I had heard mixed reviews of Don Chuy's but finally decided to try it for lunch. I have my own mixed reviews so now get it. The chips and bean dip were great. The salsa was ok, nothing special but also not bad. I ordered a margarita to drinks. Wasn't a bad margarita but did have an interesting after taste. For my entree I had the Chimichanga with Fajita Steak. The tortilla was fried well and topped with queso. However the steak was so dried out and burnt, it was bad. I did eat it, mainly because I only saw my server when she took my order, brought my margarita and brought my check. She didn't stop by during my meal which is my other complaint. The service was non existent. She was carrying on a long conversation with the table behind me but didn't come by until my meal was done. I would say I also get aggravated with establishments that charge as much if not more than other restaurants and they have the audacity to add a credit card fee. It was on my check before I was even asked how I was paying. I know restaurants have to pay a fee but that is a cost of doing business and should be worked into the pricing. It's not like the prices were cheaper than eating anywhere else. I may consider going back but I'd prefer to drive a bit further and go to Poblano's instead. read more

Completely overrated. very mediocre food, poor service, and dishonest bartenders. We caught the bartenders, not putting alcohol in their margaritas. If you sit at the bar and watch them, they will actually put some tequila give you a short . If you're sitting away from the bar, you have a good chance of little to no alcohol in your drink at all. Any restaurant that does this should be shut down. read more

Located on the end of the strip mall adjacent to Wal-Mart, traffic is usually heavy. There is no parking adjacent to the building so you have to cross a traffic lane. There is handicapped parking close to the entrance door, so just watch as you are crossing the traffic lane. The host/ hostess counter is directly in front as you enter. We were greeted right away and taken to a booth. One bench cover was torn and the table had an annoying wiggle every time you changed positions. We also noticed the overhead music was slightly too loud. There were several other groups eating and we heard their conversations as they tried to talk over the music. Our server was very friendly and did his job well. He took our drink order and then gave us the right amount of time to make our selections. We received the chips and salsa just before our drinks arrived. The food took no more than 15 minutes after we placed the order to arrive. The salsa was disappointing. It had a strong tomato paste flavor. There were bits of onion and a few pieces of cilantro but neither of those flavors made it through. The carnitas was pretty good. The amount of pork was a bit less than expected but the flavor was good and it was very tender. The rice and refried beans were average at best. The salad was nice, with fresh lettuce, avocado and jalapeno slices, and tomatoes. The chicken and shrimp was also pretty good. The chicken had nice seasoning even without the cheese sauce and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. This dish had the same rice and refried beans. BTW, the accompanying tortillas were hot, so be careful as you unroll them. Other than the excellent service, the best part of this experience was the salsa bar. There were about eight different salsas to chose from. Each had a unique flavor and ranged in consistency from pico to creamy. One pico even included cactus. Any of these salsas were an improvement over the initial salsa and also made a great addition to the main meals. The bottom line for me is this is an average Mexican restaurant with above average service and salsa bar. read more

Outstanding food and service. Beautiful ambiance with gorgeous murals. The Pulpo (Octopus) was outstanding both times I had it there. It is a very tricky dish to get right and they did it to perfection. Brought my in laws who are originally from Spain and love Pulpo and they too were duly impressed. I've tried several Mexican restaurants in the TriCities area I can safely say this one is hands down the best in my opinion. Years ago, we didn't have any decent Mexican for around here. Now we have an embarrassment of riches in that cuisine. 7 Hermanos is among the best. It's not quite TexMex and not quite Mexican, kind of a cross between those and AmeriMex. You can get it from mild to pretty spicy. The portions are enormous. They bring food out on platters that are bigger than some tables I've owned in college apartments and Army barracks. Like everywhere these days, it can be short staffed at times. My advice is to either enjoy a drink or some chips or an app and take a deep breath. Smell that? That's the kind of ethnic food and experience that's best when it's not rushed. Maybe get here before or after the rush, but please don't take it out on the staff. That's not only rude and ineffective, but kind of dumb. I mentioned TexMex because I married into a family that lives south of the Red River. I know, I know. But they do have good taste in spicy food and they like this place too. The menu is huge too. All kinds of items you expect, lots of seafood, and some dishes like chicken with chorizo and cheese that had a different name in every joint. read more

Used to be my favorite restaurant. It has dramatically gone down hill in the last year or two . Covid must of taken its tole . It feels extremely unstable. I understand staffing can be an issue now that no one wants to work . The food quality has dropped . Also , the salsa is water and tomatoes. Bathroom experience is -10 , the bathroom signs are sharpie women and men on the wall . The stalls and toilets are so nasty i just held it . The high chairs are dirty you can scrape the black off of a couple of them . If a restaurant has nasty bathrooms i wonder how they care for the kitchen. I usually order the burritos or the chicken quesadillas. I probably wont be back for a couple of years . I have been to other choice of mexican restaurants and i have found this place to be below poor in the atmosphere and food quality. The food is good and I understand places have to raise prices due to inflation however, they raised them a little much going from 10$ for a combination plate to about 16$ is ridiculous. Many other things on the menu are now outrageously priced that you can go to any other Mexican restaurant and get it cheaper. Also, there are always a lot of college kids here that are usually being loud making the meal less than enjoyable. One of the managers who waits tables is very unfriendly and does not have a good attitude. I placed an order for the the chicken tortilla soup I asked for it to be spicy. My order was placed at 8:26 pm i arrived at the restaurant at 8:49 but wasn't ready I until 9:10 pm. This is my go to mexican spot. I love their food, the friendly service, and the quickness of the service; and Chuy is always there to greet us with a smile and a brief chat. I typically eat the Arroz con Carne (ACC) and my son usually gets the Burrito Sinaloa with rice, which is what we ate tonight. The food, as always, is hot. Which is really good as you know it does not sit under the heat lamp for a while. I cannot recommend this place enough. read more

The food here used to be great before COVID. Now it is skimpy and basic. Camerones A La Diabla aka Spicy Shrimp. I was expecting a full plate but instead got counted shrimp and the shrimp and sauce didn't even have onions and was not sliced or hot in any way. The only thing good was the tea. The salsa was tomato sauce with a few peppers and not homemade and the green tomatillo sauce had too much lime and made it very citrus and sour. I will not eat here again. Great Mexican food! We lived in Central Texas for about 30yrs and this is pretty similar to a lot of the places we liked to eat in TX.

Hands down, the best Mexican restaurant in Tri-Cities. We moved here from Texas about 6 months ago and have tried several Mexican restaurants in the area and none of them compare to the quality of food and great customer service we've received time and again now at 7 Hermanos. Just celebrated Cinco de Mayo there this evening and they were on point even with a line out the door the entire evening. Best margaritas around as well! We will keep going back! Amazing find. The service was outstanding and the food was authentic. We found this gem while on a work assignment. Despite the snow, we made it inside and found a pleasant staff eager to get our margarita orders to our table. I had the watermelon and my friend had the strawberry. They were phenomenal. The paintings on the wall told a story and were clearly painted with pride. It was so very refreshing to see a menu full of things for anyone. I was stoked to see their vegetarian options and quickly ordered several items. The fried burrito was worth driving all the way back for!! Had high expectations when coming in, yet the attitudes and slow service killed the vibe of the whole night. Got the food before getting drinks, my friends drink also came at least 5-7 minutes after mine. Ontop of that the server did not ask if we were splitting the check, leaving us with having to ask for it to be split. I was also charged extra for a 20oz drink rather than the actual size I got. And the attitudes from the girls taking their sweet time trying to split our checks just added onto our frustration. Will not be returning at all!!! read more

Just got back from dinner there. Really good food. I had a combo plate that consisted of a chile relleno, chicken quesadilla, beef burrito, and rice. All were good. I'm still getting used to ground beef in a burrito, but the salsa bar spiced it up as well as the rice. Service was excellent. Owner was a nice guy as well. read more

We've gone several times on Taco Tuesday even when they are packed the wait is short. $1 for ground beef or ground chicken soft or crunchy tacos. I get the sizzling veggie fajitas every time. The servers we've had are usually college students who know how to address questions about menu, most of the time. Hubby likes the horchata and there's a self serve salsa station that the server didn't tell us about the first time, good selection of mild to hot sauces. read more

This place is unique in so many ways! When you walk in you'll see bright colored hand painted chairs and amazing wall art! The food came to our table so fast! about a minute or two after we ordered. I got ACP and my only complaint is there was not enough cheese. My sweet tea wasn't very cold when I ordered it though. The restroom has 2 stalls they aren't dirty just very dusty. First let me say the restaurant was clean and the servers are friendly. We had good service. The problems: most of the foods were under seasoned. Let me add that I NEVER salt my food, but salt was required for literally everything consumed. The Texas fajitas my husband and daughter ordered came out long before the soup I ordered. Again the meat was under seasoned and there were hardly any vegetables on the plate. The rice and beans lacked flavor as well but were greatly improved by adding salt. When the soup finally came out it was a horrendously large portion that would have easily fed a family of 3. Furthermore, the chicken in the soup were such large chunks that I actually had to remove it, chop it up and remove fat that should have been cut off before cooking. The soup is a traditional Mexican soup called Caldo de Pollo and should have had vegetables in it. It's was broth, rice, with cilantro, minimal diced tomatoes and onions. It tasted fine but I was underwhelmed by everything except it's overwhelming size. Most of the food was wasted and left on the table because it wasn't worth packing up to take home. The tab was $40. This was our first and likely our last visit. read more

There's a reason 7 Hermanos has a five-star rating here on Yelp. Because they have terrific food and service! The staff is friendly, professional, and patient (very important for families with small kids). The food is fantastic, a very noticeable notch or two above any other Mexican restaurant in this price range. And speaking of the price, it's just right. Great value for the money. Authentic Family Mexican Cuisine - CHECK Great REAL Mexican Family food at very good prices. Most "Mexican" food places have what's come to be called Tex-Mex, but from my early years in Texas I can say those places represent neither Texan or Mexican with their offerings. Hermanos is very good in ways that make me travel back to the times I shared a meal at the home of dear friends back in Texas. In addition, my wife and I were fortunate enough to spend a few nights at the Fairmont Mayakoba located about 30-miles south of Cancun Mexico. The Fairmont is a 5-Star resort. We had several meals in the various restaurants on the resort and Hermanos could easily be comparable in quality of ingredients and size of portions at a fraction of the price (and US dollars go a long way in Mexico). We plan to return many times. OH Yeah, those with weaker reviews should have been more engaged with the staff to get guidance to perfection. Just ask, and you will be happy you did. read more

One of the best kept secrets in the Tri Cities! Rivals El Charloais and beats all the other Mexican restaurants in the area in my opinion. I ordered the Burrito Sinaloa and it was HUGE, most could definitely split it. It's filled with chicken, chorizo, rice and beans, topped with quest and pico. First of all, loved the tables...I wish I'd have taken a picture. Also loved the salsa bar (the salsa blanco is amazing!) The menu here is large like most Mexican restaurants, and I ordered the Picoso Pollo. I expected it to be similar to dishes I've ordered at other restaurants, but it wasn't at all like I expected. I was super frustrated at how tough my chicken was, along with the fact that it was just one large piece of chicken under the vegetables and was really hard to cut. I was probably just being lazy, but I'm used to having the chicken already cut up into chunks and tenderly cooked and smothered in cheese and veggies. However, once I finally got it cut up a little, I could mix it with the veggies and rice and make my own little burritos and it was delicious. I would definitely return here and was glad to see quite a few other diners since this location never seems to keep a business for long. Also, there are currently coupons for this restaurant on the back of Kroger receipts. $4 off of a $20 bill. Not bad! read more

Service can be painfully slow - I was ignored for 15 minutes after being seated; had the restaurant been busy I could understand, but with more staff sitting around than tables seated, waiting this long to be asked what you want to drink just isn't acceptable. The food is OK, but just OK. They seem to be afraid of seasonings - even a little salt would do the food wonders. While the presentation isn't bad, the flavor is about as authentic as Taco Bell. The decor, while not authentic, is bright and fun - so there's at least something to be impressed by. If you're hungry, have plenty of time, and aren't too concerned about having really good food, it's not a bad choice. read more
