Welp, it finally happened. The POS alternator that Brownells charged me $325 died after 3 years and…read morefried a new battery in the process. The total cost was $760 because it supposedly took 4 hours of $100/hr labor it t to change the alternator on my old 1996 jeep cherokee xj. I would have done it myself in half that time (because I guess I am more skilled than them), but it was mid summer and I had to go to work myself. Not that they put any elbow grease into it, either. A day after driving it off their lot, I turned on the AC and the belt screeched loud enough to turn heads on Old South. They didn't even take the time to properly tighten the belt. A week after than the GEN light came on again, indicating that the alternator was broken again! When I brought it back and made a fuss, they gave me attitude and then charged me an additional $50 to fix something they half-assed before. It is laughable service from a guy who eyeballed me and took me for a summerer (even then...fix the truck, jackass! Slacker half-assers). Now- two years after that repair I had to replace the battery, little did I know that it was the alternator they put in that fucked up my other battery! I replaced the batt, thinking it was the cold weather that did destroyed it. HOWEVER- months after that replacement the BROWNELLS SHIT REPAIR JOB struck again and fried my new battery, popped fuses, etc. I should have written this review years ago, but now I have new vested hate towards those dorks. PS you can always find the one mechanic out at the box scamming on college chicks. He was probably the idiot that did such a shit job on such a simple repair, then overcharged by $400 plus (even with the ACK surcharge it was 2x too much.) DON'T GO TO BROWNELL'S THEY ARE LAZY, TALENTLESS HACKS. DON'T GO TO BROWNELL'S THEY ARE LAZY, TALENTLESS HACKS. DON'T GO TO BROWNELL'S THEY ARE LAZY, TALENTLESS HACKS. DON'T GO TO BROWNELL'S THEY ARE LAZY, TALENTLESS HACKS. DON'T GO TO BROWNELL'S THEY ARE LAZY, TALENTLESS HACKS.

In response to the previous review yes we are a A+ Accredited member of Boston's Better Business…read moreBureau. We have been family owned and operated since April of 1977. It is true we are not a Franchised dealer any more. And yes you did have to pay for your repair because we could no longer offer Factory "FREE" Warranty service. We did the work and yes you have to pay for the repair. We were a Chevrolet dealer for 34 years and a Chrysler / Dodge dealer for 29 before the Factory bankruptcy created a loophole where they could cancel independently owned and operated dealers. All in all there was over 3,000 Franchises revoked. Causing many of our Dealer friends and acquaintances to file for personal bankruptcy, many more to lose huge sums of money, their family fortunes, property, and untold stories of personal hardship. It also caused several hundred of thousands of people to loose their jobs. If this Is new to you read Alan Spitzers book, "Grand Theft Auto" for more information. We have tens of thousands of happy customers that we have serviced in over 34 years. We know our customers - many of them by their first names. We also know many of their family members and what their vehicle needs are and how to help them. We have an idea who wrote the original post but can't be sure because he didn't leave a name. If he is who we think he was on vacation, stranded by a broken down vehicle and wanted a "GM Factory provided rental." Obviously we couldn't provide one. But as outlined in his owners manual he could have secured his own and been reimbursed by GM. Which I explained to that individual. The original poster must take responsibility for his predicament. He chose to go on vacation driving a vehicle that had an ongoing problem. He chose not to go to the Franchised dealer in Hyannis and he was one of the rudest people that I have had the pleasure to try and assist in many years. He not only insulted me he insulted my Mother. If he maintained his vehicle correctly according to the other 200+ pages of his manual he probably would not have broken down in the first place. For anyone reading these posts about us here at The Cape Cod Auto Mall I invite you into our business so you can meet us, shake our hand, be treated with courtesy and respect, I will not treat you like a number. You are welcome to read the hundreds of thank you cards that we proudly post on our walls. When you read scathing unsubstantiated blog posts like the original, and the net is full of them, don't forget that the poster might not be the most knowledgeable person themselves. There is no way to tell if they are someone that you would take advise from in person. Thanks for reading my reply and I hope that I can assist you in the future. Garrett Stagg, Service and Parts Director of the Cape Cod Auto Mall.

This isn't a review of the business in question but a question for the disgruntled customer. Was…read moreyour vehicle repaired and was the repair in question performed by an ASE Master certified , GM trained technician? Also was your repair covered under the GM factory warranty. Also are you aware that the business in question at the time of your service visit was indeed still a GM authorized dealer. Were you?
