Zero stars if that were an option. Came in with my family and was told the wait time would be about 15 minutes. No problem, we had a party of three and waited patiently. When we arrived, there were only two groups ahead of us, and the manager appeared to be handling seating. As time passed, it became clear that my party should have been next. Instead, another group walked in after us, and I watched as a table was cleaned and prepared for five people. I approached the manager to confirm whether we were being seated next. He acknowledged that I was right, admitted he remembered speaking with me earlier, but said the table was for five people. Despite that, he still seated the other party before us. By this point, our wait was well over 20 minutes. I even confirmed that the other group did not have a reservation--which would have been the only explanation that made sense. I've worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years, and this kind of oversight completely ruins the experience. It's the simple things that matter. To make matters worse, yet another party walked in and was seated immediately. At that point, it felt intentional. Rather than assume the worst, I chose to leave. I will not be returning. read more

The food at Pio Pio 11 is consistent with their other locations. We ordered the Matador combo, which comes with a whole chicken, yellow rice, beans, salchipapa and avocado salad, all served family style. It also comes with tostones but they allowed us to substitute it with the maduros. Everything was delicious; my favorite side was the maduros, which had the crispy caramelized exterior and soft and sweet on the inside. The chicken was roasted perfectly and moist, not dry at all. And that famous green sauce - it's like crack, so deliciously addictive. There were 3 of us, and this was entirely way too much food to eat in one setting, so our server kindly packed all the leftovers up for us (with plenty of green sauce), and the food was great as lunch the next day. The restaurant is fairly large, but was completely packed the night we went. It was very loud in there, which was surprising to me because nearly every table were families with young kids (ours included). The kid did not seem to be bothered by it at all, but I think my next visit will be an adults only outing. I ordered from here today, and maybe it was just an off night, but the portions were disappointing. The rice containers were filled less than halfway, and one felt noticeably lighter than the other. It's listed as saffron rice, but it didn't taste like saffron at all. On the positive side, the chicken was tender and juicy, but the overall portion sizes didn't feel worth the price. The simplicity of their business model specializing in just Peruvian roast chicken really appeals to me. I love specialty stores. Therefore, I had quite a bit of reservation about this much larger new location with a huge menu. For that reason, it took me a while before visiting this branch. Thankfully, my worries were unwarranted. Our meal this past weekend was fantastic. Flavors were great and food was all cooked very well. We already knew the chicken was going to be tasty, but we were all really impressed with pretty much everything. We began with some Anticuchos that were grilled to perfection and paired with a delicious sauce. Moving onto the Cebiches Mxto, which had very tender seafood that was swimming in just the right amount of acidity. These were both amazing appetizers. For entrees, along with Juanita's Chicken, we shared two other wonderful dishes. The Arroz con Mariscos was extremely flavorful. Most importantly, all the seafood was cooked properly and not overdone. As for the Lomo Saltado, they use filet mignon instead of the typical cuts most other restaurants do. Hence, the price is higher than usual, but the beef is also more tender. The rich sauce was superb. Btw, we ordered a side of Fried Yuca, which was yummy too. Now that I have finally experienced this new Pio Pio, I'm glad to report that it passed with flying colors. To start, they gave us a cup of green sauce but nothing to go with it, no corn kernels (like other Peruvian places). The calamari looked delicious but the texture was chewy and felt fake. Comes with one side and your chicken of a 1/4 portion of white or dark meat plus a generous salad plate. The drinks are so yummy and happy hour starts at 2pm. Second time here or should I say first time eating in bc last first time I just took out. My friend & I met for lunch and we both got the lunch special which is a great deal! I got the Maduras plantains while she got the tostones. Both are yummy! The tostones came with this yummy dip. Service was great we stayed longer than we planned but no one kicked or rushed us to go even though we paid bill. Pio pio is one of my favorite restaurants, glad to see them expanding. They have the best sangria & green sauce in NYC! This location is a lot bigger than Woodhaven blvd & has better parking than both Woodhaven blvd & Northern Blvd. Quick, friendly service. The menu is a little bit different, best part is the $14.50 special which includes 1/4 chicken, salad, & a side. My go to is white meat with rice & beans. I'm not sure if they are affiliated with Pío Pío in Jackson Heights, but that is the reason why we tried the restaurant! The restaurant is quaint with beautiful artwork. We now order takeout about once per week. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. We love the green sauce. It's a little more spicy than what we are used to, but we love it now. We always need to order extra green sauce. The service is outstanding both in the restaurant and for take out. We actually had an issue for takeout and they went above and beyond to help fix the issue. We wish the prices were slightly lower, but the food is worth it! Chicken dishes always good and the sampler platters with all the sides are popular (even though the prices went UP!) Saffron rice and beans are good but could use more beans. Pretty skimpy serving. Corvina in the ceviche is delicious. Tostones are good too along with the garlic dip on the side. The avocado salad is flavorful and the dressing is light and tart. Best is the green sauce. Now that they've opened in the Metropolitan/Forest Hills area, my taste buds and I couldn't be happier. I love the Arroz Chaufa with chicken. It has just the right balance of flavors with eggs, bean sprouts, scallions, and soy sauce. An added bonus is the generous portion size. While the restaurant is great for family-style dining, I personally enjoy ordering for myself and having leftovers. I also highly recommend the sangria, it's a must! This location has plenty of tables and is definitely in the right neighborhood. Metered parking is available, and there's also the option to park in the nearby residential area. I have been to Pio Pio many times during weeknights and early but last night we went about 8 pm. The place was packed including several parties with families and children. Last night the music was so loud my companions and I had to shout just to have a simple conversation. We finally gave up trying to talk . I asked the waiter if they could lower the volume a bit but he said he couldn't. On weekends they wanted a party atmosphere and those were orders from above. There is no dance floor and they were blasting Bruce Springsteen (not even Peruvian music) so I don't understand how they thought it created a party atmosphere. It is a restaurant, not a bar. The other customers were either screaming or dining in stony silence. Eventually my companion spoke to the manager and they lowered the volume a bit for a few minutes. I love the food there but I would warn you that if besides eating you want to have a conversation avoid weekend evenings. It's intolerable. read more

I was excited to hear they opened a sister location close to home I've enjoyed the original spot and was hopeful this one would be just as good. Unfortunately, the experience didn't meet expectations. I called an hour and a half before arriving to make a reservation for a party of six. The woman on the phone confirmed it was no problem, but when we arrived, the host brought us to a table set for four and scrambled to find two more chairs. It felt like they weren't prepared at all for our reservation. Our server was polite, but not very attentive. We had to ask multiple times for water refills, and one of our dishes, a ceviche platter, never came out with the rest of the food. We tried to get the server's attention, but he was busy chatting with another table and didn't check in with us for a while. I understand things can get hectic during peak hours, but compared to their other location, the service here felt disorganized and slow. It even took about 20 minutes after clearing our plates to receive the check. I really wanted to love this new spot, but the experience was underwhelming overall. We first sat at the bar, where we had delicious "maracuya pisco scour" and "Mexican rose" - the bartender, Christian, is a true mixologist. These were the best cocktails I've had in quite a while. What a joke this place is , I called on the phone to ask if I can come over to order a big order for 25 people , the lady on the phone said I could , I drove over 40 minutes to get there when I got there the lady ( who dosent speak English ) told me to wait I waited while she was just chilling , I explained that I called and someone told me to come in , she replied if she takes my order she will loose her job ,bc it's a lot of money , please does this make sense , I tried to explain to her that it's for July 2nd and she has time to speak to management she said there's no manager , she didn't wanna hear anything . This was our first time in PioPio II but it was for takeout. Came at 5pm on a weekday & it was not crowded but, as others mentioned, it was loud/noisy! Had to wait extra 10mins for order but that was our bad...we were early. Ordered their signature roasted chicken & fried rice. Chicken well seasoned & tasty but breast meat was very dry. Fried rice also well seasoned & good but had these chunks of fried chicken on top that were hard & dried. Will return to try other items as a dine-in in the near future. read more
