like that. We had tostones, 1/2 a chicken beans and rice and everything came out tasting great. We walked in with barley any people inside the restaurant and about 4-5 servers which was shocking but lots of orders being placed through the phone so I'm guessing that's how they get the most business. read more

Pretty good and satisfying Peruvian food! I am big on customer service so I gave it a 2 because the service is horrible! Waited forever for water, never got the drinks we ordered. Check took forever and it never came back. I finally made my way to the register. All of this made a bad dinner experience... I'd rather eat at pio-pio! And that's not saying much. read more

The food is really good. The service was not not bad. The food was fresh and well presented. The don't have a full bar and only serve beer and sangria. The sangria could be better it only comes in half a pitcher and not really strong. But overall I had a very good meal. read more

There are quite a few places in this area to get a rotisserie style chicken but Don Alex on Corona Ave has become my personal favorite. My girlfriend and I go quite often and we always get the 1/4 pollo arroz amarillo y habichuelas (1/4 chicken with yellow rice and beans) with an Inca Kola of course! It comes out amazing every time and their green sauce is outstanding. I'm not Spanish and do not speak the language very fluently but I generally don't have any problems with the wait staff and I'm always able to communicate in some way or another. One of my favorite things about this restaurant is the price, we get the meal mentioned above and sometimes we each get flan for desert and the price is in the area of $25! read more

El peor servicio y la peor gerencia, ordene varios platos pero el tallarin a la Huancaina llego de lo peor, fui a recojer por que me dieron 1 hora y 30 para hacer delivery y vivo a dos cuadras, llamo para hablar con el manager/dueño? Y por poco me hacen hablar hasta con el cocinero, me pidieron que yo vuelva a traer la crema de huancaina que me faltaba, esta gente no sabe de costumer service y las meseras son igual de groceras. Lo peor del caso es que lo que llego estubo horrible la ultima ves que paso por ese sitio y ni decir que recien hoy me di cuenta que tienen GRADE PENDING debe haber algo raro ahi. No lo recomiendo. I went here last week with colleagues from after a meeting. The food was good but the customer service was terrible. The waitress did not know how to use the credit card machine and charged me twice. I called them to have them void one charge and the owner was difficult and said that I needed to come and receive a cash refund. I wasn't being inconvenienced for their error. They proceeded to collect both charges and I have just disputed the second charge with the bank. If you go, pay in cash! read more

Okay so i've been buying their chicken breast for a while because i loveee their hot sauce. Peruvian hot sauce. But yesterday was my first time dining in. And I was so disappointed. My boyfriend ordered me two chicken breasts with rice and beans. His food got here with mine and they got me a breast and thigh and no beans. So i told them and they came back 15 minutes later with beans and the SAME plate only chopped all my food in half, like what?!?!?! So she goes back and I literally waited about 40 minutes and she says that there is no more breasts. By then I was extremely pissed and hungry so i just took the food and realized it's been sitting in an oven to be kept warm and my chicken is all dried up. What have they been doing for 40 minutes just to come back and tell me there wasnt any?? So ridiculously stupid. By then my boyfriends food was cold and I was in an annoyed mood so overall i would NEVER come here again. And this wasnt just one waitress it was 2-3 that messed this up. read more

I love Peruvian jalea. The onions served with my dish tasted raw and burned my mouth. The onions with this dish are suppose to be cooked with lemon/lime juice. Every time I give this place a chance they 99% of the time fail me. I give 2 stars because I like their green hot sauce. Not worth it to come back. I order food for delivery all the time from this place! The oven baked chicken is delicious. The arroz chaufa mixto is my favorite. I have not dined in but i recommend for local delivery service.The food is delivered in reasonable amount of time and food is still hot when received.Great place! read more

Horrible service!! Do not recommend this place at all. I placed a pick up order and when I went to pick it up the lady at the register tells me its almost ready to wait. I waited 30 mins, when I inquired again about my order she tells me to wait its almost ready. I told her I have been waiting for so long, she then prints out the order receipt and goes to the kitchen to ask about the order. She then tells me there was an error and the kitchen never got my order. This place is ridiculous why would you tell me its almost ready without having any clue. The service ladies are all disgusting as I waited for my order the bartender was eating mango and would spit it into her hand and through it out. At one point she also took off her sneaker and fixed her socks, at no time did she even bother to wash her hands. The lady packing the deliveries would lick her fingers to grab the bags for the orders, again at no time did she wash her hands. I just canceled my order these people aside from being unorganized do not follow the Health department regulations and are disgusting. read more

I have been living near this restaurant for years and have never had a complaint, not until these new waiters got around, I disliked the service since around November of last year or so, when new faces appeared and ruined the atmosphere. The food is good, used to be better, but the service has gotten so bad, I ordered today for pickup just so I don't have to be served in the place but guess what... They told me that someone else picked up my order already (mixed up orders)... The worst possible thing you can do... They even asked for my number I would guess to make sure I get the right thing... I usually order delivery (chicken with fries) at this place. Sometimes they come in 30 minutes but sometimes they come in an hour! I would call back and ask about my order but the lady would say the same thing(your order will be right on the way). But when the food comes, the negative thoughts go away because its so good. I never had any problems when they food arrived. Even in winter, the food came hot and delicious. One time a lady got rude over the phone. She asked me a question and i couldn't hear her because of the noise from the restaurant and she got rude for asking her to repeat her question. Last week I came to this restaurant for my sisters birthday. We ordered the salchipapas and a mango milkshake. the salchipapas were delicious but the mango drink wasnt worth it. All i could taste was the milk and you can barely tell it was suppose to be a mango milkshake. The carne from another plate i ordered was ok. There was nothing special about the meat except the salad dressing. Probably wont come here again but will continue to order to delivery. read more

Food was alright, nothing to write home about. Service seemed alright in the beginning but got terrible toward the end. Be warned, there is 18% MANDATORY TIP included in check, for PARTY OF TWO. There is no signage and no disclosure about the tip on the menu. Two of us went for dinner on Saturday night around 7pm. There seemed to be more waitresses than customers. We ordered drinks, ceviche mixto, and lomo saltado. Ceviche was decent, chicken and beef in saltado was salty, overcooked and chewy. Waitresses were young and attractive but seem quite undertrained. They didn't get us any water until my husband asked for a glass well into mid way into the meal. They kept asking us if we were done while we were eating...and we are not particularly slow eaters. When they brought me a check,18% tip was already included in the check. I wasn't happy, but I dutifully pulled my wallet out to pay. While I was placing cash onto the check folder, a waitress came to the table and said to me "Are you done?" I found it extremely rude for her to basically "demand" I hand over her the money as she stood over me at the table. I was about done, so I handed her the money with the bill. She went behind the bar and counted the money in plain view. She quickly glanced over toward me and motioned another waitress to come over and as they talked, she was pointing at me. Our bill came out to be $47.58 including 18% tip. I gave them $47. Another waitress, who spoke little English came over to me to say I didn't pay the full amount. I pointed out 18% tip was already included and asked if 18% tip was mandatory. She didn't seem to understand. So I simplified it for her said that I want to pay 58 cents less for 18% tip included in the check. She said she will talk to the manager, spoked to another woman behind the bar and told me it was okay for me to go. I felt like I just got exhorted. My husband got back from restroom at that moment and I explained to him what just happened. The manager must have heard what I said to my husband, so she said "We will see you again next time" as we walked out the door. No thank you, never again. read more
