More on the pricier side but I personally think it was a nice treat. I love the music that they were playing and have a nice big screen projector. The vibes were cool. I started out with the spicy marg perf amount of alch. & the elotes. The elotes were soo yummy & a good amount of sauce and toppings. I got the chicken tacos & my boyfriend got steak. We both put some verde & red sauce & Lime on our tacos and was mmmmm! Que rico! Was sad no rice & beans came with it for the price it would be nice to have a side.. But besides that service and all was great!

I found it odd that the restaurant was located on 94th Street, given its name, but that was irrelevant. Its reviews were excellent, and the food looked great in the Yelp photos, so we decided to give it a shot. I ordered a Grilled Chicken Burrito Bowl, which was supposed to be served in a fried flour tortilla that had been shaped into a bowl, but I, instead, opted for the ingredients to be placed in a container without the crispy vehicle. The platter included diced chicken, orange Mexican rice, black beans, lettuce, corn, pico de gallo, and guacamole. The chicken was well-seasoned and tender, the rice was fluffy, and the beans were very flavorful. The rest of the ingredients were fresh, and everything blended well together. I was allowed to select one of four sauces, though there were no descriptions to help distinguish their differences. I just selected the Red Smoky Salsa, which turned out to have a medium heat level and added notes of chipotle; I thought it was perfect. I had also asked for no queso fresco, and the crema on the side, though I wound up not using it. Overall, I was very impressed with my dish, and my friend enjoyed her Skirt Steak Burrito as well. Taqueria 86 delivered (pun intended) on flavor and quality. Next time I hope to visit the restaurant in-person to enjoy their cocktails and what looks like a fun atmosphere.

Loved that we could mix and match various options unlike some places that restrict you to 1-2 options while this option allowed me to explore the basics between carnitas, bistec, fish and birria. My favorites in that option were the fish and birria. The pack came with rice, beans. Guac, birria sauce, green sauce and lime. The price of $29.99 for 10 makes this a very affordable food option. The birria and fish had the best flavors while the carnitas came in third with the bistec being pretty basic. To solve the blandness of the bistec, I doused it with birria sauce and it became its very own delicious taco. There's no searing indoors but only one small table outside if you must have a sit down option so order from here with the expectation that it's a "take out joint". Today, it took 30 minutes during lunch time to get the tacos completed. Maybe we can try coming back on a different day and it might be quicker. We also tried the tamarind juice - it wasnt as strong as I would have liked it but at least the option is there. I would come back for the tacos. I hope they stay consistent enough.

First off, the burrito is HUMONGOUS-- definitely good when you're starving. Overall, the burrito was decent, but it was lacking some of the flavors from that I had remembered from back in 2014. Had never heard of an Alambre before so was interested to try. First, the tacos were basically Al Pastor meat in what seemed like packaged tortillas, surprisingly without any cheese or sour cream - which I expected to be in the tacos since the order option specified only "Item removal" for those ingredients, not a separate option to include them. Plus, I specified red sauce, but received some green sauce. Second, Taqueria y Fonda La Mexicana's Alambre was supposed to contained the chosen meat, bacon, salad, guacamole, onions, cheese and green peppers over a fresh homemade tortilla. It arrived with extra tortilla chips and assorted grilled meats with chewy, rubbery bacon. I'd describe this Alambre like a fajita without the meat sizzling. Again, the 3 underlying tortillas seemed like identically packaged ones. At best, this dish was unspectacular. Given my experience and other Mexican restaurants nearby, my order from Taqueria y Fondo La Mexicana was not worth the money and I'm not ordering again from there.

Little did we know that it was business on the main floor and a party on the bottom! We ended up skipping the coffee and just had food. This is a Mexican spot with some Colombian themed dishes on the brunch/lunch menu. The breakfast burrito was recommended by our server (as a popular dish) as well as the huevos rancheros. I love biscuits so was swayed in a different direction... an egg and cheese sandwich on a house made jalapeño biscuit. The biscuit sandwich was filling, although a bit too dry for my taste. The addition of the jalapeño did give the biscuit a good kick. The potatoes were nicely seasoned. My friend gushed about her huevos rancheros. It did look good, and I would likely skip the biscuit sandwich and go for the huevos rancheros or tacos next time. The service was super sweet and attentive. We truly didn't realize there was another floor until we finished our meal in the enclosed heated space up front, and the server encouraged us to check it out. It's a cool set up with a distinct feel from the main floor. All in all I would check this place out again.

I asked the waiter if we can mix flavors for margaritas and he said yes so I got a "Lava Flow" with Strawberry, Pineapple, and Coconut mix - so good! I also got 3 tacos: Oxtail Birria, Bang Bang Shrimp, and Grilled Steak. All were fantastic but the oxtail stood out to me in flavor. We also shared chips & salsa, which came with red and green salsa. I personally loved the green one. Notes: My buddy and I came on a Friday around 5pm for margarita Happy Hour (4-7pm) and it wasn't busy yet. It did get packed around 6pm when we left. They also had a TV with a basketball game on. Hostess was friendly and welcoming. I arrived first and was able to choose a table and be seated immediately. The waiter was also friendly and helpful in providing recommendations. Staff was attentive refilling our water and taking away plates to free up space when were done.
